Abstract

Background: The prevalence of stunting toddlers in Indonesia is still high. The causes of stunting include the low nutritional value of food consumed by infants. Foods that are rich in nutrients include cowpea and brown rice. Objective: to determine the acceptability and protein and calcium content of porridge with the addition of cowpea and rice through organoleptic testing. Method: this type of research is quasi-experimental. Addition of cowpea and brown rice are X1 cowpea 100% brown rice 50% and X2 cowpea 50% and brown rice 100% Analysis of organoleptic test data on porridge using Mann Whitney. Results: Statistical test results showed that the use of cowpea and brown rice affected the color of the porridge (p = 0.00) and the taste of the porridge (p = 0.04). The use of cowpea and brown rice had no effect on the aroma of porridge (p = 0.06), texture (p = 0.93) and preference level (p = 0.94). The highest content of pro-tein and calcium in porridge at X1 is 3.29% and 70.40 mg / kg. Conclusion: the use of cowpea and brown rice in MP-ASI baby porridge affected the organoleptic test results in the color category, and the taste of the porridge.

Abstract

Background. Anemia is a condition when the blood haemoglobin at under the normal level. Pregnant women are categorized as anemia if the blood haemoglobin less than 11 gram percent (World Health Organization, 2002) In majors anemia in pregnant women due by lack intake of iron (fe), so it’s called the Iron Nutrition Anemia. The Data in Purwoyoso Public Health Center, Semarang, depicted that during last 4 years prevalence anemia in the region that district is still high, which is 45% (2010), 41% (2011), 52% (2012) and 49% (2013).  To cope the anemia of pregnant women, Purwoyoso Public Health Center has been implementing the program of distribution iron tablet to all  pregnant women, 90 tablets during pregnancy. The general aim of this study is to analysis  the relationship of the compliance level of drinking iron tablet  with the increasing of  pregnant woment’s blood haemoglobin level The data of the complients level of drinking iron tablet was collected by interviews methode and  the increasing of blood haemoglobin level was collected Shahli method. Univariat Analysis were done by using frequency distribution table. The relations analysis between the compliance level of drinking iron tablet and  the increasing of pregnant women’s blood haemoglobin level were done by the Rank- Sperman test. The results. Total of the pregnant women were got the number of iron tablet 90. Some of them (85.7%) acknowledging drink iron tablets. The lowest compliance level is 81% and the highest is 100 %.  The average of pregnant women’s blood haemoglobin level before drinking iron tablets is 10.9 gram percent, with standard deviation 1.0486 gram percent. After dringking the iron tablets, the average of pregnant woment’s  blood haemoglobin level is 11.6 percent, with standard deviation 0.35857 gram percent. There are an increasing of the level blood haemogloben, 0,7 gram percent the average. The Rank-Spearman Test expose that there was a relationship between the compliance level of drinking iron tablet and the increasing of pregnant woment’s blood haemoglobin level ((p value = 0,002<0,0,05) Conclusion There is a relationship between the compliance level of drinking iron tablet with the increasing of pregnant women’s blood haemoglobin level at Purwoyoso Pubpic Health Center, Semarang.

Abstract

Chronic renal failure is a decline in kidney function is quite heavy going slowly (chronic) caused by kidney disease. Is progresive and generally can not be recovered. Therapy in chronic renal failure including dialysis and kidney transplantation. Dialysis therapy is often done perotonial hemodialysis and dialysis. Hemodialysis is a form of dialysis is performed in end – stage renal disease. Patients chronic renal failure with hemodialysis are given high-protein diet provided 50 % of them have a high biological value that sufficient levels of essential amino acids. Disorders of protein metabolism in chronic renal failure usually leads to decreased levels of Hb, so that thehigh protein diit was made compulsory to the patients with chronic renal failure with hemodialysis treatment. The general objective is reviewing image with high levels of Hb protein intake in patients chronicrenal failure with hemodialysis in the inpatient hospital PKU Muhammadiyahyogyakarta. While the goal is to describe the particular characteristics and describing the protein intake, describing the Hb levels, and decribing  the protein intake with Hb levels of patients with chronic renal hemodialysis. Types of data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data through interviews with patients and their families include medical history, eating habits at homeand food intake during hospitalization. To find their food intake using the recall, while the secondary data through patient medical records. The results shows the characteristic of patients cronic renal failure with hemodialysis is largely male-sex. The lowest age of them is 46 years and the highest is 70 years. The average of protein intake is adequate (34 – 44 gr/days), while the big part of them have Hb levels from 7 to9.9 mg/dl.Keywords : protein, Hb, renal chronic failure, haemodialysis

