The aim of the Conference on Design Manufacture Engineering and Its Application (CDMA) is to provide a scientific platform for researchers, academics, and professionals to share and disseminate original research, innovative ideas, and practical developments in the fields of design engineering, manufacturing technology, and their multidisciplinary applications. CDMA welcomes the submission of theoretical and empirical papers that aim to advance knowledge, challenge conventional practices, and offer new insights into areas such as product design, manufacturing systems, industrial automation, materials engineering, and related domains. Submissions may employ various methodological approaches, including experimental research, modeling and simulation, qualitative studies, and data-driven analysis.

Abstract

Abstract – PT. Aneka Adhilogam Karya is a national private company engaged in the sand-casting industry supplying its products to the Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM) Indonesia. One of the products of piping supporting components manufactured is Clamp Saddle. Many of these products still have casting defects, such as gas porosity and shrinkage. Gating system is one of the most crucial factors to determine the quality of cast products. It is necessary to design a gating system for Clamp Saddle products. Then the casting simulation using ProCast 2018 needs to be done to get an optimal design and detect the presence of defect shrinkage or gas porosity. Furthermore, the sand casting process is carried out, and radiographic testing is carried out to detect defects in the inside of the Clamp Saddle product. The results of the study obtained agating system design with a pattern size of 400 mm x 335 mm then analyzed defects using ProCast 2018 on the variable total shrinkage porosity and air entrainment so that optimal results were obtained. Clamp Saddle product results from sand casting experiments were tested using radiography test(RT) to detect shrinkage or gas porosity and found some gas porosity but were still tolerable because of their small size of about 1 mm then they were few in number and were not gathered together

Abstract

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is a weed plant in aquatic areas that lives floating in waters. Water hyacinth has a very fast reproduction so that this plant is considered as a plant that damages the environment. In this research, water hyacinth fiber-reinforced composites were made. The main variables of this study were the volume fraction variation of 15% and the alkaline process using NaOH concentration of 0% and 5% immersion for 2 hours with the tensile testing procedure referring to ASTM D 3039. From the results of the study obtained the average maximum tensile strength 19.71 ± 4.60 MPa at 5% NaOH delignification for 2 hours and the lowest average tensile strength at 0% NaOH delignification for 2 hours 14,76 ± 1,98 MPa.

Abstract

CV. Gaya Indah (CV. GI) is a company engaged in the field of machining services. One of the products being produced is bush kora. Bush kora is a spare part of a motor vehicle that functions as a protector/house for bearings. In 2021 the number of requests for bush kora products increased rapidly to increase production capacity the company's want to change the production flow from 1 machine to 2 machines, but the number of machines in the company was not sufficient so the Company plans to invest in Mazak Quick Smart 150s CNC Lathe Machine by considering technical/operational aspects and financial aspects. The results of the analysis obtained in the technical/operational aspect is that the production capacity can meet the eligibility requirements, that is demand < production capacity. In the financial aspect, the feasibility assessment criteria using NPV (Net Present Value) has a positive value of Rp. 50.694.290,-, the percentage of IRR (Internal Rate of Return) is 9,138% and is greater than the discount factor specified, that is 6,678% , and the payback period shows that the time required to return the invested investment is 5 months 16 days faster than the project contract period, which is 1 year, so from the results of the analysis using the capital budgeting technique, it is stated that the investment plan is feasible to implement.

Abstract

Abstract – The red brick manufacturing industry is starting to be abandoned by many people and switch to using hebel bricks. Several things have caused red bricks to be abandoned, namely the price of red bricks is more expensive when compared to lightweight bricks for a size of 1 m2, besides that red bricks produced by conventional production processes have a red brick surface shape that is often uneven. Based on these conditions, we need an idea and innovation to create a machine to improve the production of red bricks in the form of a machine for smoothing and molding the clay of red brick for home-scale industries. The machine manufacturing process will use the Ulrich method from identifying machine requirements to selecting concepts and fabrication. Based on the results of the design using the Ulrich method, the design concept was chosen 1. Then planning, calculation and analysis will be carried out to determine the components to build the machine. The next stage is making of detailed drawings of the machine, followed by the fabrication and testing process. In testing clay smoothing and molding machine for red brick, the machine is capable of producing 120 red bricks per hour with a total cost of Rp. 12.217.500,-.

Abstract

PT. AAM Surabaya implements MTO and Jobshop strategies. Some of the steel and fire door projects were delayed. One of the factors is MPS was arranged without considering the production capacity. It is necessary to calculate the production capacity as a reference in the preparation of MPS. This study uses RCCP method to calculate production capacity. Preparation of MPS by using transportation method taking into account the results of RCCP analysis. Production scheduling is also performed to one of the project have the biggest delay using shortest processing time (SPT) rules with WinQSB software. The results of this study obtained the calculation of available capacity and needed capacity uses in analysis of production capacity feasibility, there were 6 projects that met the target and 9 projects didn't meet the target. Based on the results, MPS preparation was conducted by determining how long regular hours and overtime using transportation methods, total cost of overall machinery using transportation methods is Rp. 1,344,723,150,-. While the company's cost Rp. 1,581,390,000,. Production scheduling on MIS-DSD project is faster completion times than the company's plans. The company's scheduling is 22 days effective while using WinQSB software is 19 days effective. The result of this research can be used as a reference by PT. AAM Surabaya in the next production to minimize the occurrence of delays.

