Abstract

Abstract: Development of a Game-Based e-Media "Snake Ladder Lumpia" to Enhance Vocab ulary Acquisition in Elementary Students. Objectives: Students' ability to interpret vocabulary is still low, which is the basis for this study. Students have been able to read but are still lacking in interpreting vocabulary. The use of learning media is still limited and there is no special media for learning Indonesian. Utilizing digital technology or making simple props relevant to the material, teachers can be more creative and use more diverse and innovative learning media. The purpose of this study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of E-Media Snake Ladder Lumpia  in improving student learning outcomes in the material of interpreting vocabulary of grade IV elementary school students. Methods: This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg and Gall model. The product validity test was carried out with two validators, namely material expert validators and media expert validators. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation, test and non-test techniques. Data collected using a questionnaire. Analysis techniques used in this research are qualitative and quantitative. Findings: The results of this study indicate that the results of the feasibility test, the media obtained 95% with a very feasible predicate and the results of the feasibility test from the material expert 95% with a very feasible predicate. Conclucion: The results of the large-scale usage trial increased from the pretest and posttest with an average N-Gain of 0.63 and significance (2-tailed) of 0.00 < 0.05. The conclusion from the results of this study shows that the E-Media Ular Tangg Lumpia is declared feasible and effective in improving the competence of interpreting vocabulary of fourth grade students of SDN Bringin 02 Semarang.

Abstract

The Effect of Anthropometry and Physical Activities toward Elementary School Students’ Interest in Learning Sports. Objective: The current study aimed to determine the effect of anthropometry and physical activities toward sport learning interest of elementary school students. Methods: The cross-sectional survey research design was applied in this study with 137 elementary students from two Islamic elementary schools in Pringsewu regency, Lampung as research sample. Moreover, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and multiple linear regression with product moment correlation coefficient used to analyze and interpret the data. Finding: there was no significant effect of anthropometry toward learning interest (sig > 0.05), however physical activity performed different effect (sig < 0.05). Moreover, a positive and significant effect of anthropometry toward physical activity was found and the combination of both showed the positive effect towards students learning interest. Conclusion: It exist a strong and signification effect of anthropometry and physical activity toward students’ interest in learning sports of elementary school students. Keywords: anthropometry, physical activities, learning interest, elementary school student.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202339

Abstract

Development of NumeriUNO Media in Improving Mathematics Learning Outcomes of Grade III Students. Objectives: This study aims to develop, and test the feasibility, effectiveness, and practicality of NumeriUNO card learning media to improve mathematics learning outcomes. Methods: The research model used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Borg & Gall development model. The research approach used in this study is a pre-experiment method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques used to test techniques (pretest-posttest) and non-tests in the form of interview results, questionnaires, observations, score lists, and documentation. Findings: Media expert validation amounted to 92.3% and material experts amounted to 92.6% with very feasible criteria on both. The practicality test is shown by the results of students' responses 92% and by teachers 90%, with very positive categories in both. There is an increase in learning outcomes by 34.2 points, from the pretest results of 46.6 and posttest of 80.8. The effectiveness of the media is evidenced by a significant difference in the results of the two-sided t-test p (<0.001), the effect size value (Cohen's D) is 2.12, with a very large category of effects, n-gain of 0.6261 with a moderate category, and 77% of students experience learning completeness. Conclusion: The learning media of the NumeriUNO Card has proven to be not only feasible but also effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes on the multiplication of numbers. The use of games in learning increases student engagement, motivates them, and creates a more enjoyable and interactive learning experience. Keywords: NumeriUNO card, mathematic, learning outcomes.

Abstract

A look at Language Learning Strategies of Indonesian High School Students as Foreign Language Learners. Objective: This study analyzed Indonesian high school student’s choice of language learning strategies as EFL users, predominantly determining the most frequently used strategies. By understanding learning strategies, it can help EFL students to accelerate their language learning. Methods: One hundred and forty Darul Hasan high school students of Padangsidimpuan participated in this survey. All grades from 2020/2021 participated in this survey study. The Oxford’s strategy inventory for language learning (SILL) translated version was implemented to decide their learning strategies. Findings: The result showed that the students are medium strategy users. The affective strategy was found to be the most dominant strategy used by the students. The students do not seem aware that learning strategies were a part of their learning process. Conclusion: The students and teachers need to improve the learning language strategy for a better learning process. Keywords: language learning strategy, Oxford’s strategy inventory for language learning, survey method. DOI: 10.23960/jpp.v11.i2.202114

Abstract

How to Build Mathematical Abilities in Deaf Students? A Grounded Theory. Objective: This study aims to produce a conceptual model as a strategy for building mathematical abilities in deaf students. Methods: This is qualitative research with a grounded theory design involving 45 deaf students from four middle schools in Indonesia. Findings: The results of the data analysis at the open coding stage obtained five categories of visual, feeling, understanding, learning experience, and habits in learning mathematics. At the axial coding stage, mathematical understanding was used as the core category. While at the selective coding stage, a conceptual model was built where each category contributes to building mathematical abilities. Conclusion: That efforts are crucial to develop the mathematical abilities of deaf students comprehensively. This can be done by visualizing the problems, connecting the problems with the student environment, providing learning experiences with various questions, giving motivation, and increasing self-confidence using praise and more attention from parents or teachers. Keywords: deaf student, grounded theory, mathematical abilities.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i2.202240
