Abstract

This research aims to analyze the performance of West Java swimming athletes in the 100-meter breaststroke event. This analysis is crucial given the importance of race analysis in competitive swimming and the limited specific studies on the breaststroke at the regional level. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, performance data from eight athletes (four male and four female) from the West Java Swimming Series 2025 were analyzed. The parameters measured included stroke count, stroke rate, stroke length, time per 10-meter segment, total race time, and speed per segment. The results indicate that DE (male) and AL (female) were the fastest overall swimmers. AL, in particular, demonstrated highly competitive performance, even outperforming several male swimmers. Analysis of split times revealed a progressive deceleration pattern from segment 1 to segment 4 in most athletes due to fatigue. However, DE and AL consistently maintained their speed in the final segments. In terms of stroke count, there was a tendency for an increase from SC 1 to SC 4, while the highest stroke rate was observed in SR 4. For stroke length, SL 1 had the highest average, and Velocity 1 recorded the highest average among the speed segments. Standard deviations indicated better performance consistency among male swimmers compared to female swimmers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of basic pencak silat techniques specifically straight punches, T-kicks, crescent kicks, and straight kicks among athletes of the PAMUR Banyuwangi Srono Branch. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey method, data were collected through a standardized skills test involving 22 active athletes. The assessment used the “Pencak Silat Skills Test for Students at faculty of sports science Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta” to measure technical execution within 20 seconds per movement. Results showed an average total score of 83.36, with a standard deviation of 10.47, indicating varied technical abilities among athletes. The classification revealed 36.4% of athletes were in the “good” category, 27.3% in both the “sufficient” and “lacking” categories, and 9.1% in the “very lacking” category. No athletes reached the “very good” category. These findings highlight that while most athletes perform at a moderate to good level, there is a clear need for structured coaching, regular evaluation, and individualized training programs. Coaches are advised to provide consistent feedback and develop techniques tailored to athletes’ capabilities to improve overall performance and mastery of basic pencak silat skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify perceived barriers and evaluate 24-hour physical activity behavior in middle and high school students. The phenomenon of declining participation in physical activity among adolescents is a concern, considering its impact on physical and mental health. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive design, involving 100 students in Subang Regency as the research sample. The instruments used included a physical activity barriers questionnaire and a 24-hour movement behavior questionnaire. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a significant relationship between barriers and low involvement in physical activity, with a value of r = 0.325 and a significance of p = 0.001. The most common barriers found were lack of sports facilities, academic pressure, and minimal social support. This study confirms that although students are aware of the importance of physical activity, external and internal barriers remain a barrier. Therefore, interventions should include providing a supportive environment both at school and at home. Understanding 24-hour movement behavior patterns is also needed to design an integrated healthy living strategy. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for policy making in increasing adolescent physical activity in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain data as a basis for evaluating and improving smash technique training of male athletes at the BVC Club in Balangan District to serve as a reference in designing a more focused and athlete-needs-based training program. The method used is quantitative method with total sampling technique on 12 male athletes. The data collection instrument consists of a smash skill test based on the reference by Tantri & Mashud (2023). The results of the study indicate that 41.66% of athletes (5 individuals) are in the very good category, 16.67% (2 individuals) in the good category, 16.67% (2 individuals) in the medium category, and 25% (3 individuals) in the poor category, with no athletes in the very poor category. These findings suggest that some athletes have mastered smash technique well, but there are still a significant number of athletes who require special attention in mastering the technique, particularly in terms of power, attack angle, and shot accuracy. This study recommends the need for regular evaluations and the development of more structured and individually tailored technical training programs to improve overall smash performance.

Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the relationship between the release angle and the success rate of shooting in the free throw technique in basketball. The study was conducted on members of the Mitra Satu Basketball club using a quantitative descriptive approach. A total of 10 players performed 10 free throw attempts, resulting in a total of 100 shooting data that were analyzed using Kinovea software to measure the release angle, and the chi-square test to determine the relationship between the angle and the success rate of the shot. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the range of the release angle and the success rate of shooting (p = 0.009). The angle range of 40–49 degrees produced the highest success rate, which was 48.4%, compared to other angle ranges. This study confirms that the release angle plays an important role in determining shooting accuracy, and certain angles can provide biomechanical advantages for players. Thus, coaches and athletes are advised to focus shooting training on achieving optimal angles and utilizing movement analysis to improve technique consistency. This study also opens up opportunities for further research involving a larger sample size and additional variables, such as throwing distance, which was not examined in this study but could significantly contribute to a deeper understanding of shooting performance in basketball.
