Abstract

Daily, no problem can be solved by involving only one scientific discipline. Students must be trained with integrative problems involving other disciplines. STEM education is one educational framework that allows students to be engaged in integrative problems. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Islamic integrative mathematics problems with STEM education in improving critical thinking skills. Effectiveness is also seen based on critical thinking skills, including understanding problems, identifying information, validating arguments, drafting conclusions, and evaluating. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a pretest and posttest control group design. The research population is 8th-grade MTs/Islamic Junior High School students in Purbalingga, with a sample of 138 students from two Islamic junior high schools. Critical thinking skills data was obtained from a critical thinking skills test representing each aspect of critical thinking. The data analysis used was the t-test and the Mann-Whitney U test with the help of SPSS. The study results show that learning integrative math problems with STEM education effectively improves overall critical thinking skills and the aspects of argument validation and evaluation. Meanwhile, in terms of understanding problems, identifying information, and concluding, Islamic integrative mathematics problems with STEM education are not effective. The finding implies that learning mathematics is more meaningful if it is directly related to its application in various disciplines, in this case, STEM and Islamic disciplines. Integrating mathematics with various disciplines in the form of integrative math problems can develop students' critical thinking skills well.

Abstract

The Panjang Jimat Ritual in Cirebon is a tradition that blends Islamic spirituality and Javanese mysticism, passed down through generations within the Cirebon Palace. This research examines how the Panjang Jimat tradition reflects the fusion of Islamic values with local Javanese beliefs, seen in the use of heirloom objects as spiritual mediums and the role of the Sultan as the ritual leader. Additionally, this study explores the educational aspects of the ritual, where Islamic teachings are transmitted not only through formal education but also through cultural practices, shaping the spiritual and moral development of the community. Through a qualitative approach and literature analysis, this study shows that the Panjang Jimat not only serves as a religious ritual but also symbolizes social cohesion and cultural identity, strengthening the community’s connection with their ancestors and traditional values. Despite theological criticism regarding belief in the power of heirloom objects, the people of Cirebon view the ritual as a form of respect for their ancestors and a way to receive blessings from God. As times change, the Panjang Jimat tradition continues to adapt, addressing contemporary issues such as environmental sustainability and social inclusivity. This research demonstrates that Panjang Jimat is not just a tradition, but also a medium for dialogue between Islamic teachings, local wisdom, and Islamic education, maintaining its relevance amid modernization and social change

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Sharia-Based Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions and its impact on organizational performance. While TQM has been widely applied in various sectors, its integration with Islamic principles remains underexplored. Many Islamic educational institutions struggle to align modern management practices with Islamic ethics, creating inefficiencies in resource management and stakeholder engagement. Using a qualitative research design, this study collected data through interviews, observations, and document analysis from five Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia that adopted MS 1900:2014 certification. The findings reveal that Sharia-based TQM enhances leadership, operational processes, and stakeholder involvement. Key Islamic values, such as justice (al-‘adl), accountability (mas’uliyyah), and consultation (shura), play a central role in decision-making, fostering an ethical and collaborative work environment.Unlike previous studies that focus on secular institutions, this study provides empirical insights into the role of Islamic ethics in quality management. The adoption of Sharia-based TQM leads to improved efficiency, cost reduction, and institutional credibility, attracting more students, funding, and partnerships. It also enhances employee productivity, reduces turnover, and strengthens financial sustainability. This study highlights the importance of integrating Sharia principles into TQM to improve institutional performance while preserving Islamic identity. The findings offer practical recommendations for policymakers and educational leaders to optimize Sharia-based quality management.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the understanding and application of the integration of Islamic values in mathematics learning in elementary schools. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, this study involved interviews, observations, and documentation to obtain the views of mathematics teachers who teach in elementary schools with a religion-based curriculum. The results showed that teachers' understanding of the integration of Islamic values varied, with some teachers emphasizing more on ethical and moral aspects, while others focused on spirituality and the order of the universe reflected in mathematics. The integration of values such as honesty, patience, and responsibility is considered to be able to enrich students' understanding of mathematics material while shaping their moral character. However, the challenge faced is how to effectively connect mathematical concepts with religious values in the existing curriculum. Active and project-based learning methods have proven effective in integrating Islamic values, although teachers still face difficulties in implementing them. This study is expected to contribute to the development of learning models that integrate religious values in mathematics education in elementary schools.

