Abstract

This paper aims to construct a model of indigenous community empowerment in responding to social change in the Arfak Mountains. Social transformation driven by development expansion, market economic integration, and shifts in values and social relations has affected local livelihoods, customary institutional structures, and cultural practices. This research employs a qualitative approach using ethnographic methods to gain an in-depth understanding of lived experiences, symbolic meanings, and community adaptation strategies in navigating these dynamics. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with customary leaders, women, and youth, as well as the review of local documents. The data were analyzed interpretatively through processes of reduction, categorization, and meaning-making. The findings indicate that effective empowerment is contextual, participatory, and rooted in local wisdom. The proposed model emphasizes strengthening customary institutions, community-based resource management, sustainable local economic development, and the creation of dialogue spaces between customary actors and government. Empowerment is understood not merely as economic capacity building, but as a collective process that reinforces cultural identity, social solidarity, and community resilience to change. This study offers an ethnography-based empowerment framework that is sensitive to the values and social structures of indigenous communities in the Arfak Mountains.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan akan salah satu sarana ibadah yang  nyaman di Desa Lambaro Skep, Kecamatan Kuta Alam, Kota Banda Aceh. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk membantu dalam pengawasan pembangunan Mushalla Al Kautsar dengan  membangun struktur mushalla yang lebih permanen, aman, dan representatif, serta meningkatkan rasa kebersamaan dan gotong royong di antara sesama warga. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk saat ini meliputi tahap perencanaan teknis, penggalangan dana dan partisipasi masyarakat, pelaksanaan pembangunan struktur utama, yaitu struktur pondasi tapak, struktur balok sloof, struktur kolom/tiang lantai 1, struktur balok lantai 2 dan plat lantai 2 dan penambahan fasilitas pendukung lainnya dan seluruh struktur utama menggunakan beton bertulang dengan mutu beton Ready Mixed setara dengan kuat tekan fc 35 Mpa, sedangkan struktur pondasi sumuran telah dilaksanakan tahun sebelumnya. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah terbangunnya struktur utama mushalla yang kokoh dengan luas bangunan yang memadai dan cukup menampung jamaah yang melakukan ibadah di mushalla tersebut, yang nanti akan dilengkapi dengan fasilitas wudhu dan sanitasi yang memadai. Selain aspek fisik, kegiatan ini juga berhasil mempererat tali silaturahmi antarwarga dan menumbuhkan semangat partisipasi aktif dalam pembangunan fasilitas umum. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan sarana ibadah tidak hanya memenuhi kebutuhan spiritual masyarakat, tetapi juga berperan penting dalam memperkuat hubungan sosial dan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the competence of Al Ammar Qur'an Tahfidz Science High School teachers in managing scientific work references through the use of the Mendeley application. Problems faced by partners include low digital literacy in the use of reference managers, manual citation and bibliography creation, and difficulties in adapting to journal style. The activity implementation method uses a participatory approach through workshops, demonstrations, direct practice, and intensive mentoring. Evaluation was carried out with pre-test and post-test instruments to measure the increase in understanding and skills of participants. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in all assessment aspects, namely understanding the concept of reference, mastery of Mendeley features, reference management, use of automatic citations in Microsoft Word, and bibliography preparation. The highest increase occurred in automatic citation skills with a score increase of 37 points. This activity not only improves teachers' technical competence in scientific writing but also strengthens digital literacy and readiness for publication in accredited national and reputable international journals. This program contributes to strengthening a technology-based academic culture in partner schools and supports the implementation of MBKM and the achievement of higher education's Key Performance Indicators

Abstract

aligning student competencies with the accelerating global digital economic transformation. At State Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 Sumbawa Besar, specifically within the Online Business and Marketing (BDP) program, a significant discrepancy exists between students' extensive social media engagement and their deficient literacy in utilizing these platforms for productive, commercial purposes. Most students perceive digital platforms exclusively as entertainment and passive interaction tools. This article examines the implementation and outcomes of a community service program designed to restructure paradigms and enhance technical digital marketing competencies through Instagram and Facebook platforms. Grounded in promotional mix and integrated marketing communication theories, the approach positions social media as a strategic instrument for creating value propositions and building measurable customer engagement. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) framework encompassed three phases: situational analysis through observation, intensive workshops incorporating hands-on training in Instagram visual content management and Facebook Ads, and comprehensive evaluation. The program engaged 60 students from grades X and XI. Quantitative evaluation through pre-test and post-test instruments revealed significant success in knowledge transfer and skill acquisition. The mean cognitive and technical comprehension score increased by 27.2 points, from 55.4 to 82.6 upon completion. Furthermore, the initiative successfully transformed students' psychological orientation from passive consumers to strategic content producers capable of designing and evaluating data-driven digital advertising campaigns. The integration of practical digital marketing training proved effective in equipping vocational students with industry-relevant 21st-century competencies. Findings underscore the imperative for educational stakeholders to formally integrate advanced digital marketing modules and advertising budget allocations into the regular curriculum and Teaching Factory (TEFA) units, thereby ensuring sustainable digital entrepreneurship competencies for advancing future micro-business ecosystems.

