Abstract

This study is motivated by the current need for research on pesantren management using the Balanced Scorecard approach, which is essential to identify areas that require improvement in order to increase public interest. Innovative institutions have the opportunity to adopt the Balanced Scorecard as a strategic management system for managing long-term strategies. The research employs a qualitative method and was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Anharul Ulum Soko Plumpungrejo Kademangan Blitar and Pondok Pesantren Bustanul Mutaallimat Dawuhan Kauman Kepanjen Kidul in Blitar City. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques involve data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings reveal that target setting to build public interest is carried out through several measures. First, institutional development involves transforming pesantren from a salafi model into an integrated institution equipped with formal education facilities. This transformation includes requiring students to reside on-site and implementing strict selection processes to maintain the quality of the pesantren. Additionally, programs and curricula are designed to align with community needs by considering feedback from prospective students' parents, many of whom desire a combination of formal education, pesantren learning, and Quran memorization. Furthermore, the performance of pesantren in building public interest is measured through four perspectives: financial perspective, customer satisfaction perspective, internal business process perspective, and growth and learning perspective.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the discovery learning model to enhance the learning independence of Grade V students in the IPAS subject at MIS Nurul Yaqin. The problem arises from limited learning facilities, which reduce opportunities for activities that stimulate creativity, as well as students’ limited ability to recognize and describe shapes and colors in detail. This Classroom Action Research applied the Kemmis and McTaggart model with Grade V students as the research subjects. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively in both quantitative and qualitative forms. The results show that Discovery Learning effectively improved students’ independence in learning. Through its exploratory approach, students actively engaged in questioning, observing, experimenting, and drawing conclusions in meaningful activities. Improvements were noted in self-confidence, task discipline, initiative in managing learning, motivation to understand material, and responsibility for outcomes. Active participation at each stage—from problem formulation to reflection—enhanced mastery of the properties of light and their applications, while also fostering critical, creative, and responsible learning behavior. Furthermore, the study found that the implementation of Discovery Learning encouraged collaborative interaction among students, allowing them to share ideas, test hypotheses, and provide peer feedback. This created a more student-centered learning atmosphere, shifting the focus from teacher instruction to student exploration. Quantitative results showed that student independence increased significantly, with success rates rising from 47.80% in Cycle I, when learning was still teacher-centered, to 84.76% in Cycle II, as students became more actively engaged both physically and mentally. These findings highlight the importance of using student-centered approaches such as Discovery Learning to develop independence, critical thinking, and motivation. The model not only supported better academic outcomes but also prepared students with essential lifelong learning skills that can be applied across subjects and in real-life problem solving.

Abstract

This study examines character and competency development through a philosophical approach. This philosophical approach plays a crucial role in developing students' character and competency, ensuring that education is not solely oriented toward knowledge but also toward the formation of morals and a holistic personality. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, examining the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions within the context of character education. The results indicate that a philosophical approach provides a profound understanding of the nature of humans as moral and rational beings capable of internalizing good values through reflection. This approach also encourages students to think critically, be responsible, and demonstrate integrity in all their actions. Furthermore, spiritual and social aspects are strengthened through the development of empathy, wisdom, and ethical awareness in interactions with the environment. The application of a philosophical approach makes the educational process more meaningful because it touches on the realms of knowledge, morals, and spirituality in a balanced manner. Thus, philosophy-based education can create individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent but also possess strong character, a reflective spirit, and are able to make a positive contribution to society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by e-LKPD on students’ problem-solving abilities and self-confidence in vocational high schools. Specifically, the objectives are: (1) to examine the simultaneous effect of the PBL model assisted by e-LKPD on both variables, (2) to determine its effect on problem-solving ability, and (3) to evaluate its effect on self-confidence. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was applied. The population consisted of all 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Tarakan, while the sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in class X Marketing 1 (35 students) as the experimental group and class X Culinary 2 (34 students) as the control group. Research instruments included a problem-solving test and a self-confidence questionnaire. Hypothesis testing utilized Hotelling’s T² and independent sample t-tests. The findings showed that 97% of students in the experimental class met the Learning Objectives Mastery (KKTP), compared to only 18% in the control group. Improvement in the experimental group was categorized as high, whereas in the control group it was moderate. Self-confidence also increased significantly in the experimental group, with most students moving from low to high categories. Hotelling’s Trace (Fcount = 77.109, p < 0.001) and t-tests confirmed significant effects on both problem-solving (tcount = 11.657) and self-confidence (tcount = 8.140), proving that the PBL model assisted by e-LKPD effectively enhances students’ abilities and confidence.

Abstract

This research primary objective is to describe the evaluation of Physical Education learning programs in inclusive elementary schools located in Purworejo Regency. The focus is on: (1) analyzing the preparation process for Physical Education learning in inclusive elementary schools, (2) analyzing the implementation process for Physical Education (PE) learning activities in inclusive elementary schools, and (3) analyzing the assessment methods for Physical Education learning in inclusive elementary schools. This research employed an evaluation research method with a Concurrent Embedded (unbalanced mixed) design. The data were analyzed by using the Countenance Stake Model. This model emphasizes two types of operations: description and judgment, distinguished three phases in the evaluation of Physical Education learning in inclusive elementary schools: (1) the antecedent stage, (2) the transaction stage, and (3) the outcomes stage. The research subjects were school supervisors, principals, Physical Education teachers, and parents of students. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative analysis techniques. The research findings indicate: (1) the preliminary stage (antecedent), the description of PE learning, is in the good category, because the learning objectives have been adjusted to the conditions of the students, teachers have the qualifications to be able to develop semester programs, syllabi, and lesson plans, the condition of supporting infrastructure, teachers' comprehension on learning strategies and mastery of PE learning materials; (2) the process stage (transaction), the description of PE learning, is in the good category because the implementation of PE learning is in accordance with the curriculum, using integrative thematic learning with a scientific approach and the implementation of authentic assessment; (3) the results stage (outcomes), the measurement of the results of assessments conducted by teachers covering aspects of attitude, knowledge, and skills in PE learning, is in the good category but has not been carried out comprehensively to assess input, process, and output/results.
