Abstract

Background: The old age is a period that cannot be avoided by anyone, especially for those who are endowed with long life, which can be done by humans is only to prevent the aging process so that it is not too fast, because in essence the aging process occurs a setback. or decrease. One of them is a decline in cognitive function, cognitive decline in the elderly can include various aspects, namely orientation, registration, attention, and calculations, memory and language. The problem of this research is the decline in cognitive function in the elderly can cause problems including long memory and information processing, in the long memory of the elderly it will be difficult to reveal new information or stories or events that are not so interesting. Methods: The design in this study uses Quasi Experimental with Non Randomized Control Group Pre-Test-Post Test Design approach. This type of research is the procedure of giving pre test before treatment and post test after treatment using a questionnaire instrument. The population in this study were 30 elderly people, while the study sample was 28 people. Result: the results of research conducted on July 19, 2019 to July 30, 2019, obtained data analysis with statistical tests using the Paired T-Test. The significance value or p value in the brain exercise function is 0,000 and the cognitive function is 0.002 with a significance level of 5% or α = 0.05. It is known that the correlation between before brain exercise and after brain exercise is 0.917. Conclusion: Because the significance value or p value α α = 0.05, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means there is an effectiveness of brain exercise for improving cognitive function in the elderly in Tegalan Village, Kandat District, Kediri Regency

Abstract

Old age causes a decrease in quality of life. Exercise inhibiting the decline in quality of life, however exercise can cause oxidative stress that causes tissue injury including in the liver. There are two types of exercise, weight-bearing and non-weight bearing exercise. It is unknown the type of exercise causes the least injury. This study aimed to analyze the differences in the inflammatory response shown by the degree of inflammation in the liver tissue of old female white mice who performed weight-bearing and non-weight bearing exercise. Thirty-six mice (mus musculus) were divided into 3 groups, control group (12), weight-bearing treatment group (12) and non-weight bearing treatment group (12). The weight bearing treatment consisted of running for 30 minutes, while the non-weight bearing treatment consisted of swimming for 30 minutes. Euthanized on the last day of 4th week. Microscopic evaluation of the degree of inflammation of the liver tissue was carried out according to the Batts and Ludwig method. Statistical analysis used the Kruskal Wallis method to determine whether there were differences in the degree of liver inflammation between groups. Mean value of inflammation degree in control group: 1,50 ± 0.552. Mean value of inflammation degree in weight-bearing exercise group: 1,92 ± 0.515. Mean value of inflammation degree in non-weight bearing exercise group: 1,92 ± 0.669. The Kruskal Wallis statistical test showed the P value 0.139. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the degree of inflammation in the mice liver after receiving weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing exercise treatments.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Poor eating habits such as lack of fiber, fatty foods can have an impact on health problems, one of which is appendicitis (Syamsul Hidayat, 2010). The appendix has a length of about 10 cm and can empty regularly into the cecum, but because the lumen is small, the appendix tends to become clogged and is especially susceptible to infection, so surgery must be performed (Smeltzer & Bare, 2002). One of the nursing diagnoses that appear in postoperative conditions is acute pain (Nanda NIC NOC, 2015). The pain management is pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is finger grip relaxation technique. The objective of this study was to identify the effectiveness of finger grip relaxation techniques on pain of postoperation appendicitis. The research method used literature review on research journals indexed by SINTA, Garuda and Google Scholar through PICO analysis. The method in this study was carried out using an experimental design. Research variables finger grip and postoperative pain. The population of this research was 10 journals from 2010-2021 with journal reputations that were used 2 medium reputation journals, 8 low reputation journals. The results of the study obtained a scale of postoperative pain before finger grip relaxation was carried out with a very heavy scale scale. There was a decrease in the pain scale before and after the finger gripping technique with p value of 0.000. Based on the results of this analysis, the finger grip relaxation technique was recommended as an effective relaxation technique in reducing pain.
