Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the profile of Climate Change Literacy (CCL) and Sustainability Awareness (SA) among junior high school students on the topic of global warming using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) instrument and to map understanding patterns based on students' academic categories. A descriptive quantitative design was employed involving 14 Class IX students at SMPN Satu Atap 5 Hanau, Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan. Data were collected using a 20-item multiple-choice test integrated with a 0–5 CRI scale, then categorized into four understanding types: Conceptual Understanding, Lucky Guess, Misconception, and Does Not Know the Concept. Results showed that 35.7% of students demonstrated good conceptual understanding, 42.9% were classified as Sufficient Understanding, 14.3% showed dominant misconceptions, and 7.1% did not understand the concepts; overall, 23.9% of all responses were identified as misconceptions. The most common misconceptions were on greenhouse gas sources from the agricultural sector (item 6: 6 students) and mitigation-adaptation terminology (item 17: 5 students). Academic category analysis showed that high-achieving students were predominantly in the understanding category, while low-achieving students showed patterns of misconception and incomplete understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to document medicinal Zingiberaceae taxa and examine patterns of plant-part use, preparation, administration, and acquisition in Tambakromo, Pati, Central Java. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted from February to March 2025 in Karangmulyo, Keben, Sinomwidodo, and Angkatan Kidul Villages. Data were collected through structured face-to-face interviews with 13 community informants, field observations, documentation, and plant identification using botanical literature. The informants comprised 10 women and 3 men aged 41–84 years. Twelve Zingiberaceae taxa were documented. Field surveys recorded the highest number of individual plants for ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) (n = 34), followed by Javanese turmeric (Curcuma zanthorrhiza Roxb.) (n = 30), turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) (n = 27), and galangal (Alpinia galanga (L.) Willd.) (n = 26). Informant citation analysis showed that turmeric had the highest Frequency of Citation (FC = 9; RFC = 0.692), followed by Javanese turmeric and aromatic ginger (FC = 7; RFC = 0.538 each). Rhizomes dominated plant-part records (87.9%), boiling was the most common preparation method (54.5%), and drinking was the predominant route of administration (72.7%). Home cultivation was the main source of acquisition (49%).

Abstract

This research aims to develop a POC using BSF larvae leachate and bioactivators as a preliminary study for producing POC using a fermenter in the form of a biodigester. The POC production process involves inserting BSF waste larvae (kasgot) and water into the biodigester at a 1:1 ratio and adding the EM-4 bioactivator; in other variations, only local microorganisms found in kasgot are used. BSF larvae were fed in two variations: vegetable waste and IT Del canteen mixed waste. POC was produced in a biodigester for 28 days. This research analysed pH, temperature, and NPK levels. The results show that POC meeting SNI quality standards was obtained from vegetable waste samples, with a final pH of 5.02 and N content of 0.2315%, P of 0.4031%, and K of 0.4929%. The bioactivator used during fermentation of BSF larval leachate influenced the quality of the resulting liquid organic fertiliser. The EM-4 + molasses + leachate treatment yielded the best quality, achieving the highest total NPK content (0.66%) after 15 days of fermentation. The best treatment for plant growth was the liquid organic fertiliser produced after 12 days of EM-4 fermentation, which produced an average plant height of 11.9 cm.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the external morphological characteristics of the roots, stems, and leaves of six Syzygium species through direct visual observations in South Sumatra, Indonesia. The study was conducted in May 2026 across various residential areas and natural habitats using a qualitative descriptive approach. Fresh specimens of Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston, Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels, Syzygium malaccense (L.) Merr. & L.M.Perry, Syzygium aqueum (Burm.f.) Alston, Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp., and Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & L.M.Perry were documented and measured directly in their natural habitats. The results showed that all six species shared several general morphological characteristics, including a taproot system; woody, cylindrical, and erect stems; and green, petiolate, simple leaves with entire margins, pinnate venation, opposite phyllotaxis, and smooth surfaces. Despite these shared vegetative characteristics, the species can be distinguished by diagnostic morphological variations, particularly stem surface characteristics and branching patterns, as well as leaf length-to-width ratios, shape, apex, and base. Distinctive macromorphological variations in stems and leaves can serve as preliminary diagnostic characters for distinguishing closely related species, particularly when reproductive organs are unavailable.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the potential for implementing an integrated STEAM–Deep Learning model on the topic of Environmental Pollution at the junior secondary school level, prior to full-scale implementation. A descriptive quantitative survey approach was employed, involving science teachers and a Grade IX class as research subjects. Readiness was measured across four variables—Learning Tools, Supporting Facilities, Human Resources (Teachers), and Student Habits—using an expert-validated Likert-scale questionnaire, and data were analyzed using descriptive mean scores converted into qualitative categories. The results showed that Supporting Facilities obtained the highest mean score of 3.25 (fairly adequate), Learning Tools scored 2.76 (fairly good/valid), Human Resources (Teachers) scored 2.72 (moderate), and Student Habits obtained the lowest score of 2.24 (rare). Overall, the potential for implementing STEAM–Deep Learning on the topic of environmental pollution is fairly significant, but two main challenges remain: strengthening teachers' pedagogical competence in integrating the Engineering and Art dimensions, and shifting students' learning habits from surface, teacher-directed routines toward mindful, meaningful, and joyful project-based inquiry. These findings imply that successful adoption of STEAM within the Deep Learning framework depends less on physical infrastructure, which is already comparatively ready, than on sustained teacher professional development and the deliberate cultivation of independent, project-oriented learning habits among students.
