Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of digital storytelling on student engagement and their literacy skills. Digital storytelling, which combines narrative elements with multimedia technology, is expected to improve students' learning experience and enrich literacy skills, both in reading, writing, and critical thinking. In the context of education that is increasingly connected to technology, this approach is considered relevant to increase student motivation and participation in learning. This study uses a quantitative method with a pseudo-experimental design. The research sample consisted of students from several high schools divided into two groups: an experimental group that used digital storytelling in learning and a control group that used traditional methods. Data was collected through student engagement questionnaires and literacy skills tests adapted from the applicable curriculum. The data analysis technique uses a t-test to see the difference between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that there was a significant increase in student engagement and literacy skills in the experimental group that used digital storytelling. Students who are involved in digital storytelling-based learning show higher motivation in following the learning process and better literacy skills, especially in the aspects of text comprehension and writing creativity. In contrast, the control group that used conventional methods did not show significant changes in both aspects. Based on these results, it can be concluded that digital storytelling has a positive influence on student engagement and their literacy skills. Therefore, the application of digital storytelling in learning can be one of the innovative alternatives to improve the quality of education in this digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between sprint running speed and long jump ability among Grade X students of SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Ulim. The population of this study consisted of all Grade X students of SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Ulim, totaling 150 students. Given the relatively large population, the researcher took 20% of the total population as a sample, amounting to 30 students, using a random sampling technique. Data collection in this study involved measuring sprint running speed using a 50-meter sprint test and long jump ability using a long jump test. Data analysis was conducted using correlational statistical techniques. The data analysis results showed that the average sprint running speed of Grade X students at SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Ulim was 49.98, with a standard deviation of 0.83, and the average long jump ability was 50.10, with a standard deviation of 10.07. The correlation calculation resulted in a value of 0.41. To test the hypothesis, the t-test was used, and the calculated t-value was 2.42, which is greater than the critical t-value of 2.05553. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between sprint running speed and long jump results among Grade X students at SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Ulim. In other words, the hypothesis is accepted. It is recommended that physical education teachers emphasize that muscle strength, speed, and power are key supporting factors in athletic sports, particularly in the long jump event. Teachers should pay more attention to and provide training to improve students' long jump performance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of creative character cultivation in grade IV students through Creative Week activities at MI Al-Hidayah Karanggintung, Banyumas Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of creative character cultivation is carried out through three stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning stage includes the preparation of thematic activities such as Market Day, Cooking Day, Fun Day, and Cleaning Day which are designed to provide space for students to develop their creativity. In the implementation stage, students are given the freedom to express their ideas according to their interests and talents, with support from the teacher as a facilitator. Meanwhile, at the evaluation stage, teachers and students together reflect on activities for future improvement. This research has succeeded in revealing that Creative Week activities can effectively be a medium in instilling creative character in students. This can be seen from the students' enthusiasm, increased confidence, and students' ability to produce original works. In addition, this activity also encourages the creation of a fun and meaningful learning climate. Therefore, this study recommends that this kind of activity be developed in a sustainable manner by involving all elements of the school and parents in its implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the use of the Figma design application with the ATM (Observe, Imitate, Modify) method in improving the design skills and creativity of grade X students at SMK Negeri 3 Medan. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with participatory observation techniques, interviews, documentation, and analysis of students' work. The research was conducted on 30 students majoring in Software Engineering through educational field practice. The results show that the ATM approach is able to improve the understanding of design principles, technical skills in the use of Figma, as well as encourage innovation in design modification. Digital collaboration also helps develop communication and teamwork skills. Although there were initial obstacles in adapting Figma's features, they could be overcome through intensive mentoring. Thus, the integration of Figma and the ATM method has proven to be effective as a design learning strategy that is applicable, creative, and in accordance with industry needs.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of seeking knowledge in the classical Islamic text Adabul ‘Ālim wal Muta’allim by KH. Hasyim Asy’ari and its relevance to the personality development of students (santri) at Dormitory H of the Ngalah Islamic Boarding School. The book emphasizes core values such as sincerity, humility, diligence, patience, and respect for teachers and knowledge, which serve as the foundation for character formation in Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative approach, employing literature review, observation, and interviews with caretakers and students. The focus includes understanding the contents of the book, the personality profile of the students, and the relationship between the two. Findings indicate that the values taught in the book remain highly relevant and are reflected in the students’ behavior, such as discipline, sincerity, and modesty. However, challenges such as the influence of technology and the lack of integration of the book’s values in non-formal activities still need to be addressed. The study concludes that Adabul ‘Ālim wal Muta’allim is not merely a classical text but also a practical guide for shaping knowledgeable and virtuous students, offering a solution to the current crisis of student character.

Abstract

Indonesian society is plural and requires an inclusive, tolerant, and balanced religious approach. A cross-madzhab comparative study of fiqh demonstrates that differences of opinion among Islamic scholars represent intellectual richness rather than sources of division, and can therefore foster religious moderation and prevent fanaticism. This study aims to analyze the role of cross-madzhab fiqh comparison in strengthening religious moderation within Islamic Religious Education. Using a qualitative library research approach, this study analyzes classical fiqh texts, contemporary scholarly works, and educational literature through thematic content analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic religious moderation emphasizes tolerance, openness, and justice, which can be strengthened in Islamic Religious Education through teacher exemplification, moderation-based curricula, value integration across learning materials, and dialogical-participatory learning methods. Cross-madzhab comparison is relevant in shaping moderate attitudes by enabling students to understand juristic differences proportionally, thus discouraging exclusive truth claims and fanaticism. This study contributes to Islamic education discourse by positioning cross-madzhab comparison as a pedagogical tool to strengthen students’ inclusive and moderate religious character in a multicultural society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between students’ understanding of the values taught in the Pancasila Education course and their attitudes toward rejecting online gambling practices. The increasing access to digital technology has encouraged various forms of misuse, including online gambling, which has the potential to damage students’ academic, economic, and moral aspects. Pancasila Education is viewed as a strategic instrument in shaping students’ character, integrity, and legal awareness. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The sample consists of 24 students who have completed the Pancasila Education course. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire with 20 statement items. The validity test results indicate that all items meet the validity criteria, while the reliability test yields a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.916, indicating a very high level of consistency. Simple regression analysis shows a significant relationship between students’ understanding of Pancasila values and their anti–online gambling attitudes (t = 5.28; p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination of 0.568. These findings indicate that the higher students’ understanding of Pancasila values, the stronger their tendency to reject online gambling practices. The results provide important implications for strengthening character education in higher education in response to the challenges of the digital era.
