Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted to demonstrate the role of banana leaves in the Dole-dole tradition among the community of Kadolomoko Village, Baubau City. The program was implemented by demonstrating how banana leaves—which grow abundantly in the vicinity of Kadolomoko Village—are used in the Dole-dole tradition, a life-cycle ceremony for the Buton people. The demonstration process involved the following stages: collecting the leaves, sorting those suitable for use in the ritual ceremony, and selecting the leaves to be used in the Dole-dole phase. The results of the PKM indicate that banana leaves are known to serve three primary functions for the Kadolomoko community: (1) as a mat for the baby during the swaddling ceremony, anointed with coconut oil, turmeric, and lime as a symbol of protection; (2) as a wrapper for ritual food (saba), a traditional Buton dish symbolizing patience and tranquility; and (3) as a cover for the poluka (copper pot) containing symbolic foods including eggs, glutinous rice, cassava, taro, bananas, and fish. The use of banana leaves reflects the collective cognitive knowledge system of the Buton community, which connects people, nature, and cultural traditions that have been preserved from generation to generation. Bhisa Bhawine, as the lead figure alongside a team of faculty and students in this PKM project, demonstrated the use of banana leaves to participants whose children follow the dole-dole tradition, helping them understand that the leaves serve not merely as a food flavoring, an ingredient in cake-making, or for preparing meat, but as a central element in the dole-dole tradition for children’s health and the observance of the life cycle rituals of the Buton people.

Abstract

Nipa Village, located in Ambalawi District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, has strong local economic potential from fisheries and agriculture, including tuna, torani fish, corn, shallots, coconut, and rice. However, the potential of these commodities has not been fully optimized because most products are still sold in raw form, while micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) face limitations in product innovation, packaging, business management, and digital marketing. This community service program was designed as an MSME incubation activity to assist local business actors in transforming local resources into value-added products. The incubation process included needs assessment, entrepreneurial motivation, product diversification training, packaging innovation, business management assistance, digital marketing training, and monitoring and evaluation. The products developed through the program included tuna floss, tuna dim sum, tuna chili sauce, chocolate corn pudding, dried torani fish, fried shallots, virgin coconut oil, and packaged rice. The results indicate that MSME incubation strengthened participants' knowledge, production skills, packaging awareness, and readiness to market products both offline and online. This program demonstrates that village-based MSME incubation can become a strategic approach to improving household income and supporting sustainable local economic development in Nipa Village, Ambalawi District.

Abstract

Abstract

Plastic waste, particularly used plastic bottles, has become one of the environmental issues that requires productive and sustainable solutions. This community service activity aimed to enhance students' creativity through training on transforming used plastic bottles into flower vase crafts with economic value. The method employed was project-based learning, which actively involved participants in every stage of the production process, including material preparation, bottle cutting, bottle assembly, yarn wrapping, and finishing. Data were collected through observation and documentation during the implementation of the activity. The results showed that participants were able to create various attractive and creative flower vase designs according to their individual ideas and creativity. In addition, the activity improved participants’ understanding of plastic waste management, handicraft-making skills, and awareness of the importance of recycling in daily life. The products produced possess functional, aesthetic, and economic values and have the potential to be developed into creative business products with relatively low production costs. Therefore, training on the utilization of used plastic bottles as flower vase crafts can serve as an effective alternative activity to foster students' creativity while supporting environmental conservation efforts and the development of the creative economy.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower students of the Physical Education Study Program, FKIP, Indonesian National Islamic University (UNIKI) Class of 2025 through traditional sports games held in the Jangka Sea area, Bireuen Regency. This program is motivated by the low utilization of traditional sports games as a medium for learning and character development of students, as well as the less than optimal use of the open natural environment as a means of contextual learning. The method used is Participatory Action Learning (PAL) which actively involves students through the stages of preparation, provision, implementation of the game, as well as evaluation and reflection. The games implemented include beach tug of war, team clogs, and obstacles. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of the activity show that the level of participant attendance reached 95%, active student participation was 90%, an increase in understanding of traditional sports by 88%, and the level of participant satisfaction reached 92%. In addition, the ability of student cooperation and sportsmanship is in the good category. This activity provides meaningful learning experiences through an experiential learning approach, enhancing social, communication, and leadership skills, as well as raising students' awareness of the importance of preserving traditional sports as a local cultural heritage. Therefore, traditional sports games can be an effective alternative model for empowering Physical Education students, integrating aspects of education, sports, culture, and character building

Abstract

The digital transformation of tax administration in Indonesia through the implementation of Coretax necessitates improved tax literacy among the public, particularly Generation Z, a productive age group that is highly familiar with digital technologies. However, Generation Z's proximity to technology does not necessarily correspond to an adequate understanding of tax obligations, tax administration procedures, and the utilization of digital tax services. This community engagement program aims to enhance Generation Z's understanding of taxation through Coretax socialization using an educational and participatory approach. The socialization materials covered fundamental taxation concepts, the role of taxation in national development, taxpayers' rights and obligations, an introduction to Coretax, and the workflow of digital tax administration services. The results indicate an improvement in participants' understanding of tax functions, the importance of tax compliance, and the benefits of Coretax as a digital tax administration platform. This initiative highlights the importance of continuously developing technology-based tax education programs to ensure that Generation Z not only becomes active digital technology users but also evolves into tax-aware, compliant, and responsible future taxpayers.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out collaboratively by the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa, from February 16 to February 21, 2026. The program targeted 30 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kecamatan Sumbawa, Sumbawa Regency. The program aimed to optimize local economic potential through product innovation capacity-building and strengthening of inter-business partnerships. Participants were assessed using a pretest-posttest design to measure the effectiveness of the educational interventions. Pretest results revealed a mean knowledge score of 45.8 (out of 100) across all participants, indicating a significant gap in business management literacy. Following structured education and direct mentoring over five days, the posttest yielded a mean score of 79.3, reflecting an average improvement of 33.5 points or a gain percentage of 73.1%. The results confirmed that the combined approach of product innovation training and business partnership development significantly enhanced MSMEs' competitiveness and sustainability. MSMEs successfully developed stronger product identities, expanded market reach through digital platforms and collaborative distribution networks, and demonstrated improved confidence in applying digital marketing tools. This program concludes that integrated, evidence-based community service interventions combining product innovation, partnership management, and measured capacity building are essential strategies for strengthening the local economic ecosystem in the digital era.
