Abstract

This article explores the values of domestic counseling reflected in the story of Umar bin Khattab in Kitab Uqudulijain. Umar bin Khattab, one of the outstanding caliphs, is known for his decisive leadership, progressive legal and administrative reforms, and dedication in expanding the territory of Islam while upholding the principles of justice and the welfare of the people. In the context of the household, Umar set an example through the application of values such as fairness, responsibility, and honest communication. These values are in line with the principles of counseling guidance that prioritize emotional balance, wise decision-making, and maintenance of harmonious relationships. As a leader, Umar always listened to the aspirations of his people fairly, an attitude that can be applied in the family to create respectful relationships. Umar bin Khattab's example shows the importance of building a solid household foundation based on Islamic values. By integrating these principles, families can achieve harmony and happiness, while instilling strong moral values to the next generation.

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to find out whether productive financing has an effect on pegadaian syariah on increasing customer income, especially traders who take financing at pegadaian syariah. Based on data collected from customer respondents Pegadaian Syariah Panyabungan, The research uses quantitative methods by distributing questionnaires to measure the extent of productive financing in increasing customer income. The results showed that productive financing has a significant effect on increasing trader income in an Islamic economic perspective. Customers who receive financing experience an increase in income and business capital, which has positive implications for their welfare. Pegadaian Syariah Panyabungan is considered capable of helping the community, especially in terms of providing business capital without involving usury, in accordance with sharia principles.

Abstract

Access to clean water is the foundation of sustainable development and human rights, but its sustainability in rural areas such as South Central Timor (TTS) district faces complex multidimensional challenges. The main problem lies not in infrastructure development alone, but in the weakness of sustainable post-construction support systems. An in-depth political economy analysis shows that these challenges are rooted in chronic local government fiscal constraints, ambiguity in the institutional role between agencies, ceremonial cross-sector coordination, and local political dynamics that often sacrifice the stability of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Supply System Management Group (KPSPAM). The Community Service Program (PKM) is designed as a strategic meeting room to address the root of these governance problems through a participatory and collaborative approach. The method of implementing this program includes a series of structured activities: (1) FGD on participatory problem mapping to build mutual understanding; (2) A continuous mentoring survey for KPSPAM with a focus on managerial, financial, technical, and advocacy aspects to formulate institutional solutions. The results achieved from this program are increased stakeholder awareness of the importance of a paradigm shift from a "project" to a "sustainable service" approach, a significant strengthening of KPSPAM's capacity, and the preparation of a draft Joint Action Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for post-construction support. This program recommends that local governments immediately formalize coordination mechanisms, issue regulations that support the allocation of Village Funds for clean water maintenance, and institutionalize KPSPAM's capacity building program on a sustainable basis to ensure the future of clean water services at TTS.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential cognitive skills that need to be developed early on, especially at the elementary education level such as Islamic elementary schools (MI). This study aims to examine the influence of Vygotsky's learning theory on the development of critical thinking skills in MI students through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Vygotsky's theory, which focuses on social interaction, scaffolding, and the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), has been shown to support the creation of collaborative learning that stimulates students' reasoning skills. The results of studies from various literatures in 2020–2024 show that learning approaches based on Vygotsky's theory, such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), guided inquiry, and learning communities, can significantly improve students' critical thinking skills. However, challenges such as limited teacher competence, high student-teacher ratios, and minimal contextual learning resources are obstacles to its implementation. Therefore, strengthening strategies that include teacher training, development of learning tools, and institutional support are crucial so that this theory can be applied effectively in the MI environment.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the discovery learning theory in science education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) and its impact on improving students' science skills. The research method used is library research by reviewing various literature sources such as books, journals, and relevant scientific articles. The findings indicate that the application of discovery learning is capable of enhancing students' science process skills, such as observation, classification, hypothesis formulation, and conclusion drawing. The implementation of this method is carried out through exploration activities, simple experiments, group discussions, and reflections tailored to the characteristics of students at MI. However, the implementation of discovery learning faces challenges such as limited facilities and infrastructure, varying teacher competencies, limited learning time, and diverse student abilities. To overcome these obstacles, strengthening strategies are needed, such as teacher training, the development of simple and contextual learning media, support from school leaders, as well as the integration of technology and parental involvement in the learning process. In conclusion, discovery learning is an effective approach to enhancing students' science skills in MI, provided it is supported by various comprehensive and sustainable supporting factors.

