Abstract

This study presents a socialization activity that introduced the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to 11th-grade students in the TKJ program at SMK Nusantara Tanah Jawa. This initiative aimed to raise awareness of the TOEFL test format, its importance, and its relevance to academic and career development. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, involving 16 students through a structured program consisting of preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Findings indicated that most students were initially unfamiliar with the TOEFL, especially the listening component. However, this socialization activity effectively increased students' understanding and interest in English learning, especially in the listening section. Challenges such as low prior knowledge and limited engagement were addressed through simplified explanations and interactive sessions. Overall, the activity contributed positively to improving students' English language competence and motivation, preparing them to understand the TOEFL listening section for global academic and professional demands.

Abstract

This community-based outreach program was conducted to improve Grade XI students’ awareness, skills, and motivation in preparing for the TOEFL Listening section at SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar. As English language proficiency becomes an increasingly essential requirement for global education and career advancement, early exposure to international standardized tests such as TOEFL is critical. The program introduced students to the structure and function of the TOEFL, including its different types (iBT, ITP, and Prediction) and the specific challenges of the Listening section. Students were trained to use effective strategies such as focusing on the final line in dialogues, identifying synonymous phrases in questions and answers, and avoiding traps based on similar sounds. The implementation included interactive presentations, real-time simulations using Google Forms, and guided listening activities with authentic audio. Students participated actively and demonstrated improved engagement, comprehension, and test readiness. The feedback phase indicated that students gained a clearer understanding of TOEFL Listening tasks and increased confidence in approaching listening-based questions. The combination of strategy-based instruction, digital simulations, and supportive discussion helped students overcome initial anxiety and performance gaps. As a result, this outreach initiative successfully equipped students with practical listening tools, increased their motivation to practice independently, and laid the foundation for future TOEFL preparation. It is recommended that similar programs be extended to other schools to support students’ readiness for international English proficiency testing.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the application of Islamic counseling using the role model technique can improve the morals and manners of elementary school students. The background to this study stems from the persistent lack of respect for teachers and peers, as well as the failure to demonstrate politeness in speech and actions. Through exemplary stories of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Islamic figures, students are expected to emulate the good behaviors reflected in the stories. The method used in this study was a qualitative case study approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using the steps of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The study subjects consisted of several students who experienced difficulties in maintaining good manners during interactions at school. The results showed that the application of the role model technique in Islamic counseling resulted in positive changes in student behavior. They became more polite, respected teachers, and behaved better towards their peers. Thus, the role model technique can be used as an effective method for developing morals in elementary school students.

Abstract

Curriculum development is a continuous and comprehensive process aimed at creating an effective and relevant learning system that meets the needs of learners and the demands of changing times. This process involves planning and designing the curriculum by considering critical aspects such as national education goals, material relevance, flexibility in implementation, and efficient use of available resources. Fundamental principles of curriculum development include goal orientation, relevance, flexibility, continuity, and effectiveness, which serve as key guidelines in designing curricula that focus not only on academic content but also on developing broad life skills, including critical thinking, social skills, and vocational abilities. Moreover, a well-designed curriculum addresses both individual and collective differences among learners, ensures continuity across educational levels and subjects, and optimizes the use of funds, time, personnel, and facilities. The quality of curriculum development is measured based on established national education standards, with the aim of producing competent generations ready to face challenges in the workforce and society. Therefore, curriculum development grounded on these principles supports comprehensive and sustainable educational success.

Abstract

Children’s and adolescents’ mental health has become a critical global concern, particularly as social, academic, and environmental pressures continue to intensify. Family, as the primary social institution, plays a fundamental role in shaping children’s emotional stability and psychological resilience. This study analyzes the function of the family as the main source of emotional support in maintaining children’s mental health. Emotional warmth, effective communication, and consistent parental involvement are identified as key components that contribute to a child’s psychological well-being. Conversely, lack of emotional support, dysfunctional parenting patterns, and family conflict are strongly correlated with increased risks of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems. The findings highlight that parents’ responsiveness, empathy, and communication skills significantly influence the development of a child’s emotional regulation and coping strategies. When families create safe, nurturing, and supportive environments, children are more likely to develop strong mental resilience. Conversely, toxic or unsupportive family dynamics may lead to long-term psychological vulnerabilities. The study emphasizes the importance of strengthening family-based interventions, improving parental awareness, and adopting supportive parenting styles to prevent mental health issues in children. Strengthening family emotional support systems is therefore crucial in promoting long-term psychological well-being.