Abstract

Project is a production process that is unique, and is carried out within a certain period of time with limited resources to achieve the targets set. Steel Structure - Primary Crushing is one of mining company’s projects in East Java and is carried out by PT. Lintech Duta Pratama. But this project is past the specified deadline These lateness have consequences like fines or decreased client’s trust toward company’s performance and affect completion for other projects. Optimization is needed to avoid delays. The scheduling method used is a Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) that simpler for overlapping activities. To get a shorter duration of project completion, acceleration (crashing) analysis must be done. The results of the study obtained the duration of acceleration from 143 days to 125 days. The acceleration has two alternative, with overwork that increased the costs by 8,97% from the normal costs. While the other alternative is to add more worker that increased the costs by 0,65%. The cost of increasing the worker is lower so that alternative has the optimal cost and time.

Abstract

Abstract – The KRSB ship is a hospital ship made by one of the shipping manufacturing companies in Surabaya. On the ship there is a main engine that has an exhaust system. The exhaust system consists of several components, one of which is the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe will be subjected to vibration due to resonance from the main engine. So it is necessary to design a support for the exhaust pipe that is strong and not deformed to support all types of loading. An analysis of the stresses acting on the supports was performed using the Fusion 360 student version software. In this study, we obtained a design drawing that can be used as an alternative in installing supports on the exhaust pipe. In this study, 3 variations of the strut installation were selected. The first concept are choosen, which consists of 9 supports, it has the highest score in the Ulrich concept assessment. Safety factor value is 2.87, capable of receiving a voltage of 60.66 MPa.

Abstract

Assembly lines that have poor efficiency result in various problems in the production process, one of which is the bottleneck problem. PT. Pindad (Persero) as a manufacturing company, has problems in the assembly line for special vehicles, where the efficiency of the assembly line has an unclear and uneven distribution of workloads, this results in poor production efficiency. This study aims to valuate the efficiency of PT. Pindad (Persero) and produce alternative improvements. An evaluation of the Komodo tactical vehicle product assembly line was conducted using line efficiency, balance delay, and smoothest index. It is known that the existing assembly line has a line efficiency of 13.25%, a balance delay of 86.75%, and a smoothest index of 875.31. Then the line balance is improved using heuristic line balancing methods. The methods used include the largest candidate rule, ranked positional weight, and regional approach. The results of this study are recommendations for special vehicle assembly lines using the line balancing ranked positional weight method with a line efficiency value of 94.1%, balance delay of 5.9%, and smoothest index of 8.86.

Abstract

Abstract - Train door is one of the projects undertaken by PT INKA Multi Solusi. This project was expected to be completed on time, but actually it was delayed. The methods used in this research are the Critical Path Method (CPM) and Project Evaluation Review Technique (PERT). The CPM and PERT methods are suitable for scheduling in order to obtain the fastest completion time by considering the estimated completion time of the project due to the uncertainty that occurs in the field, so that the percentage of possible completion of the project is obtained. The results found that the probability of delays in the planned schedule is 61.41%. To overcome this delay, it is necessary to accelerate the duration using an alternative 4 hours of overtime. Based on the analysis of the Time Cost Trade Off method, the optimal time and cost of the train door's production on the MYC 2020 measuring train's project was obtained, namely the acceleration of duration to 199.6 days with total cost of Rp 462,280,692,-. Based on the Swent under the curve of the plan duration because the completion process was delayed so the time required was longer than the plan.

Abstract

Abstract - Industrial and construction projects are one of the sectors that support economic growth in Indonesia. Projects are required to be managed to achieve the targets that have been set. One of the construction companies PT. LDP specializing in engineering received the Air Receiver Tank project from one of the clients and the project was delayed from a predetermined deadline. Such delays have consequences for the decrease in client confidence in the performance of the company. Therefore, evaluation and analysis related to the performance of the project are required to the time and cost of the project using the Earned Value Method (EVM). Scheduling analysis uses Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) and crashing to speed up the duration of project completion. The results of the study based on EVM analysis showed that the project experienced delays with an estimated project completion time of 88 days and an estimated project completion cost of Rp662,241,998.41. Based on the analysis using PDM and crashing obtained the results of acceleration from 95 days to 65 days. The acceleration alternative used is to increase the workforce by 50% with a cost increase of 13.89% of the direct labor cost at the actual duration
