The population consisted of 1,478 young adults aged 18–40 years in Seberang Palinggam, and 100 participants were selected using probability sampling techniques. Data were collected using a questionnaire and processed through editing, coding, entry, cleaning, and tabulating. Analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test (95% CI). Results: Statistical test results showed that most young adults engaged in heavy smoking behavior (52 respondents, 52.0%) and had poor sleep patterns (65 respondents, 65.0%). Based on bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test, the p-value was 0.027 (P < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between smoking behavior and sleep patterns in young adults (18–40 years) in the Seberang Palinggam subdistrict. Conclusion: The study shows a significant relationship between smoking behavior and sleep patterns. Most young adult heavy smokers have poor sleep. Educational efforts and interventions are needed to reduce smoking habits and improve their sleep quality.

Abstract

Background: Ischemic stroke is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, with hemiparesis being the most common clinical manifestation after stroke. Hemiparesis may reduce muscle strength and increase the risk of complications such as joint contractures Methods: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of mirror therapy in improving upper extremity muscle strength in a 45-year-old male patient with ischemic stroke and left-sided hemiparesis. A case study design was used, with the intervention carried out over five consecutive days. The therapy consisted of adaptation exercises, basic movements, variations, and combination exercises, each repeated eight times. Results: The evaluation showed an improvement in upper extremity muscle strength from a score of 5555 | 4432 to 5555 | 4443. Additionally, there were no observed decreases in physical tolerance or therapy-related injuries. Conclusion: These findings suggest that mirror therapy is an effective, safe, and feasible rehabilitation intervention that can be implemented by nursing professionals in clinical settings for stroke patients with hemiparesis.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health problem in tropical regions, including Indonesia, due to high morbidity rates and environmental factors that support mosquito breeding. This study aimed to determine the influence of nurses and teachers in health education on changes in dengue prevention behavior in schools. Changes in knowledge and behavior were assessed before and after the intervention. The intervention involved health education on dengue prevention, focusing on the 3M Plus method: draining, covering, recycling, and using larvicide. Results: The results showed a significant increase in the proportion of respondents with good preventive behavior, rising from 15.6% in the pretest to 91.1% in the posttest (p-value = 0.000). This indicates that health education significantly improves public knowledge and encourages positive behavioral changes in dengue prevention. Conclusion: Health education significantly improves dengue prevention behavior, raising good practices from 15.6% to 91.1%. Sustained community involvement and policy support are crucial for lasting impact.
