Abstract

This study aims to formulate a strategy for the development of the seawater fisheries sector in Bengkulu City using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis approach. The city of Bengkulu has a huge marine potential with a wealth of fish resources with high economic value, such as tuna, snapper, grouper, and various other types of marine products. This potential should be optimally utilized to improve the welfare of coastal communities, open up export opportunities, and encourage regional economic growth. However, the utilization of this potential is still not optimal due to various obstacles, including limited port infrastructure, traditional fishing technology, inadequate cold chain facilities, and limited market access. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method by collecting primary data through in-depth interviews, group discussions, and direct observation in the Baai Island and PPI Pondok Besi areas. Secondary data were obtained from government reports, fisheries offices, and literature reviews related to marine sector management policies. The results of the study show that the main strength of this sector lies in the strategic geographical location of Bengkulu City, the potential for abundant natural resources, and the support of maritime culture of the local community. Existing opportunities include government policies that support the development of the fisheries sector, increasing export market demand, and the potential for the development of marine products-based downstream industries. The weaknesses found are the lack of training for fishermen, the limitations of modern equipment, and storage facilities for catches. The threats faced include climate change, extreme weather, and competition with other fish-producing areas. The development strategies formulated include SO, WO, ST, and WT strategies with the aim of optimizing strengths and opportunities, overcoming weaknesses, and minimizing threats.

Abstract

In an era of increasingly fierce business competition, companies are required to continuously improve the quality of human resources as a strategic asset. Superior human resources are one of the main keys in determining the success and competitiveness of a company. One important indicator in measuring the quality of human resources is employee performance. Optimal performance reflects the effectiveness and efficiency of task implementation as well as a real contribution to the achievement of organizational goals. This study aims to analyze the influence of work discipline and motivation on employee performance at PT. Atena Bangun Mandiri, a company engaged in the construction and procurement sector. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive and associative research design. The population in this study were all 56 employees of PT. Atena Bangun Mandiri, where the sampling technique was carried out using saturated sampling, because the entire population was sampled. Data were collected through closed questionnaires compiled based on research variable indicators, then processed and analyzed using SPSS statistical software. The results showed that work discipline has a partial significant influence on employee performance with a contribution of 20.7%. This means that the higher the level of employee discipline, the more their performance tends to increase. Meanwhile, work motivation also had a significant partial effect of 50.8%, indicating that motivation plays a dominant role in driving work enthusiasm and productivity. Simultaneously, work discipline and motivation significantly influenced employee performance. The implications of this study demonstrate the importance of managerial strategies to increase motivation through reward systems, opportunities for self-development, and creating a comfortable work environment. Furthermore, consistent implementation of work discipline must also be maintained to foster a professional and results-oriented work culture.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the level of effectiveness and the extent of the contribution of local taxes to the Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in cities and regencies within the North Sumatra (Sumut) region for the years 2023–2024. Regional Original Revenue refers to the income earned by a local government sourced from the potential within its own territory. Effectiveness is defined as the extent to which an organization successfully achieves its predetermined goals, while contribution refers to the proportion or percentage of PAD relative to the total regional revenue. The research employs a quantitative approach, using secondary data collected from publicly available financial reports. These data were obtained from the official website of the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance at https://djpk.kemenkeu.go.id/portal/data/apbd and further reviewed to generate a clear and systematic description. The research population includes all cities and regencies in the North Sumatra region, with the final sample consisting of 66 data points, derived from 33 regions over a 2-year period. A descriptive quantitative method was used to analyze the data. This approach, rooted in positivist philosophy, allows for systematic observation and evaluation of existing facts based on the selected research objects. The descriptive analysis focuses on measuring the effectiveness and contribution levels of local taxes in supporting PAD. The results of the study indicate that the effectiveness of local tax collection in North Sumatra is categorized as fairly effective, with an average effectiveness rate of 84%. Furthermore, the contribution of local taxes to PAD is also considered good, with an average contribution rate of 33%. These findings suggest that local taxes play a significant role in generating regional revenue and that efforts by regional governments in North Sumatra to manage tax collection have been reasonably successful. The results also highlight the need for continued improvement to optimize local tax revenue and strengthen regional fiscal independence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see how the role of influencers and social media marketing has an impact on the interest of Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi management students in buying Crocs sandals. This research falls into the associative quantitative category. This research involved 5,695 management students of Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi Medan batch 2023 and 2024 who are familiar with Crocs sandals. This study used purposive sampling technique and Slovin's formula to select 99 respondents aged 18-25 years from the Management Study Program of Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi. Primary data and secondary data were collected through literature studies and questionnaires with a Likert scale. Validity and reliability tests were conducted on all statement items; influencer role variables (X1), social media marketing (X2), and purchase intention variables (Y) were declared valid and reliable; multiple linear regression, partial test (T), simultaneous test (F), and coefficient of determination (R2). The classic assumption test of data is used in this study. Based on Multiple Linear Regression Analysis of influencer role variables (X1) and social media marketing (X2), there is a positive correlation to purchase intention (Y). Based on the partial test results (T test), the role of influencers (X1) has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention (Y), with a t value of 3.184 and a significance of 0.002 (smaller than 0.05). Social media marketing (X2) also has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention (Y), with a t value of 3.113 and a significance of 0.002 (smaller than 0.05). Based on the results of the simultaneous test (F test), the influencer role variable (X1) and social media marketing (X2) together have a significant influence on purchase intention (Y), with a calculated f value of 5.717 and a significance of 0.005 (smaller than 0.05). 62.0% of the variation in purchase intention (Y) is caused by the influencer role variable (X1) and social media marketing (X2). Other factors not discussed in this study affect 38.0% of the variation in purchase intention (Y).

