Abstract

This study aimed to test the ethanol extract of honje fruit (Etlingera hemisphaerica) in regulating total cholesterol (CT) and triglyceride (TG) levels in mice (Mus musculus).  This study was a limited clinical trial with trials measuring CT and TG levels before and after treatment. measurement of CT and TG levels using four treatment groups (1 control, 2 doses of E. Hemisphaerica  Fruit Ethanol Extract (EEBE) and 1 dose of simvastatin), and each group was replicated by 5 M. musculus. The pathological condition is carried out with high-fat feeding for 10 days. The extract given consisted of two doses of EEBE, namely (0.26 and 0.39) mg / dL body weight (BB), and a comparison drug dose (simvastatin 0.52 mg / dL BB). Data collection has been carried out before and after EEBE administration for 13 days. Based on the BNT test, the average CT levels of the 4 treatment groups before treatment were 198.6 mg / dL and CT levels after treatment were 196.0 mg / dL, then the average TG levels before treatment were 160.2 mg / dL and after treatment was 158.4 mg / dL. While in treatment group 2 with EEBE dose (0.39 mg / g BB) experienced a decrease in CT levels before treatment namely (225.4 mg / dL) until after treatment namely (201.2 mg / dL) by 10.7% and also experienced a decrease in TG levels from before treatment ie (304.2 mg / dL) to after treatment ie (289.2 mg / dL) by 5%.  Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that giving EEBE to potentially reduce CT and TG levels in M. musculus test animals in the three treatment groups.

Abstract

Amorphophallus titanum is a rare plant with high economic potential. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of vegetative propagation of Amorphophallus titanum through stem cuttings by providing treatment with the addition of ecoenzyme composition. Four ecoenzyme treatments with variations in vegetable composition (100%) and fruit peels (0%, 50%, 75%) were applied to stem cuttings. The materials used in the manufacture of ecoenzymes must be fresh and have not rotted or indicated mold. Ecoenzymes that have been made and fermented for 3 months, then will be analyzed for macroelements Nitrogen (N), P (phosphorus), Potassium (K). The results showed that only treatment with a 100% vegetable composition was able to increase the percentage of plant survival by 80% after 8 weeks. These results indicate that the composition of ecoenzymes has a great influence on the growth of stem cuttings of Amorphophallus titanum. The composition of ecoenzymes containing fruit peels, both singly and in mixtures, has a negative effect on plant growth. Further research is needed to identify the active compounds in ecoenzymes that affect the growth  of Amorphophallus titanum.

Abstract

Contraception is an effort to prevent or delay pregnancy. One natural contraceptive that can be used is papaya leaves (Carica papaya L). Papaya leaves (Carica papaya L) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins and saponins which are thought to have antifertility effects. Alkaloids can suppress FSH and LH hormones while flavonoids have receptors similar to the estrogen hormone, but it doesn't function like estrogen, so that there is an emphasis on LH hormone and there is an inhibition of Folliculogenesis. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of giving papaya (Carica papaya L) leaf extract on the folliculogenesis of mice (Mus musculus). This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. The samples used are mice (Mus musculus) strain Balb-C, then the data obtained will be analyzed descriptively and using Chi-Square. The results obtained from this research are that papaya leaf extract has an effect on the estrus cycle, which is lengthened in the diestrus phase, and can reduce the number of primary follicles, secondary follicles, and de Graff.
