Abstract

Background: Many women experience difficulty in choosing a contraceptive method. This is not only due to the limited options available. One of the advantages of implants is that they are suitable for women who cannot use estrogen-containing drugs, cause lighter bleeding, do not raise blood pressure, and have a lower risk of ectopic pregnancy compared to intrauterine contraceptive devices. Despite its high effectiveness—implant contraception has a failure rate of only 0.2–1 pregnancies per 100 women—it seems to be less favored by the public, particularly among couples of reproductive age. Various factors influence a person's decision in choosing a contraceptive method. These include individual factors such as age, parity, education, and knowledge. Objective: To identify the factors that influence the interest in the implant contraceptive method in the service area of Puskesmas Sungai Tabuk 1. Method: This research used a non-experimental descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The study sample consisted of 87 family planning (KB) acceptors in the Puskesmas Sungai Tabuk 1 area. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test with a questionnaire as the research instrument. Results: The results showed that 62.1% of the respondents were of a certain age group, 40.2% had low knowledge, 59.8% of respondents with certain parity levels were not interested in implants, and 60.9% had a certain level of education. Statistical tests indicated significant relationships between age (ρ = 0.000), knowledge (ρ = 0.000), parity (ρ = 0.000), and education (ρ = 0.000) with interest in implant contraception. Abstract

Background: The success of the family planning program in Indonesia is closely tied to the quality of counseling provided. Therefore, healthcare counselors must understand a client's medical condition and specific characteristics before contraceptive use. Healthcare providers have not yet utilized the KLOP Wheel as an aid in providing services before contraceptive use. The KLOP Wheel is important as it can reduce medical barriers and improve access to and quality of family planning services. This is especially relevant for clients with medical conditions or special characteristics, where certain contraceptive methods may worsen medical issues, pose additional health risks, or reduce contraceptive effectiveness. Objective: To determine the factors influencing the use of the KLOP Wheel as a medical eligibility screening tool by healthcare workers in the working area of Puskesmas Lepasan. Method: This research is a quantitative study using a descriptive method. The population consisted of 30 midwives working in the Puskesmas Lepasan area, selected using total sampling. Data analysis used the chi-square test with a questionnaire as the instrument. Results: The study found significant relationships between education level (ρ = 0.000), year of graduation (ρ = 0.000), length of work experience (ρ = 0.000), and knowledge (ρ = 0.000) with the use of the KLOP Wheel by healthcare workers. Conclusion: The ability and accuracy of healthcare providers in screening for medical eligibility criteria are expected to improve the quality of contraceptive services. However, the use of the KLOP Wheel has not yet been maximized. Its implementation also depends on the support and coordination efforts of the Ministry of Health and the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) to advance the family planning program. Abstract

Background: Interest is a feeling of liking or attraction toward something or an activity without coercion. Interest essentially involves acceptance of a relationship between oneself and something outside oneself; the stronger this relationship, the greater the interest. Interest is considered a positive trait, as it begins with a sense of attraction to a particular stimulus. Moreover, interest is regarded as more active than passive, as it can motivate individuals to move toward what they are interested in. Objective: To determine the factors influencing interest in the use of implant contraceptive methods in the Tanjung Pagar Health Center area. Method: This research used a non-experimental, descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 60 contraceptive acceptors at Tanjung Pagar Public Health Center. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. Results: The study found that out of 60 contraceptive acceptors at Tanjung Pagar Health Center, the majority—38 individuals (63.3%)—showed interest in implant contraceptive methods, while 15 individuals (25%) were not interested. Conclusion: Interest can influence individuals to take action. It begins with the knowledge they possess, which then drives their interest to pursue something they desire. Therefore, interest can influence individuals to attend family planning visits. Keywords: Acceptors, Follow-up Visits, Interest

