Abstract

Background: Stunting is a nutritional problem for toddlers with a picture of growth failure that accumulates before and after birth, which is caused by inadequate nutritional intake. In 2022, the prevalence of stunting in South Kalimantan was 24.6%. Tanah Laut Regency is in 6th place at 26.6%. At the Takisung Community Health Center in July 2024, there were 22 stunted toddlers consisting of 11 stunted toddlers and 11 very stunted toddlers. Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the factors correlated to the incidence of stunting in Gunung Makmur Village, Tanah Laut Regency. Method: This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. 24. The population in this study was 10 people. The number of samples was 10 people with a total sampling technique. The instrument uses a questionnaire. Data analysis used the chi-square test. Results: From the research results, it was found that there was a correlation between exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.005), dietary habit (p=0.000) and rest patterns (p=0.001) with the incidence of stunting in Gunung Makmur Village 2024. However, there was no correlation between immunization (p=0.751) and the incidence of stunting in Gunung Makmur Village 2024. Conclusion: There was a correlation between exclusive breastfeeding, dietary habit and rest patterns and the incidence of stunting in Gunung Makmur Village. Makmur 2024. On the other hand, there is no correlation between immunization and the incidence of stunting in Gunung Makmur Village in 2024. Abstract

Background: According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2023, 37% of pregnant women aged 15–49 are affected by anemia. The incidence of anemia among pregnant women in Bengkulu Province remains notably high, with a total of 1,824 individuals affected. A key preventive measure against anemia in pregnant women is the consumption of iron tablets. Objective:. The objective of this study is to identify the factors influencing pregnant women's adherence to the consumption of iron tablets throughout their pregnancy Methods: This research employs a cross-sectional design, encompassing the entire population of pregnant women in their second and third trimesters within the jurisdiction of the Kuala Lempuing Health Center in Bengkulu City from January to May, involving 54 pregnant participants. Subjects were selected via total sampling, and data were collected using a questionnaire, followed by analyses conducted in univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square), and multivariate formats. Result:  The bivariate analysis revealed a p-value of less than 0.05 for all variables, indicating a significant relationship between ANC visits, support from healthcare providers, and spousal support in relation to pregnant women’s adherence to iron tablet consumption. Furthermore, the multivariate analysis identified ANC visits as the most dominant influencing factor, with an Exp(B) value of 10.522 Conclusion: The importance of effective counseling concerning the consumption of iron tablets is underscored, focusing on the optimal timing and method for intake, potential side effects, and enhancing the monitoring of iron tablet consumption adherence through the Blood Supplement Tablet (BST) control card for pregnant women documented in the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) book Keywords: Anemia, ANC, Iron Tablets, Healthcare Provider Support, Spousal Support, Adherence.

Abstract

Background:  Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020 estimated that there were 13.4 million premature babies, in 2021 Indonesia was ranked 5th with the highest number of premature births, which was around 657,700, more than 1 in 10 babies. The increase in premature births continues to occur until 2022, which is around 15 million premature babies. Meanwhile, Cendrawasih Dobo Hospital (Maluku) in the Perinatology Room in 2022 recorded 5 premature babies, in 2023 there were 10 babies and in 2024 from January to August as many as 15 premature babies were born. Objective:. The aim of this research is to find out the causes of premature births. Methods: This qualitative study employed a phenomenological design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 10 participants, consisting of both primary and key informants. The data collection methods included semi-structured interviews, audio recordings, documentation, and field notes. Result: There are several causes of premature births that occurred in informants, namely the mother's age being too young, less than 20 years old when experiencing pregnancy, trauma during pregnancy (falling), multiple pregnancies, hypertension during pregnancy and work that is too heavy. Abstract

Background: Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) is the practice of providing breast milk within the first hour after birth. It is proven to reduce neonatal mortality and improve infant nutritional status. However, the implementation of EIBF has not been fully adopted by healthcare workers, including midwives. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between midwives’ level of knowledge and attitudes with the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding at Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes General Hospital in Kupang. Methods: This was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 21 midwives selected using total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess knowledge and attitudes, and observations using a checklist to evaluate EIBF implementation. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Most midwives had good knowledge (90.5%) and positive attitudes (57%) regarding EIBF. However, only 33% of respondents implemented EIBF. The statistical test showed no significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.533) or attitude (p = 0.642) and the implementation of EIBF. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between midwives’ knowledge and attitudes and the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding. Continuous training and capacity-building programs are recommended to support midwives in implementing EIBF according to established guidelines.