Abstract

This community service initiative was undertaken with the express purpose of enhancing the comprehension of the Simple Present Tense among a cohort of Grade 7 students enrolled at SMP Swasta GKPS 13 Sibarou. The project directly confronted the prevalent grammatical hurdles students often encounter when endeavoring to construct grammatically sound sentences using the present tense. The pedagogical approach adopted for this endeavor was classroom-based instruction, meticulously designed around the principles of contextual learning. Data for this study was meticulously gathered from 20 Grade 7 students, employing a multifaceted collection strategy that included direct observation, the analysis of worksheets, and the administration of comprehensive written tests. The entire implementation process was systematically organized into three distinct phases: the preparation phase, which involved the meticulous design of instructional materials; the implementation phase, encompassing the actual delivery of learning activities; and the evaluation phase, characterized by the administration of post-tests and the collection of valuable feedback. The compelling outcomes of this project demonstrated a profound improvement: a remarkable 100% grammar accuracy, an encouraging 80% vocabulary usage, and an outstanding 100% sentence structure accuracy. These compelling results strongly indicate that contextual methods are remarkably effective in bolstering students’ grammatical proficiency. Consequently, the conclusion advocates for the systematic integration of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) into routine instructional practices to foster superior learning outcomes.

Abstract

This socialization activity on the introduction and benefits of the TOEFL function was conducted with the aim of enhancing the understanding of the students of SMA Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar, particularly the eleventh-grade students, regarding the importance of the TOEFL test as one of the requirements in education and employment. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an international standardized test that measures English language proficiency in four main skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Unfortunately, many high school students still lack understanding about the function, format, and benefits of this test. Therefore, this socialization activity was designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the concept of TOEFL, its test types (ITP, iBT, and CBT), question structure, and basic strategies for taking the test. Through material presentation, interactive discussions, and practice sessions, this activity is expected to motivate students to take English learning more seriously and to prepare themselves early. The results showed that students responded positively, with enthusiasm, and began to realize the importance of TOEFL as a valuable asset for their academic and professional future.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted to improve the English writing skills of Grade VII students at SMP IT Cendekia Pematangsiantar, particularly in sentence structure and vocabulary. The main objective was to enhance students’ writing ability through the use of ProWritingAid as a creative and interactive technology-based tool. The methods used included socialization, a short training session, and hands-on practice during a one-day activity involving 15 student participants. The activity was carried out actively and interactively, with direct guidance as students explored key features of the application. ProWritingAid proved useful through its grammar correction, sentence structure analysis, and writing style support. Some challenges were encountered, such as limited internet quota and restricted access to premium features. However, students showed improvement in constructing more coherent and grammatically correct English paragraphs. They also became more confident and motivated to write. This program demonstrated that the use of interactive digital media can effectively support the development of writing skills among junior high school students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of public service ethics at the Bogor Regency Population and Civil Registry Office. This research primarily focuses on aspects of employee discipline, fairness in service, information access, and communication. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that there are still employees who commit ethical violations such as lack of discipline, unfair service, and suboptimal communication. The main inhibiting factors for the implementation of ethics itself are low individual moral awareness, lack of supervision, and a negative organizational culture.

Abstract

Indonesia's national legal system faces challenges in realizing substantive justice in accordance with the values of Pancasila. Many legal products are formalistic and technocratic, often detached from the nation's ethical, spiritual, and social roots. In this context, the reconstruction of national law is a necessity, namely restructuring the legal system to align with the noble values of Pancasila. This reconstruction is not only normative-institutional but also demands transformation at the level of legal education. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model offers an innovative approach that connects legal theory with the social context and values of Pancasila. This research uses qualitative methods with a case study at a state law faculty. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and curriculum documentation. The findings indicate that CTL is able to increase students' legal awareness, foster ethical understanding, and encourage critical engagement with existing legal products. Students who learn through the CTL approach demonstrate the ability to assess law not only from a legal perspective, but also from the perspective of substantive justice and human values. They are more active in discussions, reflective in their thinking, and courageous in criticizing laws deemed inconsistent with the principles of Pancasila. Furthermore, CTL has been shown to internalize values such as deliberation, honesty, and responsibility in the character of law students. However, the implementation of CTL faces several challenges, such as limited lecturer training and a lack of contextual curriculum integration. Therefore, for CTL to function optimally as a bridge between legal education and national legal reconstruction, institutional support and ongoing pedagogical strengthening are needed. Thus, CTL has great potential as a transformative strategy in shaping an Indonesian legal system that is just, responsive, and Pancasila-based.