Abstract

Background: Indonesia has a policy to control population growth, including through the Family Planning (KB) program. Family planning is an effort made by humans to deliberately regulate pregnancy in the family without going against the laws and morals of Pancasila for the welfare of the family. Through the family planning program, population growth will be controlled so that it can increase the level of health and welfare for families.Quality family planning services are not only related to services in marketing contraceptives, but are also related to providing interpersonal communication/counseling (KIP/K) to acceptors. The importance of the quality of counseling on contraceptive issues by every health worker, especially midwives and doctors, must be increased. Objective: to determine the effect of counseling on the choice of contraceptives in the Pemurus Dalam Health Center working area. Method: This research design uses analytical research with a cross sectional approach. The sample for this research was 30 WUS at Pemurus Dalam Community Health Center. The sampling technique is incidental sampling. Data analysis used chi-square with a questionnaire instrument. Results: The results of data analysis show that there is an influence of providing family planning counseling using ABPK on decision making to use contraception (p=0.000) Conclusion: There is an influence of providing family planning counseling on decision making to use contraception (p=0.000) Keywords: Acceptor, Counseling, Contraception

Abstract

Background: Prenatal gentle yoga is believed to help reduce the duration of active phase I labor in primigravida mothers, which is often a risk factor for complications such as bleeding, fatigue, and medical interventions such as cesarean section. The duration of labor not only increases the risk of complications for the mother, but also affects the baby's condition. Therefore, non-invasive interventions are needed that can speed up the natural labor process. Prenatal gentle yoga was introduced as a method that helps facilitate labor through breathing techniques, postures, and relaxation that are suitable for pregnant women. Methods:This study used a quasi-experimental design with two groups, namely the intervention group who attended prenatal gentle yoga classes and the control group who did not. A total of 30 primigravida pregnant women participated, consisting of 15 people in the intervention group and 15 in the control group. The duration of active phase I labor was observed and analyzed using statistical tests to see significant differences between the two groups. Result: The results showed that the group that participated in prenatal gentle yoga had an average labor duration of 5 hours, while the control group had 7 hours. Statistical analysis with the Mann-Whitney test resulted in a p-value <0.05, indicating a significant effect of prenatal gentle yoga on accelerating labor. Conclusion: Prenatal gentle yoga is an effective intervention to accelerate active phase I labor in primigravida mothers, making a significant contribution to midwifery practice. Prenatal yoga can be used to reduce the risk of complications due to prolonged labor and improve the quality of maternal and infant health care, and accelerate postpartum recovery. Keywords:: Prenatal gentle yoga, labor, stage I, active phase, primigravida mothers.

Abstract

Background: Fever which often occurs due to the effects of post-immunization side effects (AEFI) is a disorder that often occurs in infants and toddlers. Fever can have negative impacts that can harm the baby, such as dehydration, lack of oxygen, neurological damage and febrile convulsions. in South Kalimantan, based on the KIPI Regional Committee (Komda) report, in 2020 KIPI DPT-HB accounted for 74% of cases, in 2021 there were 71% of cases and in the January-July 2022 period there were 67% of cases. AEFI cases that occur include fever (38%). One of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce temperature is red onions (Allium cepa variety ascalonicum). Objective: To determine the decrease in body temperature during secondary events after Pentabio immunization (AEFI) with shallot compress at PMB HJ.F Kotabaru. Method: The research method used is a quantitative descriptive study. The population in this study were babies and 30 people underwent pentabio immunization in November 2022 at PMB Hj. F. The sample used an accidental sampling technique, namely 12 babies who had been given pentabio immunization in January 2023 at PMB Hj. F Kotabaru. Data were collected using observation sheets which were analyzed in the form of a frequency distribution. Results: The results of the study showed that of the 12 respondents, 10 babies (83.3%) experienced a fever after pentabio immunization, their fever decreased after being given a red onion compress. Conclusion: Onion compress is proven to have properties that can reduce the baby's body temperature due to AEFI pentabio. This is an alternative that can be done to reduce fever after pentabio immunization without using chemical-based drugs Keywords: Infant Body Temperature, Red Onion, AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunization)

