Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a common inflammatory skin condition among adolescents that can affect psychological aspects, particularly self-esteem and self-confidence, due to changes in physical appearance. This study aims to determine differences in self-esteem and self-confidence among adolescents with acne vulgaris based on gender. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 90 adolescents, including 37 males and 53 females, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test because they were not normally distributed. The results showed no significant difference in self-esteem between male and female adolescents (p = 0.434). However, there was a significant difference in self-confidence (p = 0.009), with female adolescents exhibiting higher levels of self-confidence compared to males. In conclusion, gender does not affect self-esteem but does influence self-confidence among adolescents with acne vulgaris.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding remains a major public health concern because its coverage has not yet reached national and global targets, despite the relatively high level of maternal knowledge regarding breastfeeding. Husband’s involvement has been recognized as an important source of social support that may be associated with successful exclusive breastfeeding practice. This study aimed to examine the relationship between husband’s involvement and exclusive breastfeeding practice among mothers attending a community health center in Tangerang City. This study was a secondary analysis of cross-sectional data collected in 2024 from mothers attending a community health center in Tangerang City. The population consisted of 120 eligible mothers, and a minimum sample size of 93 participants was determined using the Slovin formula. Husband’s involvement was categorized as involved or less involved based on the support provided during the breastfeeding period. Exclusive breastfeeding practice was defined as providing only breast milk during the first six months of life. The association between both variables was assessed using the Chi-square test. The findings showed that 52.7% of mothers did not practice exclusive breastfeeding and 54.8% reported low husband’s involvement. Mothers whose husbands were involved were more likely to practice exclusive breastfeeding than those whose husbands were less involved.  Statistical analysis demonstrated that husband’s involvement was significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding practice among mothers (p < 0.001; OR = 13.333; 95% CI: 4.933–36.035). These findings highlight the importance of family-centered breastfeeding promotion programs that actively engage husbands in supporting breastfeeding mothers and should be interpreted as an association rather than a causal relationship.

Abstract

Food safety is a critical component of public health, particularly within large-scale nutrition programs such as Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG). Institutional kitchens, including Nutrition Service Units (SPPG), play a key role in ensuring food quality and safety. This study aimed to analyze the effect of food handlers’ personal hygiene and kitchen sanitation practices on physical food contamination in Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) in Kediri City. This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in 29 SPPG in Kediri City, with a total population of 580 food handlers. A sample of 237 respondents were selected through simple random sampling. The independent variables were food handlers’ personal hygiene and kitchen sanitation practices, while the dependent variable was physical food contamination. Data were collected using an observation checklist and analyzed by ordinal regression. The results of the ordinal regression analysis showed a statistically significant effect of food handlers’ personal hygiene and kitchen sanitation on physical food contamination (p < 0.05). The findings indicate that better hygiene practices and proper sanitation are associated with a lower risk of physical food contamination in SPPG. . Personal hygiene of food handlers and kitchen sanitation practices significantly influence the occurrence of physical food contamination in SPPG.

Abstract

As Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) evolves into a sophisticated discipline, standardizing professional recognition is critical. This scoping review maps certification mechanisms and governance models to identify effective system components. A scoping review following Arksey and O'Malley's framework was conducted. Three databases (Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL) and grey literature sources were searched in March 2026. Data were extracted and synthesized using narrative thematic analysis. Analyzing 30 sources from 1976 to 2024, we identify four governance models and a shift toward capability-based frameworks. Results indicate that effective systems utilize independent examinations and two-tier structures, whereas reliance on short-duration training or portfolio assessment risks limited professional capability. The review suggests that robust professionalization requires aligning education, examination, and governance, suggesting developing nations adopt rigorous, standardized assessment to ensure workforce capability.

Abstract

Hospital service quality shapes patient experience and recommendations. This study examined the association between perceived service quality and patients' willingness to recommend a hospital. A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using secondary survey data from 306 randomly sampled respondents. Service quality was measured via 11 Likert-type indicators (Cronbach's alpha = 0.813); willingness to recommend was dichotomized (Yes/No). Descriptive statistics and simple binary logistic regression were applied. Most respondents were female (53.59%) and used the BPJS Kesehatan payment pathway (95.10%). The mean service-quality score was 3.80 (SD = 0.29), and 94.12% were willing to recommend the hospital. Logistic regression showed that every 0.1-point increase in the service-quality score was associated with higher odds of willingness to recommend (OR = 1.85; 95% CI = 1.50–2.29; p < 0.001). Perceived service quality significantly predicts recommendation willingness, supporting patient-experience improvement strategies, despite cross-sectional design limitations.

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents remains a major public health concern due to its potential negative consequences, including unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and psychosocial problems. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of audiovisual media in improving knowledge regarding premarital sexual behavior among Grade XII students at State Vocational High School 1 Merangin. A quantitative study with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted involving 75 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered before and after the intervention and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Before the intervention, most respondents had poor knowledge (55%), while after the intervention, 87% demonstrated good knowledge. The mean knowledge score increased from 58.45 to 88.07. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p = 0.001). Audiovisual media is an effective educational tool for improving students’ knowledge regarding premarital sexual behavior.

Abstract

Hospitals are required to improve service quality, cost efficiency, patient safety, and user satisfaction in an increasingly complex healthcare environment. Traditional performance measurement systems that focus mainly on financial indicators are often insufficient to evaluate overall organizational performance. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) offers a comprehensive framework by integrating four perspectives: financial, customer, internal business processes, and learning and growth. This study aimed to review the implementation of BSC in hospitals and identify its benefits, outcomes, and challenges. A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were performed in PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and DOAJ using the keywords “balanced scorecard,” “hospital performance,” “healthcare management,” and “BSC in hospital.” Articles published between 2010 and 2025 in English or Indonesian were screened according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of 312 records identified, 14 studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the final analysis. The findings showed that BSC positively contributed to hospital performance across all four perspectives. Financial improvements included better cost control, budget management, and operational efficiency. From the customer perspective, hospitals reported higher patient satisfaction and service quality. Internal process improvements included reduced waiting times, enhanced clinical quality, and more efficient workflows. In the learning and growth perspective, BSC supported staff development, organizational culture, employee retention, and professional competence. However, implementation challenges remained, including limited data quality, resistance to change, inadequate information systems, and insufficient understanding of BSC concepts. In conclusion, BSC is a comprehensive and adaptable framework for hospital performance measurement that supports strategic management, continuous quality improvement, and organizational sustainability.
