Abstract

Shrimp waste consisting of heads, shells, legs and tails contains several components such as protein, chitin, enzymes, minerals, carotenoids, and others. One type of carotenoid found in shrimp waste is astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is a carotenoid pigment with higher antioxidant activity compared to other β-carotene and vitamin E derivatives. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of astaxanthin in the shells of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) from West Malangke District. The astaxanthin compound contained in vannamei shrimp shells was extracted using the UAE method and liquid-liquid extraction. The percentage value of the reduction is 0.486%. Qualitative analysis used thin layer chromatography (TLC) and quantitative analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. TLC analysis on the sample obtained an Rf value of 0.254. Analysis by UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a maximum wavelength of 203 nm obtained y = 0.1513x – 0.0819, correlation coefficient (r) = 0.9947, Vx0 = 4.64%, and the average level of astaxanthin = 73.2 %.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a condition where cells lose control and normal mechanisms, resulting in abnormal, fast and uncontrolled cell growth that occurs in the breast. Breast cancer is the most feared disease by women. One of the treatments is chemotherapy. The purpose of this study is to find out how the development of breast cancer chemotherapy treatment. As for the research method, this research uses literature review, in the search for literature sourced from 2 databases (Pubmed and Google Scholar) using keywords according to the theme. Where the results obtained show that chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer has developed where it has been found that monoclonal antibody therapy and gene therapy have been proven to increase disease-free expectations in breast cancer patients.

Abstract

Lung cancer is all malignancy in the lung, including malignancy originating from the lung itself (primary). In clinical terms, what is meant by primary lung cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the bronchial epithelium. Current anti-lung cancer therapy has the goal of inhibiting the activity of EGFR. One of the substances that inhibits the action of EGFR is Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI). Osimertinib has the potential to inhibit the phosphorylation of cells containing EGFR mutations. This review article aims to determine the ability of osimertinib compounds and their derivatives as lung cancer therapeutic agents against tyrosine kinase receptors using the molecular docking method. The research method used is literature review using two databases, namely Pubmed and Google Scholar for the last 10 years from 2013-2023. And the results obtained are that Osimertinib can be used as a lung cancer therapeutic agent against tyrosine kinase receptors

Abstract

Hospital Pharmacy Installation (IFRS) is a functional implementing unit organizes all pharmaceutical service activities in hospitals, which functions to carry out the management of pharmaceutical supplies with the stages of selecting, planning, procuring, storing, distributing, controlling, deleting, recording and reporting. This study aims to determine the stages of management of pharmaceutical supplies in West Sulawesi Provincial Hospital using descriptive qualitative research through interviews and observation (observation). In this study guided interviews that have been arranged systematically using a check list. The results of this study reveal that the management of pharmaceutical preparations in the Pharmacy Installation of the West Sulawesi Provincial Hospital has been effective and efficient from several aspects of management which shows a percentage of 80-100%. However, the procurement and storage aspect are still inefficient because the expenditure has not gone through the e-catalog and there is no fire extinguisher. The drug management system at the Pharmacy Installation of the West Sulawesi Provincial Hospital is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 72 of 2016 and Technical Guidelines for Pharmaceutical Standards in Hospitals in 2019.

Abstract

Antibiotika adalah obat untuk mencegah dan mengobati infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri, penggunaannya yang tidak tepat selain menjadi pemborosan secara ekonomi juga berbahaya secara klinik, yaitu menyebabkan resistensi bakteri terhadap antibiotik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengetahuan masyarakat di Desa Manakku tentang penggunaan antibiotik Responden yang digunakan oleh peneliti yaitu masyarakat yang berdomisili di desa manakku kecamatan labakkang kabupaten pangkajene dan kepulauan dengan proyeksi jumlah penduduk 1.400 jiwa. Setelah di kategorikan berdasarkan dengan kriteria inklusi dan ekslusi sehingga diperoleh data akhir untuk responden yang memenuhi kriteria tersebut yaitu 71 responden. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik di Desa Manakku sebagian besar responden yaitu 32 responden dengan (45,0%) memiliki pengetahuan cukup. Angka ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahun responden tersebut masuk tergolong cukup.

