Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of niat (religious intention) and ikhlas (sincerity) as spiritual motivators in the work motivation of madrasah teachers through the integration of Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory with Islamic values. The study is grounded in the issue of low teacher welfare in madrasahs, which challenges the assumptions of conventional motivation theories that primarily emphasize material factors. This research employed a qualitative approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) involving 15 purposively selected informants from MTs An-Nizham Jambi City. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that hygiene factors, such as low salaries and limited facilities, did not become the primary source of demotivation because they were compensated by spiritual orientations through niat lillahi ta‘ala and ikhlas. Niat functioned as an intrinsic motivation that provided transcendental meaning to teaching, while ikhlas served as a psychological-spiritual buffer in dealing with material limitations. This study extends Herzberg’s Theory by demonstrating that spirituality can function as a compensatory factor within faith-based organizations. The findings are also relevant for the development of human resource management in value-based and religious organizations.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Prophetic Leadership in fostering organizational resilience within Islamic schools during the volatile post-pandemic era. Utilizing a qualitative phenomenological approach and a multi-site case study design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, passive observations, and documentation analysis at several resilient Islamic institutions. The findings reveal that prophetic traits—Shiddiq (integrity), Amanah (accountability), Tabligh (communication), and Fathonah (intelligence)—collectively function as both a "value anchor" and an "innovation engine". Shiddiq and Amanah establish a foundation of trust that reduces bureaucratic friction, while Tabligh and Fathonah drive strategic communication and pedagogical innovation. Uniquely, this research identifies "Transcendental Resilience," where spiritual values transform crises into opportunities for growth, mitigating educator burnout. Theoretically, this study positions prophetic traits as pragmatic managerial competencies rather than mere theological norms. Practically, it provides a strategic framework for school leaders to maintain competitiveness and stability amidst global uncertainty.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media has transformed philanthropy into highly visible digital self-presentation, giving rise to "charity flexing." While previous research examines this through Islamic law and ethics, comprehensive thematic (maudhu'i) analyses of philanthropic verses remain limited. This study aims to analyze the Qur'anic concept of philanthropy and its relevance to social media flexing. Employing a qualitative library research approach, this study utilizes the thematic interpretation method to collect and analyze verses related to zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF). The findings reveal that Qur'anic philanthropy is grounded in sincerity, social justice, public welfare, and solidarity. Furthermore, the ethical distinction between commendable digital philanthropy and problematic flexing lies in intention, motivation, and social impact. Publicly displaying charity can boost social awareness and transparency; however, it risks riya’ (ostentation) when driven by self-promotion. This study contributes an integrated ethical framework to understand digital philanthropy and online self-presentation, concluding that digital-era philanthropic practices must balance spiritual sincerity with social responsibility, supported by digital ethical literacy to prevent the normalization of performative charity.

Abstract

The era of financial digitalization triggers behavioral pathologies among Muslim Generation Z through Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), driving impulsive consumption (israf). While existing literature narrowly positions Sharia financial literacy as a passive, theoretical cognitive instrument, this study aims to conceptualize the active moderating roles of Sharia financial literacy and digital philanthropy in mitigating these algorithm-driven distortions. Employing a Qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR) via the PRISMA protocol, 24 peer-reviewed articles (2019–2025) were analyzed from Google Scholar, Crossref, and Dimensions using Publish or Perish. The primary novelty of this study lies in its theoretical synthesis, introducing the "Transcendental Moral Filter Ecosystem". This innovative model restructures the expanded Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by integrating transcendental accountability (Hifdz al-Mal within the Maqasid Sharia framework) as an active value anchor. The findings demonstrate that cyber-based Sharia literacy acts as a dynamic moral filter, reorienting FoMO-driven positional consumption into productive economic decisions through digital philanthropy optimization (Ziswaf). This study offers a vital structural framework for academics and regulators in formulating Islamic financial education strategies resilient to modern cyber pathologies.

Abstract

The Major losses are often understood solely as natural events without linking them to theological-ecological dimensions. This study aims to explain the causal factors of the disaster, interpret the ecological verses of the Qur'an through a thematic (maudūʿī) approach, and articulate the relevance of its message as a basis for ecological ethics. This study uses a qualitative method based on literature (library research) by collecting and analyzing the Qur'an through interpretations of Quraish Shihab, Hamka, and al-Marāghī, combined with empirical disaster data. The results of the study indicate that the ecological framework in Quranic exegesis is categorized into roles: humans as khalīfah fī al-ardḍ, entrusted with safeguarding the earth; the prohibition of ifsād as the operational norm of this mandate; and fasād as an empirical diagnosis and a call to yarjiʿūn. These findings have implications for the basis of Islamic environmental ethics (tawḥīd, amānah, ʿadl), which can be implemented through fiqh al-bī'ah and by strengthening the ecological awareness of Muslim communities.

Extremes in religion are a serious problem when looking at the country's heterogeneity and multiculturalism level. The results of extremes tend to give birth to religiously labeled conflicts, which require religious moderation to be embodied, one of which is through educational channels. Learning that is an aspect of education can be used as a path to implement religious moderation. Moreover, this study aims to reveal the concept of religious moderation according to M. Quraish Shihab and its application to learning Islamic religious education. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of research library research. Data collection techniques are documentation and content analysis as analytical techniques. From this study, several findings were found that religious moderation is a middle position (balance) in religion, meaning that it stands between two opposing sides of the extreme, while the purpose of religious moderation is to create a just, consistent, firm, and balanced perspective on both worldly and ukhrawi affairs. Moreover, religious moderation can be applied through learning methods such as discussions, group work, and tourist work.

Abstract

Flexing, or showing off wealth, has become a new phenomenon that has caused a stir on social media. This study aims to discuss flexing from the perspective of hadith. This study uses a qualitative approach by applying a descriptive-analytical method. The formal object of this research is a psychological approach by analyzing the hadith matan. The material object of this research is the phenomenon of flexing behaviour on social media. The results of this study indicate that flexing behaviour is strictly forbidden based on the hadith narrated by Abu Dawud No. 3511. The discussion of this study explains that flexing is done when a person has insecurity about himself. Flexing practitioners tend to have emotional intelligence: awareness, empathy, self-regulations, and low social skills. Real rich people never flaunt their wealth, so people flexing their wealth mean they are not really rich. The wealth of the heart is not from material things but is in a heart full of empathy.
