Abstract

Mosques in contemporary Muslim minority societies no longer function solely as places of worship but also serve as important centers for social empowerment, education, community development, and intercultural interaction. In Australia, mosques play strategic roles in supporting Muslim communities through educational activities, social services, youth development, interfaith dialogue, humanitarian assistance, and cultural integration within multicultural society. This study aims to analyze the role of mosques as centers for social empowerment and community education in Australia and examine their contribution to strengthening social cohesion, religious understanding, and multicultural coexistence. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and contextual analysis of mosque activities, community development, and multicultural social dynamics in Australia. The findings indicate that mosques contribute significantly to religious education, social welfare, youth empowerment, family support, interfaith communication, and the preservation of Muslim identity within minority contexts. However, mosques also face challenges related to Islamophobia, funding limitations, generational differences, social integration, and negative public perceptions regarding Islam. The study emphasizes that strengthening inclusive educational programs, community participation, interfaith collaboration, and social outreach activities is essential for maximizing the positive role of mosques within Australian multicultural society. Therefore, mosques possess strong potential to function as constructive institutions promoting social harmony, education, and community empowerment in contemporary Australia.

Abstract

The discourse concerning women in contemporary Islamic perspectives continues to develop alongside social transformation, globalization, educational progress, and debates regarding gender equality and women’s rights. Islam recognizes the dignity, honor, and important social roles of women while also acknowledging natural differences between men and women in certain biological and social dimensions. However, interpretations regarding equality and women’s nature often generate debate within contemporary Muslim societies, particularly concerning education, leadership, employment, family roles, and public participation. This study aims to analyze women’s positions in contemporary Islamic perspectives by examining the relationship between gender equality and women’s natural characteristics within social and religious contexts. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and contextual analysis of Islamic teachings, gender discourse, and contemporary social realities. The findings indicate that Islam fundamentally upholds human dignity, justice, educational rights, social participation, and ethical equality between men and women while recognizing complementary roles and biological distinctions between genders. The study also reveals that contemporary challenges such as patriarchal culture, gender discrimination, globalization, and modern feminist discourse influence interpretations regarding women’s roles in Muslim societies. Therefore, balanced understanding integrating Islamic values, social justice, and recognition of women’s nature is essential for promoting women’s empowerment and harmonious social development in contemporary society.

Abstract

The moral crisis among adolescents has become a serious social issue in contemporary society, characterized by increasing juvenile delinquency, violence, drug abuse, cyberbullying, promiscuity, disrespect toward parents and teachers, and declining ethical awareness. Rapid technological development, globalization, social media influence, weak family supervision, and declining moral education contribute significantly to changes in adolescent behavior and values. This study aims to analyze the importance of revitalizing moral education as an effort to overcome the moral crisis among adolescents and examine the role of families, schools, communities, and religious institutions in strengthening moral character development. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and contextual analysis of moral education, adolescent development, and contemporary social challenges. The findings indicate that moral education plays an essential role in shaping adolescents’ ethical awareness, self-control, empathy, responsibility, discipline, and social behavior. Effective moral education requires integration between cognitive understanding, emotional development, spiritual values, and practical moral habits within everyday life. The study also reveals that collaboration among parents, teachers, communities, and digital media literacy programs is necessary to address contemporary moral challenges affecting adolescents. Therefore, revitalizing moral education based on ethical, religious, and humanitarian values is essential for developing responsible, morally conscious, and socially constructive younger generations in modern society.

Abstract

The concept of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin represents one of the fundamental principles of Islam emphasizing mercy, compassion, justice, tolerance, and peace for all creation. In multicultural societies such as Iraq, where diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural groups coexist, the implementation of Islamic values of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin becomes highly important for maintaining social harmony, national unity, and peaceful coexistence. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic values of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin in multicultural life in Iraq and examine their relevance in addressing social conflict, sectarian tension, and cultural diversity within contemporary society. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and contextual analysis of Islamic teachings, multiculturalism, and social conditions in Iraq. The findings indicate that Islamic values emphasizing compassion, justice, tolerance, moderation, and social solidarity contribute positively to strengthening peaceful intercommunal relations and promoting social cohesion in multicultural environments. However, the implementation of these values faces challenges related to sectarian conflict, political instability, extremism, social polarization, and historical tensions among communities. The study emphasizes that strengthening inclusive Islamic education, interfaith dialogue, ethical leadership, and community cooperation is essential for promoting the values of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin within Iraqi society. Therefore, revitalizing Islamic humanitarian values can contribute significantly to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and sustainable social harmony in multicultural national life.

Abstract

Environmental degradation and ecological crises have become global challenges affecting human life, biodiversity, and the sustainability of natural resources. Climate change, deforestation, pollution, excessive exploitation of natural resources, and ecological imbalance increasingly threaten social stability and environmental sustainability worldwide. In Islamic teachings, the environment is viewed as a divine trust (amanah) that must be protected and managed responsibly by humans as stewards (khalifah) on earth. This study aims to analyze environmental and ecological issues through thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhu’i) from an Islamic perspective and examine the relevance of Qur’anic teachings to contemporary ecological crises. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses, Hadith, and scholarly interpretations related to environmental ethics, ecological balance, and human responsibility toward nature. The findings indicate that Islam strongly emphasizes environmental preservation, moderation in resource utilization, prohibition of environmental destruction, and ethical responsibility toward all living beings. Qur’anic teachings concerning balance (mizan), stewardship, sustainability, and justice provide important ethical foundations for addressing modern ecological crises. The study also reveals that environmental damage is closely connected to human greed, consumerism, and irresponsible exploitation of natural resources. Therefore, strengthening ecological awareness through Islamic ethical values and environmental education is essential for promoting sustainable development and environmental responsibility in contemporary society.

