Abstract

This study aims to systematically review existing literature on the relationship between gender and exit exams in higher education, identifying key trends, challenges, and gaps in current research. This systematic review explores the intersection of gender and exit exams in higher education, synthesizing findings from 20 studies published between 1994 and 2024. The review examines how gender influences students’ performance, perceptions, and outcomes related to exit exams, as well as the broader implications for equity and quality assurance in higher education. Using the PRISMA framework, a comprehensive search was conducted across academic databases, yielding 587 articles. After screening for relevance, 32 studies were included based on predefined inclusion criteria. Data extraction focused on authorship, objectives, methodologies, geographic contexts, and gender-specific issues. The results reveal significant disparities in how male and female students perceive and perform in exit exams, with women often reporting higher anxiety levels but demonstrating comparable or superior performance in certain disciplines. The narrative analysis highlights the role of sociocultural factors, institutional policies, and exam design in shaping these outcomes. This review underscores the need for gender-sensitive approaches to designing and implementing exit exams, ensuring equitable opportunities for all students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of internalizing the value of responsibility through a worship habituation program in increasing the religious awareness of elementary school students. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at SDIT Luqman Al Hakim 2 Yogyakarta. The research subjects consisted of the principal, vice principal for curriculum, Islamic Religious Education teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of school activities related to the implementation of worship habituation. The data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the internalization of the value of responsibility occurs through three stages: value transformation, value transaction, and value transinternalization. These stages are implemented through various structured and continuous worship habituation activities, including dhuha prayer, congregational prayer, dhikr, Qur’an recitation, and morning assemblies. Through these activities, students gain cognitive understanding of responsibility in worship and gradually develop affective awareness and behavioral practice in daily life. The study indicates that worship habituation serves as an effective medium for internalizing responsibility values and strengthening students’ religious awareness, contributing to the development of character education based on religious values in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by a 14.11% decline in students’ Qur’an memorisation quality at SMAIT Bina Umat Yogyakarta over the past three academic years, which was associated with below-standard reading proficiency, conventional instructional approaches, and limited optimisation of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers’ leadership in mentoring activities. This study aimed to formulate and analyse a transformational leadership model of PAI teachers as a strategic effort to achieve memorisation quality targets. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The research subjects consisted of six PAI teachers and six students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and analysed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal a transformational leadership model characterised by exemplary influence, Inspirational Motivation, intellectual stimulation, and Individualized Consideration integrated into spiritual mentoring practices. The model strengthens students’ commitment, learning discipline, and memorisation strategies. Students’ memorisation quality generally met institutional standards, including tajwid accuracy, articulation, reading fluency, and a minimum memorisation target of 1.5 juz annually. Leadership practices demonstrated measurable improvement in memorisation outcomes, with reading fluency achievement ranging from 88% to 98% of students. The study concludes that the transformational leadership model is an effective strategic approach for achieving sustainable targets for memorisation quality.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenge of moral degradation among adolescents in the era of technological disruption and the low level of early religiosity among students in coastal vocational schools. Data shows that 75% of students do not perform mandatory prayers at home, and the majority are not yet proficient in reading the Quran. This research aims to analyze the strategy of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering students' religious character through the flagship program of sujud, rajin, and ngaji (SURJAN) at SMKN 1 Tepus. The method used is qualitative with a case study type. The research results indicate that the PAI teachers' strategy is implemented through three pillars of SURJAN, namely, first, sujud (habit of praying in congregation), second, rajin (5S culture and industrial discipline), and third, ngaji (reading the Quran). The impact of this strategy is an increase in the frequency of mandatory prayers at home by up to 80% and an improvement in the ability to read the Quran.