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are an economic sector that plays a vital role in driving economic growth, job creation, and equitable distribution of income. MSMEs are generally managed by individuals or small groups with limited business scale and relatively small capital. In their operations, MSMEs often face obstacles, particularly in terms of access to capital, business management, and product development. This study aims to determine the extent of the role of the Jaya Maju Sejahtera Savings and Loans Cooperative in supporting MSME development in Way Kanan Regency, as well as to identify factors that support and hinder this process. The research findings reveal that KSP Jaya Maju Sejahtera provides multidimensional contributions: (1) Providing access to financing through a microcredit scheme with a ceiling of IDR 5-50 million and competitive interest rates (8-12% per year); (2) Routine business development programs such as financial administration and marketing management training; (3) Business networking among cooperative members. Between 2021 and 2023, the cooperative successfully disbursed loans worth IDR 3.2 billion to 125 MSMEs, with a repayment rate of 92%. The main supporting factors include: (1) High level of trust between cooperative members; (2) Flexibility of credit requirements; (3) Intensive mentoring by cooperative administrators. Meanwhile, obstacles include: (1) Financial literacy of 62% of MSMEs is still in the low category; (2) Dependence on technology in 85% of MSMEs; (3) Limited access to modern markets. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with cooperatives and MSMEs. The results of the study show that cooperatives have a large contribution in helping MSME financing through credit distribution which continues to increase. In addition, cooperatives also provide education and coaching to their members to increase business capacity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the extent of the influence of the provision of discount vouchers and the ease of use of the application on purchase decisions through the GrabFood service among students of the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, State University of Medan. In today's digital era, app-based food delivery services are increasingly in demand due to the ease of access, convenience, and various promotions offered. GrabFood as one of the leading online food service providers in Indonesia utilizes marketing strategies in the form of providing discount vouchers and improving user experience to attract consumer interest. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with purposive sampling techniques to determine samples that are relevant to the research objectives. The population in this study is GrabFood application users, with a total of 100 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and processed using SPSS software version 26 to analyze the relationship between independent and bound variables. The results of the analysis show that the discount voucher variable has a positive and significant impact on purchase decisions. Students tend to take advantage of discounts as the main consideration before ordering food. The same applies to the variable of ease of use of the application which also has a positive and significant effect. The user-friendly interface features of the GrabFood application, transaction speed, and practical payment system are important factors in attracting buyers. In addition, simultaneously these two variables have been proven to influence purchasing decisions positively and significantly. This research is expected to provide input for GrabFood management to continue to optimize promotions and application features to further increase consumer satisfaction and loyalty among students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and understand the extent to which Promosi Penjualan, Kualitas Layanan, and Pengalaman Pelanggan influence Consumer Loyalty among GoFood service users, particularly among students of the Entrepreneurship Study Program at Medan State University, intakes of 2021 to 2024. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with an associative research type. The research sample consisted of 120 respondents selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results of the study indicate that Promosi Penjualan has a positive and significant influence on Consumer Loyalty. Similarly, Kualitas Layanan and Pengalaman Pelanggan also have a positive and significant influence on Consumer Loyalty. Together, these three variables are proven to have a significant influence on increasing Consumer Loyalty to GoFood services.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of job training and teamwork on employee performance at PT Astra International Tbk, Radio Dalam Branch, South Jakarta. In today's increasingly competitive business environment, employee performance plays a crucial role in determining the success of a company. High employee performance reflects not only individual productivity but also the overall effectiveness of an organization in achieving both short-term and long-term goals. Job training serves as an essential factor in improving employee competencies, including technical skills, knowledge, and interpersonal abilities. Through well-designed and continuous training programs, employees are expected to perform their tasks more efficiently and professionally. On the other hand, effective teamwork fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment, which can enhance employee motivation and overall performance. This research uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 60 permanent employees of the company. The data collected were analyzed using statistical techniques to examine the relationships and effects between the studied variables. The results indicate that job training has a positive and significant influence on employee performance. This means that the better the training provided, the higher the level of employee performance achieved. Additionally, teamwork was also found to have a positive and significant impact on performance. Employees who work in cohesive and well-coordinated teams tend to show higher work enthusiasm and are more capable of completing tasks effectively. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that job training and teamwork are two essential factors that management should pay close attention to. Therefore, it is recommended that the company continue to develop relevant training programs and promote a strong culture of teamwork. By doing so, the company can enhance employee performance, which in turn will help the organization achieve its objectives more efficiently and sustainably.