Abstract

Hygiene sanitation of food in the canteen is important because of the existence of a canteen to ensure the health of canteen users. The behavior of food handlers determines the quality of food served. During this time there were still many cases of food handlers who lacked good behavior as food handlers. This study aims to improve the behavior of food handlers in the Jember State Polytechnic canteen using poster media without counseling. This research is a quasi-experimental study with the design of one group pretest posttest. Respondents from this study came from 10 food stands at the Jember State Polytechnic canteen. The first month was given a pretest and poster installation. Then the poster was left for 2 months and posttest. Data retrieval uses a behavior checklist form that has been validated. The results of statistical analysis show that the value of p = 0.9981 which means > 0.05 (alpha). That is, there were no significant changes between before and after the poster was given. This means that giving posters without counseling was not effective in changing the behavior of food handlers for the better. Viewed from the poster media itself there are no problems. However, explanations such as short presentations or counseling are needed so that food handlers change their behavior.Keywords: Canteen, Counseling, Food Handler Behavior, Posters

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a health condition characterized by increasing uric acid levels in the body. Jamaican cherry (Muntingia calabura) is vitamin C containing fruit that have lowering-purine effect.The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Kersen (Muntingia calabura) extract on uric acidlevels. This was experimental study with pretest-posttest control group design. Male and female aged above 50 years and not taking vitamins were reqruites as subjects . In this study, the subjects were divided into control and treatment group with the total of 17 subjects for each group. The subjects consume 40.5 grams Kersen. The uric acid level was measured by helath professionals using Easy Touch. The diference of uric acid level were analized using Wilcoxon test  and Man-Whitney test, and the correlation and effect of Kersen were analyzed using Partial Correlation test and LinearRegression Test. The results show that uric acid levels in the treatment group were above normal as well as the control group because at the beginning of the study there were differences in the subject selection of each group. The results show that there is an effect of granting cherry juice to uric acid level ( p 0.004).Keywords: Gout, Hyperuricemia, Cherry Fruit, Vitamin C.

Abstract

The iron-folate tablets program on adolescent girls for anemia prevention still facing some obstacles, especially adherence to consuming them. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and health worker’s support with the adherence of iron-folate tablets consumption. This study was a cross-sectional study, conducted at SMKN 1 Bangsri Jepara. Anumber of 73 respondents were selected by stratified random sampling. The data were obtained through interviews using a questionnaire, and analyzed using Rank Spearman test.The results showed that most respondents had moderate knowledge (54.8%), good attitude (69.9%), and good health worker’s support (65.8%). As much as 82.2% of adolescent girls did not comply to consume iron-folate tablet which were given once in a week. The unpleasant smell and taste of iron-folate was the reason for the respondent’s (31,5%) disiobedient. The statistical tests showed that there were relationships between knowledge and respondent’s compliance (p=0.004;r=0.334), attitude and respondent’s compliance (p=0.000;r=0.543) and health worker’s support with the respondent’s compliance (p=0.000;r=0.544).The health worker’s support variable is the most dominant variable related to the compliance of iron-folate tablets consumption. It is shown that the higher the support from health workers, the higher the compliance of iron-folate tablets consumption.Keywords: Compliance, adolescent girl, iron-folate tablet consumption

