About the Journal Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Kesehatan Terkini (JPMKT) is a scientific journal of community service results in the health sector, which is published periodically 2 (two) times a year in August and February. JPMKT publishes journals in the form of articles online. JPMKT accepts publication of community service results for academics (lecturers and students). The focus of community service results in the JPMKT journal is the health sector (medicine, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, health nutrition, food, health technology, food technology, and so on). This journal is published by PT. Ruang Ide Wijoyo which is managed by Ruang Ide Publisher. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Kesehatan Terkini (JPMKT) merupakan jurnal ilmiah hasil pengabdian masyarakat di bidang Kesehatan yang diterbitkan secara berkala 2 (dua) kali dalam setahun yaitu Bulan Agustus dan Februari. JPMKT menerbitkan jurnal dalam bentuk artikel secara online. JPMKT menerima publikasi hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bagi akademisi (dosen dan mahasiswa). Abstract

Adolescents are an age group vulnerable to various reproductive health issues, including sexual harassment and the negative impacts of excessive gadget use. Gadgets are one of the results of technological advances in the modern era. While their use provides various conveniences and benefits, on the other hand, they also have negative impacts. The lack of education and supervision regarding these issues in the school environment presents a challenge in creating a safe and supportive environment for adolescent growth and development. This community service aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of Junior High School 15 Pekanbaru students regarding efforts to prevent sexual harassment and the dangers of wise gadget use on adolescent reproductive and mental health. Implementation methods include interactive counselling, group discussions, and the distribution of education media. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants knowledge about the definition, types of sexual harassment, how to prevent it, and the negative impacts of gadgets. The response from the school was very positive to this activity. It is hoped that this program can be the first step in sustainable development and be implemented in other school with similar methods.

Abstract

Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) tetap menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat, dimana fogging sering dipahami sebagai langkah utama pengendalian DBD meskipun efeknya bersifat sementara. Penelitian ini bertujuan menilai pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai DBD, pencegahannya, dan peran fogging di RW 04 Kelurahan Neglasari. Metode yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimental dengan desain one group pre test dan post test. Sebanyak 24 responden mengikuti sesi edukasi selama 30 menit menggunakan media PowerPoint dan leaflet, serta mengisi kuesioner sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan, di mana 20 responden mampu menjawab pertanyaan dengan benar setelah edukasi, dibandingkan dengan sebagian besar responden yang memiliki pengetahuan rendah pada pre-test. Edukasi berhasil mengubah persepsi masyarakat mengenai fogging, menekankan bahwa fogging hanya bersifat sementara, dan meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pemberantasan sarang nyamuk serta perilaku hidup bersih melalui 3M Plus. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa edukasi kesehatan merupakan strategi efektif dalam pengendalian DBD berbasis komunitas.

Abstract

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease that remains a major public health problem globally, particularly in areal with high rainfall, poor sanitation, and densely populated settlements. These conditions increase the risk of leptospirosis transmission, especially in high-risk urban communities such as Neglasari RW 04. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of community-based health education on knowledge and preventive behavior toward leptospirosis. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was applied among residents of RW 04, Neglasari. A total of 22 respondents were selected using total sampling. The education was delivered through lectures using PowerPoint, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and leaflets. Knowledge and preventive behavior were measured using a 13-item questionnaire before and after the intervention. The results showed that before the education, most respondents had low levels of knowledge and preventive behavior, whereas after the education, 17 respondents demonstrated an increase in correct answers. These findings indicate that community-based health education plays an important role in improving public awareness and understanding of leptospirosis. Structured and locally relevant health education can serve as an effective promotive and preventive strategy for leptospirosis at the community level.