Abstract

Marriage is a sacred covenant that establishes a family between a man and a woman. Within Islamic law and social norms, marriage represents the foundation of human life, forming a household built on harmony, affection, and mutual responsibility. However, the stability of a family can be disrupted by third-party intervention, particularly from parents or in-laws. Such intervention often arises from economic concerns, cultural expectations, emotional attachment, or cohabitation, which blur the boundaries between the newly formed household and the parental home. This study examines the forms, causes, and impacts of parental intervention on marital relationships. Findings indicate that parental involvement may appear in various forms such as giving advice, providing financial support, influencing decision-making, or intervening in childcare. Although often motivated by goodwill, excessive involvement can undermine the couple’s autonomy, trigger conflicts, create emotional pressure, reduce independence, and in severe cases, lead to marital breakdown or divorce. From the perspective of Islamic legal sociology, parents indeed hold a moral responsibility to guide their children. However, Islamic teachings emphasize the balance between parental guidance and respecting the independence of the married couple. Therefore, maintaining healthy communication and clear boundaries is essential to prevent conflicts and preserve marital harmony.

Abstract

For This research analyzes the problem of low Sharia financial literacy among the youth and identifies solutions that can be applied to increase their investment interest in the Sharia capital market. Although Sharia investment is increasingly popular, youth participation is still constrained. OJK data (2022) shows that the national Sharia financial literacy rate is only around 9.14%, which is far below conventional literacy (49.68%), reflecting a gap in understanding among the productive age group. This study utilizes a literature study method by analyzing various secondary sources such as scientific journals and official documents. The main findings indicate that Sharia financial literacy has a positive and significant influence on the investment interest of the youth. A sound understanding of Sharia principles, such as the prohibition of riba (interest), gharar (excessive uncertainty), and maysir (speculation), as well as Sharia-compliant products (Sharia stocks, sukuk), shapes conviction, attitude, and investment decisions that align with religious values. To overcome the challenge of low literacy, a comprehensive and integrated strategy is required : (1) Systematic Education and Socialization of Sharia literacy through educational institutions and the utilization of digital media and gamification; (2) Development of Sharia Investment Products that are innovative, affordable, and user-friendly; (3) Mentoring and Coaching through investment communities ; and (4) Active Stakeholder Collaboration (government, financial institutions, academics). This research is expected to provide a practical contribution to the development of Sharia financial literacy and support the growth of the Sharia capital market in Indonesia.

Abstract

Self-explanation is one of the learning techniques that gives space for students to explain the material content again with their own words, either orally or in writing. This technique is considered relevant for basic education because it can help children recognize their way of thinking, check their understanding, and strengthen the relationships between concepts. This article presents a literature review on the application of self-explanation in the context of learning in elementary schools based on research from the last five years. This literature study traces various national and international articles through a gradual selection process and thematic analysis to find patterns of findings related to the effectiveness of this technique. The results of the study show that self-explanation not only increases conceptual understanding, but also strengthens metacognitive abilities, learning independence, and the quality of student interaction with the material. This technique has proven relevant for various subjects, such as reading, mathematics, and science. This article is expected to provide a comprehensive picture of the potential of self-explanation as an alternative learning strategy that is more reflective and student-centered in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic factors namely inflation, the rupiah exchange rate, and the BI interest rate and a micro-fundamental factor, sales growth, on stock prices of companies listed in the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) during the 2020–2024 period. Using a quantitative method and SPSS 25, the research data were selected through purposive sampling. The test results indicate that inflation has a significant effect on stock prices, whereas the rupiah exchange rate, BI interest rate, and sales growth do not show a significant partial effect. However, the four variables are proven to have a simultaneous effect on JII stock price movements. These findings emphasize that stock price dynamics are influenced not only by macroeconomic conditions but also by the internal performance of companies. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of both external factors and company fundamentals is crucial for investors, firms, and policymakers in responding to capital market volatility in the post-pandemic period.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of corporate governance (committee, audit, independent board of commissioners, and board of commissioners), profitability (ROA and ROE), and company size on environmental disclosure in 31 mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2021–2024 period. Using multiple linear regression with data from annual reports and sustainability reports based on the 2021 GRI Standards, this study found that audit committees, independent board of commissioners, and board of commissioners significantly influence the level of environmental disclosure, while ROA, ROE, and company size did not show a significant influence. These findings indicate that corporate governance is a greater determinant of environmental information disclosure than profitability or company scale, and emphasize the importance of oversight and accountability in encouraging more transparent environmental disclosure practices.
