Abstract

The food needs of the Indonesian people are increasing along with the increase the number of human population. One of the food needs of the community is meat, which is quite accommodated with chicken meat. This triggers an increase in chicken meat production by farmers every year. This increase also affects the waste produced, especially poultry feather waste (chicken). The increasing waste of chicken feathers has become the center of attention of researchers to process it into something more useful. The purpose of this study was to describe the making process of poultry feather waste (chicken) to reduce the impact of chicken feather waste pollution on the environment, by processing it into a protein source for ruminant feed in the form of Chicken Feather Hydrolyzate (CFH). The type of research is descriptive, with a qualitative approach. The focus of the description is on the processing of chicken feather waste into CFH as a source of protein for ruminant feed. The data collected by observation and literature study. The observation showed that chicken feather waste contained the protein needed in ruminant feed. Meanwhile, the results of the litterature study show that the ruminant needs at least 12% protein from their feeds. From this research, it can be concluded that chicken feather waste can be processed into a protein source for ruminants in the form of CFH.

Abstract

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, people wash their hands twice as often (64%) as they brush their teeth (31%). 2 out of 5 adults say they don't brush their teeth all day long. This habit is 7 times more likely to be imitated by children (kemkes.go.id, 2021). Globally, it is estimated that more than 530 million children suffer from primary dental caries (WHO, 2020). In general, children tend to dislike drugs and more likely to like sweets. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Care Bears in preventing dental caries for child. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study where the focus of the description is on the manufacture of gummy bears as a preventive measure against dental caries which generally infect children due to poor eating and brushing habits. The effectiveness of gummy bears’ prevention is based on the results of the respondents' acceptance and the antibacterial activity test on bacterial preparations in dental plaque. The results showed that Care Bear is quite acceptable by children and has preventive ability of bacteria. We hope that in the future this product can be mass produced so that it can help many children from dental caries.

Abstract

The development of technology is increasing very fast in this globalization era. But, the manual clothesline system that people use makes them raise it directly when the weather is uncertain sometimes distressed them. From that, we decided to make a prototype model of automatic clothesline built using Arduino Uno, that will simplify and shorten the time in lifting the clothesline for drying clothes even if the weather changes. In this study, the Arduino Uno microcontroller functioned as a data processor centers that will be obtained from the steam sensor to detect the rain water, ambient light sensor to detect the sunlight and also uses a servo to fold and unfold the roof. Testing results show that this prototype works well. When the device is turned on, the sensor will check the weather outside, whether it is rainy or sunny. When it is hot or sunny, the roof will keep folded. And if the weather gets dark or starts raining, the roof will be unfolded to cover the clothesline and turn on the infrared light automatically

Abstract

Polybags, or seedling containers, are planting media for nurseries, which are usually made of plastic. Plastic polybags have several weaknesses, so recently many organic-based polybags have been developed that are safer and more environmentally friendly. On the other hand, in Indonesia, there is a lot of waste sugarcane, paper, and eggshells that are not used optimally. Bagasse contains cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Paper has wood cellulose fibers. Eggshells have nutrients that are beneficial for plants and contain calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and can be used as a shaper and strengthening for polybags. The combination of these materials, with the addition of tapioca flour as an adhesive, can be used as a substitute for plastic polybags where one of the other advantages of this product can be decomposed in the soil into nutrients for plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Ecofriendly Polybags and to minimize the use of plastic, as well as efforts to reuse sugarcane, paper, and eggshell waste. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study where the focus of the description is on making polybag innovations that are safe for the environment. The collection method is through observation, experiment, and literature review. The tests carried out were physical tests, decomposition rate tests, and product trials. The datasets obtained in this study were analyzed using descriptive methods. Based on the tests carried out, this study succeeded in identifying the effectiveness of Ecofriendly Polybags as a polybag innovation that is safe for the environment and as an effort to reuse bagasse, eggshell, and paper waste.