Abstract

Inclusive education has become an important approach in ensuring equal educational opportunities for all children, including children with special needs. In the context of Islamic education, inclusivity reflects Islamic values emphasizing justice, compassion, equality, and respect for human dignity. This study aims to examine the implementation of inclusive Islamic education for children with special needs and analyze its relevance within contemporary educational contexts. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and contextual analysis of inclusive education, Islamic educational philosophy, and special needs learning practices. The findings indicate that inclusive Islamic education contributes positively to the cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual development of children with special needs by providing accessible, supportive, and non-discriminatory learning environments. Islamic teachings encourage equal treatment, empathy, and social responsibility toward all individuals regardless of physical, intellectual, or social differences. However, the implementation of inclusive Islamic education still faces several challenges, including limited teacher competence, inadequate educational facilities, lack of adaptive learning methods, and social stigma toward children with disabilities. The study emphasizes that collaboration among educational institutions, families, communities, and government agencies is necessary to strengthen inclusive Islamic educational practices. Therefore, implementing inclusive Islamic education based on Islamic ethical values is essential for promoting educational equity, social inclusion, and holistic development for children with special needs in contemporary society.

Abstract

Tolerance is one of the fundamental values in Islam that plays an important role in maintaining social harmony, peaceful coexistence, and unity within pluralistic societies. The teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as recorded in the Hadith contain numerous examples and principles emphasizing compassion, justice, respect for diversity, and peaceful interaction among individuals regardless of religious, ethnic, or cultural differences. This study aims to examine the values of tolerance in the Hadith and analyze their relevance to national life in contemporary society. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and contextual analysis of Hadith literature, Islamic teachings on tolerance, and contemporary social conditions. The findings indicate that the Hadith strongly promotes values such as mutual respect, social justice, peaceful dialogue, moderation, and protection of human dignity. These teachings remain highly relevant for strengthening national unity, preventing social conflict, and promoting harmonious coexistence in multicultural societies. The study also reveals that tolerance in Islam does not imply weakening religious identity but rather encourages balanced attitudes based on wisdom, humanity, and ethical interaction. In modern national life characterized by diversity and globalization, the implementation of tolerance values derived from the Hadith can contribute significantly to social stability, democratic culture, and peaceful intercommunal relations. Therefore, strengthening understanding of tolerant Islamic teachings is essential for fostering inclusive citizenship and maintaining national integrity in contemporary society.

Abstract

Mental health has become one of the most critical issues in modern society due to increasing psychological pressures, social competition, technological dependency, and weakening spiritual awareness. This study aims to examine the relevance of Sufi values in maintaining mental health within contemporary social life. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature review and contextual analysis of Sufi teachings related to emotional well-being, spiritual resilience, and psychological balance. Data were collected from classical Islamic literature, contemporary psychological studies, and scholarly discussions concerning spirituality and mental health. The findings indicate that Sufi values such as dhikr (remembrance of God), tawakkul (trust in God), sabr (patience), zuhud (moderation toward worldly attachment), and tazkiyat al-nafs (self-purification) significantly contribute to emotional stability, stress reduction, and psychological resilience. These spiritual practices help individuals manage anxiety, strengthen self-awareness, develop meaningful life perspectives, and maintain positive social relationships. The study also reveals that Sufi teachings provide holistic approaches integrating spiritual, emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of human well-being. In addition, collective spiritual practices within Sufi communities contribute to social support and emotional connectedness, which are important factors in mental health maintenance. Despite modern misconceptions that Sufism is outdated or detached from contemporary realities, the findings demonstrate that Sufi values remain highly relevant for addressing existential crises and psychological challenges in modern society. Therefore, integrating Sufi principles into educational, social, and mental health frameworks may offer valuable strategies for promoting emotional balance and spiritual well-being in contemporary life.

Abstract

Islamic family education plays a fundamental role in shaping children’s character development amid contemporary social and technological challenges. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic family education as the foundation for children’s moral, spiritual, emotional, and social formation within the family environment. The study employs a participatory educational and qualitative approach through community service activities involving parents, educators, and community members. Data were obtained through observations, interactive discussions, parenting workshops, and mentoring activities related to Islamic parenting practices. The findings indicate that Islamic family education significantly contributes to the development of positive character traits such as honesty, discipline, empathy, responsibility, respect, and emotional resilience among children. Religious habituation, positive communication, parental role modeling, and consistent moral guidance were identified as the primary factors supporting effective character formation. However, modern challenges such as digital media exposure, limited family interaction time, and globalization increasingly influence children’s behavior and weaken parental authority. Therefore, adaptive parenting strategies integrating Islamic values with contemporary educational approaches are necessary to strengthen children’s character in the modern era. The study also reveals that collaboration between family, school, and community environments enhances the effectiveness of Islamic character education. Overall, Islamic family education remains highly relevant in fostering morally responsible, spiritually grounded, and socially conscious future generations. The study contributes to the discourse on Islamic education by emphasizing the importance of strengthening family-based moral education as a response to current societal challenges.
