Abstract

n previous studies, the polysaccharide extract of gadung tuber has a hypoglycemic effect, wherein the plant contains a high glycemic index indicating that carbohydrates undergo rapid digestion and are absorbed in large quantities so that blood glucose levels suddenly experience a rapid rise in insulin which can lower cholesterol values. (Sumunar et al., 2015) This research method is an experiment in which this research was carried out, by making starch from gadung starch and making tablets by wet granulation. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the use of gadung starch as a binder can produce mefanamic acid tablets that meet the requirements for uniformity of tablet weight, tablet hardness, tablet friability, and tablet disintegration time in the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia. The addition of gadung starch (Discorea Hispida Dennst.) as a binder to mefanamic acid tablets causes differences in the physical properties of the tablets, namely in greater tablet hardness, smaller tablet friability and longer tablet disintegration time. The significance value obtained was 0.00 <0.05, because there was a significant difference in the gadung formulation and the gadung formulation as a binder for mefanamic acid tablets

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that most often causes disability in the form of paralysis of the limbs, speech disorders, thought processes, memory, and other forms of disability as impaired brain function. In general, people think that stroke is a disease that only occurs in middle age and old age. In fact, 10% of strokes occur at a relatively young age (less than 45 years). But now there is also a trend in patients under 45 years of age. According to WHO in 2012, 51% of deaths from stroke worldwide are caused by high blood pressure. Based on the results of the 2013 Riskesdas, the prevalence of stroke in Indonesia increases with age. The highest cases of stroke diagnosed by health workers were 75 years and over (43.1%) and the lowest were in the age group 15-24 years (0.2%). The prevalence of stroke based on gender is higher for males (7.1%) than for females (6.8%). Based on place of residence, the prevalence of stroke in urban areas is higher (8.2%) compared to rural areas (5.7%). This research was conducted in May 2017 which was descriptive in nature with the aim of getting an overview of the factors that influence the occurrence of stroke in early adulthood at the Imelda general hospital, Indonesian workers in Medan. This research technique used a sample method of 30 respondents. The results of this study showed that the most influential risk factors for the incidence of stroke in early adulthood were lifestyle, namely eating and drinking habits (89.1%), hypertension (84.3%), family history (84.3%) , obesity (83%), smoking (67.6%), and physical activity (30%). Eating and drinking habits have a high influence, because in their daily lives they consume the foods they like and what they want to eat without thinking that these foods are at risk of causing degenerative diseases. factors that influence the occurrence of stroke in early adulthood, so that the family's knowledge of stroke patients increases.

Abstract

The Candida albicans fungus is one of the factors that causes canker sores. Several researchers have proven that senggani leaves (Melastoma malabatricum L) have antifungal activity. The ethanol extract of senggani leaves is made by maceration. Formulated in mouthwash preparations with concentrations of 2%, 4% and 6%, then tested for antifungal activity against Candida albicans. The results of the antifungal activity test of the ethanol extract of senggani leaves obtained a Minimum Inhibition concentration at a concentration of 2%. The results of the antifungal activity of mouthwash preparations showed an average zone of inhibition. -average at a concentration of 2% 12.8 mm; 4% 13.4 mm and 6% 16.6 mm. Mouthwash preparations using ethanol extract of senggani leaves have been proven to have antifungal activity against Candida albicans which causes canker sores.

Abstract

Sleep quality is the sleep that a person gets which is useful for getting freshness and fitness when waking up from sleep and can be assessed by the number of hours of sleep. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammation that leads to long-lasting narrowing of the airways caused by destruction of the alveolar walls. The aim of the research is to determine the description of the sleep quality of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at the Imelda Pekerja IndonesiaGeneral Hospital, Medan in 2021. This research uses a descriptive method, a cross sectional approach with a sampling technique using nonprobability sampling with a sampling method, namely consecutive sampling involving 31 respondents. The instrument used was the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) sleep quality questionnaire. The results of this study were based on the sleep quality of 31 COPD patients in the orchid room at the Imelda Pekerja IndonesiaGeneral Hospital, Medan. The majority of respondents had poor sleep quality, 21 people (67.7%) and the minority had good quality, 10 people (32, 3%). It is hoped that it can be used for basic data and developed for subsequent research by adding respondents, conducting research on the description of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in improving sleep quality, and before conducting interviews so that researchers can better understand the material. 7%) and minorities have good qualities as many as 10 people (32.3%). Abstract

The research aims to determine the factors associated with the breakfast habits of school children. The study was conducted at UPT SDN 101878 Kanan I, Buntu Bedimbar, commencing in May 2023, using an observational analytical research method with a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of fourth and fifth-grade students, with a total sample size of 46 students. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and interviews, and statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The research results indicated that the availability of breakfast was correlated with breakfast habits in 65.2% of cases. The pocket money category was correlated with breakfast habits in 71.7% of cases among the 33 students, while the mother's occupation category was correlated with breakfast habits in 58.6% of cases among the 27 students. Cross-tabulation results demonstrate a significant correlation between these factors and breakfast habits. In conclusion, the presence of a morning breakfast's availability is related to breakfast habits, with a p-value of 0.006, rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho). There is also a relationship between pocket money and breakfast habits, with a p-value of 0.007, rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho), as well as a connection between the mother's occupation and breakfast habits, with a p-value of 0.038, rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho).