Abstract

Indonesia is predicted to experience a demographic bonus period, namely the number of productive age population (aged 15-64 years) of 64%. The prevalence of obesity at productive age from 2007 to 2018 has increased from 8.6% to 13.6%. Obesity will result in high percent body fat andvisellar fat, and will result in various non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer and other non-metabolic complications such as arthritis. The onset of this disease in obese people is preceded by a group of symptoms such as hypertension, insulinresistance, dyslipidemia. Objectives: To determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and Percent body fat and to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and Viscelar Fat. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design with purposive sampling method, namely thosevisiting the Aisyiyah Regional Leadership Stand in Semarang City at the Expo of Community Organizations in Semarang City. The sample is 115 people. Results: This study found that 35 (30.4%) men and 80 (69.6%) women, Average Age: (45.14 ± 14.55) years, Body Mass Index (25.39 ± 3.96), mean percent body fat (32.63 ± 6.68) mean viscelar fat (7.93 ± 5.13). There is a relationship between BMI and percent body fat (p = 0.000) and there is a relationship between BMI and Viscelar fat (p = 0.000).Keywords: Body Mass Index, percent body fat, Viscelar fat

Abstract

Hydration status is a condition that describes the amount of fluid in the body. If the intake of fluids from food and drinks in the project workers is not met, then it has an opportunity to cause dehydration. Declining productivity in workers can be caused by dehydration. Obejctive this study to determine the relationship between physical activity, fluid intake, nutritional status and hydration status in project workers. An observational study with a cross sectional approach, the study population  was project workers. The number of samples in this study were 53 respondents. The study was conducted by direct interview, measurement of body weight, height, body fat percent and urine specific gravity. Data analysis in this study used the Spearman correlation test.The age of workers ranged from 17-52 years. The average BMI of workers is 22,417 kg / m2. The average value of PAL in physical activity of workers 2.37. The average fluid intake of workers is 2018.30 ml. The hydration status of workers who are severely dehydrated is 79.2%. There is a relationship between physical activity (0.026),  fluid intake and hydration status (0.001) and there is no relationship between nutritional status and hydration status (0.789).

Abstract

In daily observations the pattern of food consumption in the Purworejo village community is not so diverse, there are still mothers who are not posyandu participants so that knowledge related to food diversification is lacking while family income levels are quite varied.The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal nutritional knowledge, level of family food diversity in Purworejo Village, Margoyoso Pati District.His study is a quantitative analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The sample  of this study was housewives in Purworejo Village, Margoyoso Pati District. The number of samples is 88 households which are determined by systematic random sampling. The variables in this study were measured by interviews and questionnaires. The statistical test used in the variables of nutritional knowledge and family income level is Rank Spearman correlation,while the maternal match variable in the posyandu uses Mann Whitney.Found 45.5% of respondents had good nutrition knowledge and 48.9% had poornutrition knowledge. There were 69.3% of respondents did not become Posyandu participants, 52.3% of respondents had poor food diversification. There is a relationship between maternal nutrition knowledge with food diversification practices and there is no difference in Family Food Diversification Practices based on maternal participation in Posyandu.Keywords: nutritional knowledge, Food diversification.

Abstract

Many recommendations were made by the Indonesia’s government to prevent the occurrence of COVID-19 infection. One of those recommendations is to make several behavioural changes, such asincreasing the consumption of foods containing vitamin A, C, E, and zinc to increase immunity system in the body. These eating pattern can be influenced by several factors, such as individual perceptions. Thepurpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the concept of the health belief model and the eating pattern of Nutrition Students of UNUSA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method of this study was analytic observational study with cross sectional design. The instruments used in this study were online questionnaire regarding the health belief model and semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQFFQ). All respondents had a high perception of the seriousness of the COVID-19 disease, benefits in increasing consumption of healthy foods, support for eating healthy foods, and self efficacy to adopt healthy eating pattern. 47.8% of respondents had a low perception of barriers to healthy behavior, while 65.5% of respondents had a high perception of susceptibility to COVID-19 infection. Most of the respondents had adequate daily intake of vitamin A (93.8%) and vitamin C (74.3%). There was a difference in vitamin Cintake between the group with high perceived barrier and the low perceived barrier group (p value 0.037). There was significantly negative relationship between perceived barrier and vitamin E intake in the subjects, which means that if a person has higher barriers to consuming vitamin E, the person's vitamin E intake will also be lower. Keywords : COVID-19, health belief model, antioxidant, eating pattern