Abstract

The management of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and consumable medical materials is a cycle of activities, starting from selection, needs planning, procurement, receipt, storage, distribution, destruction and withdrawal, monitoring, and administration. This research aims to find out what management is like at Prof. Hospital. Dr. H. Anwar Makkatutu, Bantaeng Regency, and its compliance with the regulations in force in Indonesia. This research is descriptive and qualitative using guided interview methods as well as o, observation, review. The results showed that: the management was not fully in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 72 of 2016 concerning pharmaceutical service standards in hospitals while the management aspects that were not yet in accordance were accepted with a percentage of 77.77%, storage with a percentage of 93.54%, distribution with a percentage 85.71%, and destruction and withdrawal with a percentage of 85.71%.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit free radical reactions in the body. Synthetic antioxidants are often used for food but their use is limited because they are toxic. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of mangosteen fruit samples. The method used in this test is the DPPH method. This test was carried out by adding 1 mL of the test solution with 4 mL of 40 ppm DPPH. The absorbance was measured with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 498 nm and the IC50 value was calculated based on the absorbance data. The calculation results show that there is antioxidant activity in the ethanol extract of mangosteen fruit (Phyllantus reticulatus) with an IC50 value of 2.278 ppm, that is, these results show very strong antioxidant activity, and quercetin as a comparison has a very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 4.184 ppm. Abstract

Dengen (Dillenia serrata Thumb.) merupakan tumbuhan endemik yang tumbuh liar di Sulawesi. Buahnya memiliki beberapa manfaat salah satunya sebagai obat sariawan karena memiliki kadar vitamin C tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan menentukan nilai parameter spesifik dan non spesifik ekstrak buah dengen (Dillenia serrata Thumb.). Sampel diperoleh dari Kecamatan Malili, Kabupaten Luwu Timur Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, dimaserasi dengan etanol 96% sebanyak 3 L kemudian dilakukan pengujian parameter spesifik dan non spesifik. Penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak buah dengen (Dillenia serrata Thumb.) memberikan hasil sesuai parameter standar umum ekstrak tumbuhan obat dengan nilai parameter spesifik sebagai berikut: ekstrak berbentuk kental, berwarna coklat pekat kehitaman, berbau khas; kadar senyawa larut dalam air yakni 16,0384%; kadar senyawa larut dalam etanol yakni 16,9811%; positif mengandung senyawa alkaloid, polifenol, flavanoid, terpenoid dan saponin; dan nilai parameter non spesifik sebagai berikut: susut pengeringan yakni 0,0615%; kadar air yakni 3,8052%; kadar abu total yakni 5,0599%, kadar abu tidak larut dalam asam yakni 0,4807%.

Abstract

Matoa plant (Pometia pinnata) is a typical Papuan plant included in the Sapindaceae family which can relieve hypertension and has diuretic, antidiabetic and antioxidant activities. Matoa leaves contain chemical alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and steroids. The purpose of this study was to determine the toxic effect and LC50 value of n-hexan extract of matoa leaves against Artemia Salina Leach larvae. Extraction is carried out by maceration method with n-hexane solvent. The n-hexan extract of matoa leaves is prepared in a test solution with concentration variations of 500 ppm, 750 ppm, 1000 ppm, and 1500 ppm. Toxicity testing was carried out using Artemia Salina Leach larvae then the toxic effect of the extract was identified with the percentage of death of Artemia Salina Leach larvae using probit analysis (LC50). The results of this study showed the highest mortality at a concentration of 1500 ppm with the death of 30 larvae. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that matoa leaf extract (Pometia pinnata) has a toxic effect on Artemia Salina Leach larvae with a Lethal Concentration value of 50 (LC50) of 509.577 ppm and is included in the toxic category.

Abstract

Tablets are pharmaceutical preparations that are most widely used by the public compared to other pharmaceutical preparations. One type of tablet is lozenges which are solid preparations containing one or more medicinal ingredients, generally with flavorful and sweet ingredients, which can make the tablet dissolve or disintegrate slowly in the mouth. Polyvinyl pyrylone K-30 (PVP K-30) binder has an advantage over other binders, as it can increase the hardness of tablets, making tablets a compact preparation. Arabic gum also has good flow properties, pharmacologically inert, has good compressibility and compactness. The purpose of the review is to determine the pharmaceutical properties of herbal lozenges that use PVP K-30 and Arabic gum as binders. The method used in reviewing this review is an electronic literature study by accessing journal search sites related to the keyword " PVP K-30 lozenges and gum arabic lozenges". Binder material as one of the ingredients needed in lozenges because the binder can determine the level of hardness, brittleness and destruction time of lozenges. PVP binders and gum arabic are examples of binders that have good flow properties and stationary angles, and for hardness PVP tablets are good binders, but if the concentration used is high then the brittleness level is reduced.
