Abstract

The large number of industries that dispose of waste, such as disposing of factory waste into irrigation waters, makes the quality of the irrigation water decrease. If the irrigation water is polluted then it results in an increase in bacteria, of course it will affect the welfare of the community and farmers. The consequences of this need to be corrected, one of which is by giving coffee grounds. Coffee grounds contain volatile acids which can help degrade bacteria, where these volatile acids can penetrate the bacterial cell walls. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory power of coffee grounds on irrigation water exposed to basreng waste in Sariwangi Village, Tasikmalaya. The samples used were 2 samples with a distance of 20 m each. The method used is using TPC (Total Plate Count) testing. The research results show that giving coffee grounds at a dose of 3.3 g was able to reduce the microbes in irrigation water affected by basreng waste by 26% or an average result for point A of 19,000 and for point B of 28,000. Based on the research, coffee grounds can inhibit or reduce coliform bacteria in irrigation water.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the composition of butterflies (Lepidoptera), analyze indices of diversity, evenness, richness, dominance and their conservation status. This research uses exploration techniques by observing and exploring 5 research stations at the research location. Sampling was carried out in March - April 2023at 07.00-12.00 WIB with 3 repetitions. Based on the results of research, butterflies that found in Coban Watu Ondo area were 21 species. Diversity index (H') 2.24 (Medium), means that the condition of the environment and ecosystem is quite good. Evenness index (E) 0.84 (High), means that the number of individuals of each species present is relatively equal and evenly distributed. Richness index (R) 3.06 (Medium), corresponds to the diversity index. Dominance index (D) 0.15 (Low), means that no species dominates. Conservation status based on IUCN shows that there are 17 species classified as not evaluated, 2 species classified as near threatened and 2 species classified as least concern.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the existence of Staphylococcus bacteria in second hand clothes at Pasar Panorama Bengkulu. This research used an observational method by counting the population of Staphylococcus bacteria in various types of second hand clothes. The collected clothes were diluted and the staphylococcus were isolated by using nutrient agar as a growth media. The results of this research showed that there were bacterial colonies produced from second clothes with the highest number of colonies on cotton clothes, 35 X 103. The research is expected to have a contribution as a consideration for the community when buying second clothes and build public awareness to prevent transmission of the disease caused by them.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of hugelkultur application with raised beds on the growth and productivity of Brassica rapa L. The type of research used was experimental research with a completely randomized design (CRD) using 3 treatments and 9 replications. The treatment details are P1 (hugelkultur planting media with raised bed), P2 (conventional planting media with raised bed), P3 (conventional planting media with polybags). This research was carried out in Karang Jaya, Selupu Rejang District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province in September-November 2023. The research data were analyzed using one-factor ANOVA using SPSS 16, if there were variations between treatments then continued with LSD. The conclusion of the research was that the application of hugelkultur planting media with a raised bed showed that there were differences in the growth and productivity of Brassica rapa L., plants in each treatment with the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf width and wet weight. The results of the ANOVA statistical test showed that there was an influence of the application of hugelkultur planting media with raised beds on the productivity growth of Brassica rapa L.

Abstract

This study aims to identify types of macrofungi that are resistant to the presence of Hg in their environment. The method used is survey research by exploring mushrooms in the area around the Small Scale Gold Mining (ASGM). Tambang Sawah Village, Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Data findings were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the types of macrofungi that were able to survive Hg stress were Ganoderma applanatum, Dacryopinax spathularia, Daldinia concentrica, Ganoderma lucidum and Polyporus alveolaris. In conclusion, five types of macrofungi that are adaptive to mercury (Hg) were found. The highest Hg accumulation was found in D. concentrica.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to reveal the natural foods of S. cynocephalus from Padang Guci River, Kaur Regency. This research was conducted by using stratified random sampling by catching 75 individuals from its habitat divided by 3 stations such as Station I (upstream), Station II (middle stream) and Station III (downstream). Sampling was conducted using fishing trap and fishing net and then stomach dissection was done in Laboratory of Biology, FMIPA UNIB to identify food variety, body ratio, digestive tract ratio and frequency of food occurrences of fish samples (each 25 samples per station). In addition, water quality parameters were also measured. Based on the result, the data showed that there is a different in body development of mungkus fish which in Station I was positive allometry. In contrast, station II and III showed negative allometry. Based on frequency of food occurrence. The highest occurrence was Cosmarium decoratum (72 %) and the lowest was Synedra. All obtained food were classified as algae. Analysis of digestive tract and body ratio revealed that S. cynocephalus was categorized as herbivore fish with the ratio 3.72-5.34. The measurement of abiotic factor indicated that all parameters were still fulfil water quality standard to support the sustainability of Mungkus life in Padang Guci River.

Abstract

This study is to investigate the feeding and washing habits of swamp buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis carabanesis) in Teluk Kayu Putih Village, VII Koto District, Tebo Regency. This study was carried out from July to October 2023, involving a sample of 5 buffalo. The sample included adult male and female buffalo, as well as immature male and female buffalo (referred to as "girl"), and male calves. This study employs the One Zero technique, utilizing 10-minute intervals, conducted between 06:00 and 16:00 WIB. The research findings indicated that adult female buffalo exhibited the most feeding activity, specifically 16.36 times, whereas male buffalo calves shown the lowest feeding activity, specifically 9.00 times. The frequency of rumination, a type of ruminant behavior, was highest in young males at a rate of 7.42 times, whereas young female buffalo exhibited the lowest frequency of rumination at 5.93 times. The study revealed that adult male buffalo engage in wallowing activity more frequently than any other group, with an average of three times per day. In contrast, cub males engage in wallowing behavior just once per day, which is the lowest frequency seen. The average duration of wallowing was determined to be 37.33 minutes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine distribution patterns, calculate the diversity of pollinator insects, and analyze the relationship between environmental factors and the number of species and individual pollinator insects in Calamansi. This research is located in Jada Bahrin Village (station 1), Balunijuk Village (station 2), and Air Jangkang Village (station 3). The research location was determined based on the exploratory method of sampling insects using sweep nets and vane traps. Based on the research results, 811 individual insects were obtained, consisting of 300 pollinator insects (2 orders, 6 families, and 27 species) and 511 non-pollinator insects (4 orders, 14 families, and 18 species). The most common insect family was the Nymphalidae family with 101 individuals, and the least common was the Lycaneidae family with 2 individuals. The diversity index (3.360), wealth index (6.723), and evenness index (0.802) are included in the high category, while the dominance index is low (0.042). The distribution pattern of pollinator insects at the three stations is included in the uniform category. The results of the PCA analysis showed that the diversity, distribution pattern, and number of individuals were affected by air temperature, while the number of species was affected by air humidity and light intensity.