Abstract

Flood disasters that struck Langsa City, particularly Matang Seulimeng Village, have led to a logistics crisis and the paralysis of economic activities for the affected communities. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to provide rapid intervention through emergency food assistance to ensure the food security of residents during the emergency response period. This program was implemented through a strategic collaboration between Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK Charity House) and Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) as a tangible manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The methods employed include the preparation phase (data verification), the distribution phase (direct door-to-door delivery), and the evaluation phase. The results of the activity indicate that 20 packages of basic food assistance were successfully distributed to the 20 most affected households. This assistance proved capable of meeting the residents' basic nutritional needs during the flood isolation period while providing significant psychosocial support. The conclusion of this activity is that inter-university synergy is highly effective in accelerating humanitarian responses in disaster-prone areas. Suggestions for future activities include the need to develop a more integrated community-based disaster mitigation system to enhance the resilience of coastal communities in the future.

Abstract

Electrical power is used not only for lighting but also for devices that can facilitate daily activities, such as washing machines, where this device drives a device called an electric motor. Electric machines are widely used in various places to help humans complete their work. Electric machines have many types and uses according to their type. The use of an electric machine is generally very frequent, therefore the possibility of damage due to age and condition is the main cause. To extend the life of an electric machine, maintenance is necessary, and if damage occurs, it can usually be repaired so that the cost of use is cheaper when compared to buying a new electric machine as a replacement. The most common damage is in the windings of the electric machine. The windings are long conductor wires wrapped around the stator (the stationary part). This winding is where the rotating electric field will be generated which will affect the conductors in the rotor (the rotating part) so that it can rotate. This winding is the most important part of an electric machine or motor. When the electricity supply is disrupted, some people use a temporary power generator called a generator set (a generator that is driven by a combustion engine or what is called a genset). These two devices, motors and generators, are known as electrical machines. Therefore, the community service team felt the need to conduct training for several interested community members. This training, called Introduction to Electrical Machines, was conducted. By utilizing the skilled workforce already available within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Unsyiah, including lecturers, students, and the laboratory, the training is expected to increase the number of skilled personnel in electrical machine maintenance and repair. This will, in turn, increase budget savings in the use of electric motors within the community.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in rural areas face serious challenges regarding limited market access due to low digital literacy and minimal utilization of information technology as a marketing instrument. This community service activity aims to assist MSME actors in Lopok Village, Lape District, Sumbawa Regency, in implementing social media-based digital marketing strategies to enhance their competitiveness in the digital economy era. The implementation method employs a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach encompassing three stages: pre-implementation (needs assessment and problem mapping), implementation (workshops and practical training), and evaluation (measurement of outcomes and follow-up actions). The activity was conducted on February 11, 2026, from 08:00 to 16:00 Central Indonesia Time (WITA) at the Lopok Village Hall and was attended by 25 MSME actors from various sectors. The results of the activity demonstrated a significant improvement in digital competence, with all participants successfully creating optimized Instagram Business accounts, 84% capable of producing visual content independently using the Canva application, and 88% demonstrating a sound understanding of digital marketing concepts. This program proves that hands-on training integrated with local needs can accelerate the digital transformation of rural MSMEs effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

This community service program takes the form of counseling on post-flood recovery and strengthening of children's education in Kuala Simpang, specifically through the "Sang Juara" tutoring program through the Education, Law, Sharia, and Economics (ELSE) approach on December 24, 2025. This Community Service Program (PKM) was implemented according to the established plan and is a concrete demonstration of the realization of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, as mandated by the government to higher education institutions. Abstract

Entrepreneurs are people who carry out entrepreneurial activities characterized by being good at seeing opportunities and talented at recognizing new services or products, determining how to do business, compiling business needs, being able to carry out operational management. Currently, a business that provides an open opportunity to be used as an initial business for young people is opening a motorcycle repair shop. The motorcycle repair service business is a small business that is run for the first step of doing business in increasing income for daily living needs. Empowering male teenagers to open a business as a form of new entrepreneurship is needed with the aim of increasing the income of people engaged in small-scale business activities, especially in order to obtain additional income. The youth group in the Baruna housing complex, Bukit Datuk Village, is a group consisting of local youth located on Jalan Baruna I, II, and III in the Baruna Navigation Complex housing in Dumai City. The method of implementing activities is carried out with an approach that prioritizes the results of joint formulation according to the needs in organizing the empowerment program being carried out. This activity produces a motorcycle repair business that has the potential to increase the income of these teenagers so that they have entrepreneurial skills and become productive youth

Abstract

  Breast milk engorgement is a common problem experienced by postpartum mothers, particularly during the early puerperium period, and may lead to complications such as mastitis, decreased milk production, and ineffective breastfeeding if not properly managed. This community service activity aimed to improve maternal knowledge and skills in managing breast milk engorgement through comprehensive midwifery care. The activity was conducted using the Varney midwifery management approach, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The subject of the activity was a postpartum mother on day three with breast engorgement. Interventions included health education about breast engorgement, demonstration of correct breastfeeding techniques, breast care education, warm compresses before breastfeeding, cold compresses after breastfeeding, breast massage, and encouraging frequent breastfeeding every two hours. Monitoring was conducted for two days to evaluate maternal condition and breastfeeding effectiveness. The results showed measurable improvements, including reduced breast pain, decreased breast tension, smoother milk flow, and increased breastfeeding frequency from 3–4 times per day to 8–10 times per day. Additionally, the mother was able to demonstrate correct breastfeeding techniques independently, and no complications such as mastitis were observed. These findings indicate that individualized education combined with practical demonstrations effectively improves maternal skills and resolves breast engorgement. The implementation of comprehensive midwifery care using the Varney management approach proved effective in preventing complications and improving breastfeeding outcomes in postpartum mothers.
