Abstract

Leadership management in educational units plays a crucial role in enhancing educational quality, particularly within Islamic education contexts where leaders must integrate spiritual values with professional development. School principals are required to motivate and guide educators to maximize their potential by actualizing the teaching-learning process through Islamic principles of amanah (trustworthiness), tawhid (unity), and qiwamah (stewardship). One effective approach educators can utilize to enhance learning quality is conducting classroom action research (CAR). However, the implementation of leadership in Islamic educational settings requires a contextually-sensitive approach that aligns with both Islamic values and modern pedagogical principles. School principals face difficulties maximizing educators' professional abilities if the management approach implemented does not align with the school environment and Islamic educational philosophy. This research aims to discover the leadership management approaches of school principals in increasing teacher quality through classroom action research within an Islamic education framework. Researchers employed a qualitative research paradigm with a case study approach. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. The sample consisted of 10 Islamic teachers selected through purposive sampling, including the school principal, supervisors, and Islamic teachers. Data analysis utilized three steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicated: (1) The school principal's leadership management is applied proportionally through an Islamic values-based collaborative model that integrates spiritual leadership with pedagogical supervision; (2) The school principal believes that classroom action research serves as a transformative approach aligned with Islamic principles of continuous improvement (istiqamah) and knowledge pursuit (thalab al-'ilm); (3) The TAGI (Take and Give) model, rooted in Islamic reciprocity principles, is applied to realize and maximize educator professionalism, thereby enabling the achievement of learning objectives and superior accreditation for the educational unit.

Abstract

This study analyzes how an Islamic-based academic guidance framework supports students’ access to state universities at MAN Ciwaringin. Persistent disparities between madrasah and general high school graduates indicate the need for guidance models that integrate academic preparation with the pedagogical principles of Islamic education. Using a qualitative case study design, data were gathered through interviews with students, counselors, and alumni, complemented by observations and program documentation. The analysis focuses on the interaction between structured academic coaching and value-oriented mentoring practices embedded in the school’s tarbiyah tradition. The findings show that the guidance model contributes to three main outcomes: improved understanding of university admission mechanisms, enhanced study strategies aligned with exam requirements, and stronger learning discipline shaped by ethical teacher–student relationships. Rather than functioning as motivational support, mentoring enables reflective planning and informed decision-making regarding university and major selection. The study demonstrates that access to higher education in Islamic schools is influenced not only by academic readiness but also by the coherence between guidance practices, institutional culture, and student support networks. Conceptually, this research contributes to Islamic education by showing how tarbiyah-informed mentoring can operate as a practical mechanism for narrowing access gaps in madrasah contexts.

Abstract

The quality of human resources is a decisive factor in the success of Islamic educational institutions, yet studies on Islamic transformational leadership and its impact on teacher performance remain limited. This research addresses the gap by examining the role of transformational leadership, work motivation, and job satisfaction in shaping teacher performance at Madrasah Aliyah Riyadhul Jannah Subang, an institution facing challenges of low motivation and high workload among teachers. Using a quantitative survey method, data were collected from 16 teachers and analyzed through regression techniques. The findings indicate that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, while transformational leadership and job satisfaction show no significant effect. This suggests that structural and cultural factors within the madrasah, including workload distribution and institutional norms, may weaken the influence of leadership and satisfaction compared to motivation. The study implies that strengthening teacher motivation is crucial for performance improvement in Islamic education, while leadership approaches must be contextualized to the realities of madrasah culture. These results highlight the need for further exploration of Islamic transformational leadership models in enhancing teacher performance.

Abstract

Educational transformation in the Education 5.0 era requires Islamic boarding schools to not only strengthen the spiritual dimension but also systematically integrate vocational education and soft skills development within the framework of Islamic educational management. However, studies that position the integration of vocational education and soft skills as a structured managerial strategy are still limited. This study aims to analyze the design, implementation, and control of the integration of vocational education and soft skills at the Miftahul Ulum Bangunsirna Islamic Boarding School. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving the boarding school leadership, educators, program managers, and students as key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using thematic analysis with data validity maintained through triangulation. The results show that the integration of vocational education and soft skills is not incidental, but is built through coordinated managerial practices, including a competency-based curriculum, collaborative human resource management, and the management of the boarding school's institutional culture as a hidden curriculum. Vocational education is positioned as an inherent part of the Islamic educational mission to actualize the values of knowledge, charity, and morals in the lives of students. This study contributes by formulating a humanistic-integrative Islamic educational management pattern as an empirical description of managerial practices, as well as providing practical references for managing Islamic boarding schools in responding to the demands of contemporary education and the world of work.
