Abstract

Labor is one of the most important assets for a company. However, human resources are not free from work-related issues. Ensuring comfort and safety at work can foster enthusiasm among employees. At PT XYZ BATAM, employees in the mixing department who manually and repeatedly pour materials have reported physical complaints. The aim of this study is to minimize the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), identify the complaints experienced by workers, and design an ergonomic jumbo bag lifting aid to help improve poor working posture and enhance comfort. This research uses the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method to analyze working posture and the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire to identify physical complaints. The Need, Idea, Decision, Action (NIDA) method is used to gather information needed by workers to reduce workplace issues and to develop new lifting aid designs based on previous tools. The results of the NBM questionnaire serve as the basis for the design process. The study found that workers experienced musculoskeletal complaints in the neck, back, waist, left thigh, right thigh, left knee, and right knee, with a moderate risk category. The most dominant complaint percentage reached 66.66%. As a solution, a jumbo bag lifting aid was designed with specifications of 100 cm in length, 100 cm in width, 120 cm in height, and a volume capacity of up to 1000 kg. This solution provides improved working comfort for employees.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a crucial aspect in ensuring the well-being of workers and supporting productivity and the continuity of work processes. However, at PT Candi Guna Mandiri, particularly within the Architectural Furniture installation division, there are still indications of low employee awareness regarding OSH practices, which may increase the risk of workplace accidents. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing employee awareness of OSH, including knowledge, attitude, training, managerial supervision, age, and work experience. The research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive-analytic design and total sampling involving 79 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that among the six independent variables examined, only two had a statistically significant relationship with OSH awareness: training (r = 0.279; r = 0.013) and managerial supervision (r = 0.410; r = 0.000). Other variables - knowledge, attitude, age, and work experience - did not show a significant correlation. It can be concluded that OSH awareness among employees is more influenced by institutional approaches, such as effective training and consistent supervision. Therefore, the company is advised to strengthen its training and supervision systems to foster a work culture that is more aware of occupational safety and health.

Abstract

In the modern industrial era, ergonomic challenges have become increasingly critical, particularly in manual labor sectors that are highly prone to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This study aims to design ergonomic work facilities in the Store Department of PT NOK Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, specifically for the pallet transfer process, which is still performed manually. The research methodology integrates the Nordic Body Map (NBM) for identifying MSD complaints, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) for evaluating working postures, and the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) for developing ergonomic solutions. The study involved three workers, selected using a saturated sampling technique due to the small population. NBM questionnaire results indicated high levels of physical discomfort, especially in the shoulders, back, and knees. REBA assessments revealed an average risk score of 7, categorized as high, indicating the urgent need for intervention. The ergonomic table was designed based on workers’ anthropometric data and the ENASE ergonomic aspects (Effective, Comfortable, Safe, Healthy, Efficient). The proposed design successfully reduced the REBA score 7, demonstrating a significant improvement in work safety and comfort. This study concludes that applying ergonomic design based on anthropometric data and the EFD method effectively reduces the risk of injury caused by poor working posture, while enhancing efficiency and worker well-being in industrial environments

Abstract

Web application security is becoming increasingly important due to the rise of threats such as SQL Injection, which exploits vulnerabilities to access sensitive data. As one of the most severe types of attacks, SQL Injection compromises the confidentiality, integrity, and access control of a system. Intrusion Detection Systems such as Snort and Suricata are used to detect and mitigate this. This study compares the effectiveness of Snort and Suricata in detecting SQL Injection using an experimental setup. The vulnerable web application (DVWA) was installed on Ubuntu, while attacks were launched from Kali Linux. Both IDS tools were configured to monitor network traffic and detect intrusions based on predefined rules. Performance was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Suricata outperformed Snort in all metrics, Suricata also demonstrated faster detection. These results indicate that Suricata is more accurate and efficient at detecting SQL injection attacks in the test environment.

Abstract

In this digital era, technological advancements have transformed many manual activities into digital ones, making them easier to manage. One of these is in the field of buying and selling products, where before the existence of digitalization, product sales still used conventional methods, especially in recording transactions. The method of recording transactions using transaction notebooks often suffers from damage and human errors in recording transactions and consumes costs and effort. With the advent of digitalization, developing an Android-based sales application using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method allows us to quickly build Android-based applications using the Flutter framework and design the system using Unified Modeling Language (UML) to get an overview of the system being created. By using the Android-based sales application with the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method we can understand the speed and efficiency of designing applications, and through digital-based applications, we can increase sales and reduce human errors and various unwanted incidents.

Abstract

Chili plants require proper and consistent irrigation to ensure healthy growth and optimal crop yields. However, in many agricultural settings, especially in small to medium-scale farming, the absence of a real-time monitoring system often leads to under-watering or over-watering. These issues can result in wilting, root damage, or even crop failure. To address this challenge, this study presents the development of a soil moisture monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system integrates a soil moisture sensor (YL-69), NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, and the Blynk mobile application. The NodeMCU acts as the main controller that receives data from the sensor, processes it, and transmits the information to the Blynk platform via Wifi. The Blynk app provides a user-friendly interface that displays soil moisture conditions in real-time. Moisture levels are categorized into three conditions: dry (<50%), normal (50–70%), and wet (>70%). A Gauge widget shows the moisture percentage visually in analog form, while the SuperChart logs the historical moisture data. When moisture falls below 50%, the system triggers a notification alert to the user. The test results demonstrate accurate sensor readings, real-time data transmission, and effective notification delivery. Overall, this system enhances irrigation decision-making and helps farmers maintain optimal soil moisture, thereby improving the sustainability and productivity of chili cultivation.