Abstract

Impulse buying is a form of consumer behavior characterized by a sudden and strong emotional urge to purchase a product without any planning or logical consideration. People who make impulsive purchases tend to ignore the need, price, and long-term benefits of the product they purchase. This phenomenon is common among teenagers and students, who are psychologically still in the process of searching for their identity and are easily influenced by their social environment and the information they receive, especially through social media. Social media plays a crucial role in shaping modern consumer behavior. Platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook offer engaging visual content, intensive product promotions, and influencer marketing campaigns that can create an emotional urge to purchase. The speed of information access, interactivity, and personalized recommendations make social media one of the most effective and influential marketing channels, especially among the younger generation. On the other hand, a lack of economic literacy makes students more vulnerable to the temptation of impulsive buying due to their limited ability to manage personal finances and low awareness of the importance of financial planning. This study aims to examine the influence of social media and economic literacy on impulsive buying behavior in students. The method used was quantitative, with 187 respondents selected through a simple random sampling technique based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected using an online questionnaire via Google Form and analyzed using multiple linear regression using SPSS version 25. The results showed that social media had a positive and significant effect on students' impulsive buying behavior, while economic literacy had a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, these two variables also had a significant effect on impulsive buying behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of land area, global cocoa prices, and production volume on Indonesia's cocoa export volume. Cocoa is one of the leading plantation commodities that significantly contributes to the country's foreign exchange and plays an important role in the national economy. However, Indonesia's cocoa export volume has experienced considerable fluctuations over the years due to various internal and external factors, including climate change, international price dynamics, and domestic productivity levels. This research uses time series data spanning 30 years, from 1994 to 2023, obtained from official sources such as the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and international publications. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine the extent to which each independent variable influences the dependent variable, namely the volume of cocoa exports. The results of the analysis show that only the production volume variable has a statistically significant effect on Indonesia's cocoa export volume. Meanwhile, land area and global cocoa prices do not show a significant influence. These findings suggest that increasing cocoa export volume is more strongly determined by the amount of production available for the international market rather than by the expansion of land area or global price fluctuations. In other words, even if cocoa prices are high or land is expanded, exports will not necessarily increase without improvements in productivity and output. Therefore, strategies for developing Indonesia’s cocoa sector should prioritize enhancing farmer productivity, improving cultivation technology, and increasing efficiency in post-harvest and distribution systems. This study is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers in formulating effective strategies to support the growth of Indonesia’s cocoa exports and strengthen the competitiveness of the national cocoa industry in the global market. Future efforts should focus on sustainable production practices and value-added processing to ensure long-term benefits for all stakeholders involved in the cocoa supply chain.
