Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one of the global targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to reduce MMR to 300 per 100,000 live births by 2030. The coverage of antenatal care (ANC) visits in Central Kalimantan Province from 2016 to 2020 has shown a decline. In 2019, the K4 coverage was 84.5%, decreasing to 81.64% in 2020, and slightly increasing to 88.1% in 2021. Meanwhile, the K6 service coverage in 2021 was 63% nationally and 63.4% in Central Kalimantan Province. The importance of ANC visits has not yet become a top priority for many pregnant women in Indonesia. Objective: To analyze the achievement of ANC visits among pregnant women in the working area of the Telaga Pulang Health Center (UPTD Puskesmas Telaga Pulang). Method: This study used a quantitative analytical correlational research method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 233 individuals. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, with a total sample of 45 people. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate tests. Results: Based on the univariate analysis, out of 45 pregnant women, 24 (53.3%) lived more than 15 km from the health service, 26 (57.8%) accessed health services via river routes, 32 (71.1%) did not receive support from their husbands, 40 (88.9%) received support from health workers, and 32 (71.1%) did not achieve the expected number of ANC visits. Objective:. Food restrictions for breastfeeding mothers are not allowed to eat toman fish and karawila vegetables (oyong). This study aims to understand the practice of food restrictions among breastfeeding mothers in Hambuku Baru Village, Babirik District, North Hulu Sungai Regency. Methods: The method used is qualitative research, data collection through in-depth interviews and observations with purposive sampling of five breastfeeding mothers who practice the culture of food restrictions. Result: The results showed that the prohibition of toman fish and karawila vegetables (oyong) is based on hereditary traditions aimed at maintaining the health of mother and child. so this practice has a negative impact on the nutritional fulfillment of breastfeeding mothers, breast milk quality, and child's weight development. Abstract

Background: Traditional massage services are widely used by parents in Indonesia for minor health problems in children such as colds and fatigue. Influenced by cultural beliefs, this practice remains important despite modern medical advances. Riskesdas 2018 reported that 54.1% of South Kalimantan's population uses traditional health services, with 83.3% choosing massage therapy. This study explores the perception and experience of parents in using masseur services as an alternative treatment method. Objective:. To understand the motivations, benefits, and challenges that parents face in choosing massage services Methods: A qualitative approach with semi-structured in-depth interviews with five participants selected through purposive sampling. The data is analyzed thematically to identify key themes. Result: The findings revealed three main themes: (1) motivation for using massage services, which is based on cultural beliefs and previous positive experiences; (2) a comparison between massage services and modern medical services, which emphasizes accessibility, cost efficiency, and convenience; and (3) expectations for the development of professional and standardized massage services. Conclusion: Despite its limitations, traditional massage services have an important role to play in meeting the health needs of Indonesian families due to their affordability and accessibility. However, training and certification are required to improve the security and professionalism of these services. Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Low Birth Weight (LBW) as a birth weight of less than 2500 grams, regardless of gestational age. Data from newborns at Bhayangkara Hospital Banjarmasin between 2020 and 2023 show an annual increase in LBW cases, rising from 6.4% in 2020 to 13.7% in 2023. Massage therapy offers the advantage of being cost-effective. Moreover, complementary therapies are not only economical but also free from serious side effects, drug reactions, and are easy to administer and well-accepted by patients. Objective: To evaluate the effect of infant massage on weight gain in Low Birth Weight (LBW) infants in the infant ward of Bhayangkara Hospital Banjarmasin. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design, which is a basic unit of experimental research and does not utilise randomised control or comparison groups. The sample consisted of 15 infants. A one-group pretest-posttest design with paired T-test analysis was implemented. Results: The study found a significant difference in infant weight before and after seven consecutive days of massage. Among the 15 infant samples, the average weight increased from 2390 grams to 2553 grams. The paired T-test results between the pretest and posttest groups revealed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant increase in weight after infant massage. Conclusion: Infant massage has a significant effect on increasing weight in LBW infants. Keywords: LBW, Weight Gain, Infant Massage

Abstract

Background: Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the leading contributor to maternal mortality worldwide, accounting for 50–75% of all emergency cases that occur during childbirth. Objective: Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the leading contributor to maternal mortality worldwide, accounting for 50–75% of all emergency cases that occur during childbirth. Method: This study used a quantitative research method with a case-control study design. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with a total of 68 samples. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test. Results: The results showed that the majority of primiparous mothers did not experience hemorrhage, with 60 individuals (88.2%). Most mothers with a birth interval of more than 5 years did not experience hemorrhage, totaling 60 individuals (88.2%). Additionally, most non-anemic mothers did not experience hemorrhage, with 40 individuals (58.8%). At a 95% confidence level, the p-values were 0.002, 0.001, and 0.001, respectively. Therefore, there is a significant relationship between these three variables and the incidence of primary postpartum hemorrhage. Conclusion: Midwives are encouraged to frequently provide education to women of childbearing age (WCA) to manage birth spacing and to undergo regular antenatal care check-ups. Keywords: Postpartum hemorrhage, birth interval, parity, anemia, pregnant women