Abstract

Teenagers have a strategic role as the nation's next generation, but their transition period is often marked by various challenges. The physical, psychological and social changes that occur in teenagers encourage them to search for their identity while facing risks such as bullying, brawls, motorbike gangs, drug abuse and other deviant behavior.  The purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between identity styles and risk behaviors in adolescents. Adolescence is often colored by the search for self-identity, which can affect their predisposition to risky behaviors. Understanding these links is important for developing effective interventions in supporting healthy identity formation and preventing risky behaviors in adolescents. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to understand the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency in Cirebon and the factors that cause it, including aspects of the individual, family, environment, and society. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with adolescents who had engaged in delinquent behavior, their family members, community leaders, educators, and social workers. In addition, participatory observation is carried out in the environment where the adolescent lives in order to understand the social dynamics that influence their behavior. The analysis of the data was carried out with thematic analysis techniques, identifying patterns and themes that emerged from the data that had been collected. To increase the validity of the findings, data triangulation is used by comparing information from various sources, and member checking by asking informants to review the findings to ensure their accuracy and suitability to their experience. Data shows that cases of juvenile delinquency such as bullying, brawls and motorcycle gangs are often triggered by weak self-control, peer influence and lack of religious and moral guidance. Apart from that, globalization also accelerates access to negative information that influences adolescent behavior. To overcome this problem, various parties have carried out preventive and curative efforts, such as forming special teams, outreach in schools, rehabilitation, mentoring and law enforcement against juvenile delinquents. On the other hand, positive activities involving teenagers need to be increased to develop their potential, both in terms of skills, creativity and moral values. Collaborative efforts between families, schools, communities and government are needed to create an environment that supports the growth of teenagers into individuals who are responsible, independent and contribute to society. With the right guidance and support, teens can overcome their challenges and achieve a better future. The results of this study suggest that adolescents ' identity style plays an important role in their propensity for risky behavior. Adolescents with a diffuse-avoidant identity style, who tend to delay and avoid decision-making, are more prone to behaviors such as aggression, substance use, and delinquency. Conversely, adolescents with an informational and normative identity style, who are proactive in problem solving and adhere to social norms, show a lower tendency towards such behavior. These findings emphasize the need for interventions that encourage the development of healthy identities in adolescents. Educational programs in schools can be designed to encourage self-exploration and commitment to personal values, helping students develop a strong identity. In addition, parents need to be given an understanding of the influence of their level of education and parenting style on adolescent behavior, emphasizing the importance of a supportive and communicative family environment. Community initiatives should also be developed to provide opportunities for youth to engage in positive activities, such as sports or the arts, as safe channels for exploration and identity formation. Mental health support through counseling services that address identity diffusion and equip adolescents with coping strategies to resist peer pressure and avoid maladaptive behaviors is also very important. By adopting these strategies, stakeholders can create an environment that supports the development of a healthy identity, thereby reducing the prevalence of risky behavior among adolescents.

Abstract

Teachers ' commitment is the main driving force behind establishing pesantren education services. This research aims to identify a model of teacher commitment to curriculum enhancement. The study is qualitative, utilizing descriptive survey methodologies. According to the study's findings, data was collected through interviews with five informants, including Leaders, Coordinators, and various senior instructors. Pesantren's curriculum is structured around five orientations: holistic, skill development, based on local wisdom, character-oriented, and field-project-based. This perspective appears in the official and hidden curricula and is implemented through direct learning methods. Teachers' commitment to this pesantren is divided into three categories: affective commitment, which has an emotional influence; normative commitment, which demonstrates pedagogical characteristics; and continuous commitment, which prioritizes the pesantren's interests. Combining all of these factors leads to the efficacy of the educational program. The close bond among instructors at the Ar Raudlatul Hasanah and Darul Arafah Islamic Boarding School in Medan increases their dedication to the organization and improves the quality of education delivered to pupils. According to research conducted on these pesantren, social support, a sense of belonging, participation in professional growth, and a mentorship system all play a vital role in building a happy and effective educational environment. The study has implications for developing group activities that create friendship among teachers to foster commitment and the spirit of togetherness.
