Abstract

The maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia remains relatively high, with postpartum infection being one of the leading causes. The postpartum period is a critical phase during which physiological changes occur, increasing the risk of infection. However, the lack of adequate maternal health monitoring remains a challenge in the early detection of complications. This study aims to implement health technology-based monitoring using wearable sensors (HRV sensor/smartwatch) and axillary thermometers to detect changes in maternal body temperature and heart rate variability during the postpartum period. A total of 20 postpartum mothers, aged 2-14 days, from Pagesangan Subdistrict, were monitored for seven days. The results showed that the majority of participants (90%) were in good health; however, two participants (10%) experienced an increase in body temperature above 38°C and unstable HRV, which are early indicators of postpartum infection. These participants were immediately provided with additional health education and referred to healthcare professionals for further examination. Meanwhile, the remaining participants continued to receive routine monitoring and education regarding postpartum infection prevention. The implementation of this community service program demonstrated that health technology-based monitoring is effective in detecting real-time health condition changes, allowing for faster medical interventions and increasing maternal awareness of postpartum health. The findings suggest that this method can serve as an innovative approach to reducing postpartum infection risks and improving maternal health quality. Further development and wider application of this approach in other regions are recommended to enhance postpartum care and maternal well-being.

Abstract

Elderly is the final stage of the human life cycle, which at this stage experiences many changes both physically and mentally, especially decline in various functions and abilities that were once possessed. Health factors that play a role in changes in nutritional status include the increasing incidence of degenerative and non-degenerative diseases that result in changes in food intake, changes in the absorption of nutrients at the tissue level, and some cases can be caused by certain drugs that must be minimized by the elderly due to the disease they are suffering from. Fulfillment of good nutritional needs needs to be supported by knowledge of nutrition itself so that it can provide complete benefits for the elderly. After health counseling is carried out, it is hoped that it can improve the health degree and quality of elderly services as a process of early detection and health improvement. This activity will be carried out in August 2024. The implementation method is carried out by lectures and discussions. The media used are nutritional leaflets on the elderly, LCDs, laptops and projectors. The implementation of health counseling is carried out by bringing the elderly to the counseling site and providing a pre-test before being given health education and a post-test after being given health education. The result of this activity is an increase in the level of knowledge of 100% of the elderly about nutrition in the elderly. This activity concluded that under this activity it was carried out and produced changes in accordance with the output target, namely knowledge about nutritional fulfillment in the elderly. It is hoped that the counseling provided can be implemented and applied to daily life.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial period of social and emotional development that affects mental well-being. However, many adolescents experience emotional disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Based on WHO data (2021), around 2.8% of adolescents aged 15-19 years experience depression, with a higher incidence in girls. Various factors, such as academic pressure, hormonal changes, and social and family problems, are often the main triggers of depression in adolescent girls. If not handled properly, this condition can have a negative impact on development and quality of life. This community service method begins with Socialization, Pretest, Lecture plus Method, Demonstration and role play self-hypnosis method, and posttest on the 7th day on 75 adolescent girls at SMPN 3 Abiansemal. This community service shows that self-hypnosis contributes to reducing depression in adolescent girls. Research using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a decrease in depression levels after self-hypnosis therapy (p = 0.013). Although several studies support its effectiveness, more scientific evidence is needed to confirm its clinical benefits. However, self-hypnosis has the potential to be an alternative strategy that can help young women cope with depression and improve mental health.

Abstract

According to data from the International Labor Organization (ILO), it is estimated that there are around 340 million work accidents and 160 million cases of occupational diseases (PAK) each year worldwide. This condition shows the importance of implementing occupational safety and health (K3) in every workplace, including in office environments and construction projects. This community service activity is new because it focuses on the socialization of K3 in the construction project environment as a form of preventive effort against work accidents and work-related diseases. The socialization was carried out at the Kinara Dormitory Development Project on July 20-25, 2024. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of project workers regarding the importance of K3 and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), so that they can work more safely and avoid the risk of accidents and PAK. This activity was attended by five workers and was carried out in small groups. The method used was lectures and questions and answers with the help of flipcharts and leaflets. Based on the results of observations, the average worker works for 10 hours per day, six days a week, with a break time of one hour. However, it is known that workers have not used PPE in carrying out their duties. Through this activity, there was an 85% increase in worker knowledge regarding K3 and the use of PPE. Thus, the implementation of K3 is very necessary to create a healthy, safe, and comfortable work environment, as well as to maintain worker productivity. Socialization of occupational safety and health (K3) has been proven to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases (PAK) in the Kinara Dormitory Development Project.

Abstract

The community service program in Derangga Village, Pembuang Hulu District, Seruyan Regency, aims to improve the knowledge of adolescents of SMP Satap 4 Hanau about free association. In some cases, free association among adolescents in this village is starting to be worrying. The main factors that encourage free association are the lack of supervision from parents and the low level of education related to the negative impacts of this behavior. Through counseling on free association, adolescents are given an understanding of the anatomy and function of the reproductive organs, biological changes in adolescents, reproductive health problems in adolescents, free association, factors causing free sex and the consequences of free sex. The evaluation showed a significant increase in adolescent knowledge: before the counseling, only 30% of participants had good knowledge, while after the counseling, 78% of participants had good knowledge. This activity is expected to reduce the risk of health risks associated with free association, including transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and unwanted pregnancies. This program needs to be continued with more detailed sessions and additional material support so that the knowledge gained is more in-depth and can be applied in everyday life.