Abstract

Background: One of the side effects of vaccination is pain from needle injections, with intramuscular injections in infants being more painful than injections in other areas. Pain responses due to vaccination can cause trauma in children, where events that result in fear, anger, or pain are common traumatic experiences. The side effects of immunization are referred to as AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunization), such as fever, swelling at the injection site, redness, pain at the injection site, and fatigue. At Pekauman Community Health Center (Puskesmas Pekauman) in Banjarmasin, based on interviews with midwives providing immunization services, none have offered non-pharmacological therapies such as warm compresses to manage injection-related pain and swelling. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of warm compress therapy on the pain response following Pentabio immunization in the working area of Puskesmas Pekauman. Method: The research method used was a quasi-experimental one-group design without a control group, analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The instrument used was the FLACC pain scale questionnaire, measured before and after the warm compress was applied to infants following Pentabio immunization. The study sample consisted of 15 infants, selected using simple random sampling. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05). Conclusion: Warm compress therapy is proven to be effective in reducing the pain response following Pentabio immunization in the working area of Puskesmas Pekauman. Abstract

Background: The Indonesian Government's policy regarding the above is in the form of Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 97 of 2014. This Regulation explains that pre-pregnancy health services are activities of women before pregnancy to prepare for a healthy, safe pregnancy and childbirth and to obtain a healthy baby. To ensure maternal health during pregnancy, promotive and preventive measures must be carried out from adolescence and before marriage. The targets of this activity are adolescents, prospective brides and grooms (catin) and/or couples of childbearing age. Specifically for female catin, one form of activity is pre- marital preparation in the form of nutritional preparation with an anemia status examination to determine their HB levels. Objective: To find out how Anemia Screening is Implemented in Female Catin at the Tapin Utara Health Center in 2021 Method: The research method used is quantitative descriptive observational which was carried out at the Tapin Utara Health Center with a population of 130 people and a total sampling technique was used. The data source used is secondary through the 2021 catin cohort register records. The analysis used is univariate. Results: The results of the study showed that 23 people (17.7%) had anemia and 107 people (82.3%) were not anemic. Conclusion: Catin without anemia are healthy catin who are ready to enter the reproductive process of pregnancy and childbirth. Keywords: Anemia, Catin, Screening

Abstract

Background:The impact on infants who do not receive breast milk (ASI) includes jaundice due to insufficient intake, non-ideal body weight, dental caries, and increased vulnerability to infections and diarrhea. Successful breastfeeding must be supported by effective breastfeeding practices. Healthcare facilities need trained breastfeeding counselors who are competent in helping mothers breastfeed exclusively for six months. Midwives, as counselors, must be able to guide pregnant women, especially first-time mothers, regarding breastfeeding. Objective:To determine the effect of breastfeeding counseling on the incidence of nipple soreness in postpartum mothers. Method:This is a quantitative study using a case-control design, with breastfeeding counseling as the independent variable and nipple soreness as the dependent variable. The sample consisted of postpartum mothers from 7 to 14 days postpartum, totaling 40 participants with a 1:1 ratio between the control and comparison groups. Data were analyzed using univariate (frequency distribution) and bivariate (Chi-square) analysis. Results:There were 20 respondents in the control group and 20 in the intervention group. Of the 40 respondents, 14 (35%) experienced nipple soreness. Conclusion:There is an effect of breastfeeding counseling methods on the incidence of nipple soreness in postpartum mothers. Abstract

Background:Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. One of the most common cancers among women is cervical cancer. The low level of public knowledge about cervical cancer and its prevention methods is one of the main reasons for the low coverage of cervical cancer screening. Women's reluctance to undergo screening is often due to fear of the results, fear of pain during the examination, and feelings of embarrassment. Objective:The objective of this literature review is to gather and summarize literature related to the effectiveness of health education in improving women's knowledge and behavior regarding cervical cancer screening. Method:This study used electronic bibliographic databases, with systematic searches conducted in PubMed and ScienceDirect from 2009 to 2019. High-quality articles were selected based on inclusion criteria, resulting in 11 articles reviewed out of an initial 843. Results:The review identified two main themes: the effectiveness of health education using the Health Belief Model (HBM) concept, and the effectiveness of tools and media on women's behavior regarding cervical cancer screening. The findings indicate that health education significantly influences the improvement of knowledge, perception, attitudes, and behavior of women in undergoing cervical cancer screening.
