Al-Arba’in al-Nawawiyah is recognized as one of the most celebrated collections of hadith in the Islamic scholarly tradition. Compiled by Imam al-Nawawi, this work brings together forty-two carefully selected authentic sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), encompassing the essential pillars of Islamic teachings including theology (aqidah), worship (ibadah), jurisprudence (fiqh), ethics (akhlaq), and social interactions (mu'amalah). Due to its concise yet comprehensive content, this compilation has served as a foundational reference in Islamic education across the Muslim world. Among the core themes explored in this collection is the concept of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar the imperative to promote good and prevent wrongdoing. This principle is not limited to personal piety but plays a vital role in shaping a morally conscious and socially cohesive community. The aim of this study is to examine how this concept is presented in Al-Arba’in al-Nawawiyah and interpreted across generations through numerous sharh (commentaries) by classical and contemporary scholars. Adopting a qualitative-descriptive approach through textual analysis, this study investigates more than fifty-one commentarial works on Al-Arba’in al-Nawawiyah. The analysis focuses on hadiths directly related to amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, with particular attention to how scholars employ both linguistic (lughawi) and legal (fiqhi) frameworks using analytical (tahlili) and general (ijmali) methods to extract meaning and explore social implications. Findings reveal that linguistic and legal interpretations in these commentaries enrich the understanding of the relevant hadiths and underscore the broader societal function of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar. Rather than a mere moral exhortation, the principle emerges as a strategic tool for fostering collective responsibility, preserving ethical order, and nurturing a just and compassionate society. It thus stands not only as a religious obligation but as a cornerstone of Islamic social ethics.

This study explores the transformation of agricultural culture in the Lamteuba community from a socio-historical perspective, with particular emphasis on the shift from cannabis cultivation to turmeric farming. The primary objective is to identify the driving factors behind this agricultural transition, the challenges encountered during the process, and the resulting social and cultural impacts. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that this shift in agricultural practice was influenced by multiple factors, including adverse experiences stemming from law enforcement actions, rising individual and collective awareness, family influence, government and local authority-led socialization efforts, and the relative ease of cultivating turmeric. The community faced several challenges, such as restoring the village’s reputation, maintaining crop quality, coping with unpredictable environmental conditions, and acquiring knowledge on turmeric cultivation. The transition has had a positive impact, marked by improved social stability, enhanced household economic sustainability, and renewed hope for a future free from the negative stigma that once plagued the village. Thus, this agricultural shift reflects not only a change in commodity production but also a broader transformation in the identity and social structure of the Lamteuba community

This study aims to analyze the Islamic moral educational values contained in the film The Kite Runner, directed by Marc Forster and adapted from Khaled Hosseini’s novel. Employing a qualitative methodology combining library research and semiotic analysis, this research investigates key scenes, dialogues, and narratives within the film to identify and interpret moral values categorized into ethics toward God, self, and others. The findings reveal the film’s vivid portrayal of essential Islamic values such as monotheism (tauhid), trust in God (tawakkal), remembrance of God (dzikrullah), honesty (shiddiq), self-respect (iffah), patience (sabr), tolerance (tasamuh), compassion (rahmah), respect (ihtiram), and justice (adl). These values are embodied in the emotional and spiritual journeys of the characters, reflecting complex processes of moral and character development. The study underscores the film’s potential as a compelling audiovisual medium to foster ethical awareness and spiritual growth among learners. It contributes to expanding the repertoire of educational media that support character building within Islamic educational frameworks and offers valuable insights into the integration of global cinematic narratives in local moral education practices.

This study aims to examine the construction of gender identity and roles, as well as the practice of socializing gender equality values by teachers in three Integrated Islamic Kindergartens (TKIT) in Banda Aceh. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with teachers at TKIT Al-Fatih, Permata Sunnah, and Khalifah 3. The findings reveal that teachers adopt thematic and contextual approaches to introduce gender identity and encourage cross-gender interactions through play, discussions, and exemplary behavior. The pedagogical practices reflect transformative efforts toward inclusive education responsive to equality. However, subtle biases in communication patterns indicate the need to strengthen gender literacy among educators. These findings confirm that Islamic educational institutions can serve as strategic spaces to instill gender equality values through reflective, critical, and contextual approaches.

This study aims to examine the influence of online gaming intensity on the social skills of fourth-grade students at SD Inpres Tonggorisa, a public elementary school in a semi-urban area characterized by limited digital literacy. Employing a quantitative approach with a correlational design, data were collected from 30 students using a structured questionnaire that measured the frequency of online gaming and social skills indicators based on the Social Skills Rating System (SSRS). The results of linear regression analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between the two variables. Students with higher gaming intensity demonstrated lower levels of cooperation, self-control, and communication. These findings support Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development and highlight the urgent need for collaboration between schools and families to foster adaptive digital literacy. The study contributes to the limited body of research on digital behavior in non-urban settings and underscores the importance of implementing context-based character education strategies in the digital era.

This article explores the pivotal role of ulama dayah—traditional Islamic scholars—in shaping the discourse and practice of tolerance and pluralism in Aceh, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach that integrates literature review, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews with prominent ulama dayah and members of the Aceh Ulema Consultative Assembly (MPU), the study examines how these scholars conceptualize and enact tolerance in a society marked by both strong Islamic identity and growing diversity. The findings reveal that ulama dayah interpret tolerance as an Islamic principle grounded in the Shafi‘i tradition, emphasizing respect for difference while maintaining doctrinal boundaries. Their strategies in managing intra-Muslim diversity and interfaith relations include persuasive guidance, conflict mediation, educational outreach, and institutional collaboration through the MPU. The influence of ulama dayah extends beyond ritual matters to shaping communal norms and public policy, making them key agents in sustaining social cohesion. The study concludes that the Acehnese experience demonstrates the importance of culturally embedded religious authority in negotiating pluralism, and highlights the ongoing challenges and opportunities for adaptive leadership in an increasingly complex society.

This study examines the strategic use of Instagram by the Center for Spirituality and Religious Moderation (PKMB) at UIN Ar-Raniry in promoting religious moderation among Indonesian youth. Employing a qualitative content analysis approach, the research analyzes all posts, stories, and interactive features published on the PKMB Instagram account over a six-month period, supplemented by comparative insights from other prominent moderation-focused accounts (@moderasi_beragama and @mubadalah.id). The findings reveal that PKMB employs a diverse range of content—including educational infographics, inspirational quotes from religious leaders, short videos, and interactive features—to communicate messages of tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and the rejection of extremism. Audience engagement patterns indicate widespread support for these messages, particularly when content is visually appealing, relatable, and accompanied by opportunities for direct participation. However, some critical responses highlight ongoing challenges related to skepticism and the negotiation of religious identity in digital spaces. The study concludes that youth-centered, dialogic, and visually dynamic strategies are especially effective in fostering digital engagement and internalizing values of moderation. These insights provide practical recommendations for educators and policymakers seeking to cultivate a more inclusive and harmonious society through digital religious outreach.

This study explores the social construction of spinsterhood among the Pekal Tribe, who predominantly inhabit Napal Putih in North Bengkulu Regency. The research investigates the socio-cultural meanings attached to unmarried women of a certain age and their implications for women's social status and mental well-being in the community. Utilizing a qualitative approach and a case study method, the study involved five Pekalese women—both married and unmarried—as primary informants. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, and validated using source triangulation. The analysis followed the Miles and Huberman framework, involving data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that being labeled a spinster is associated with negative connotations in Pekal society, driven by patriarchal culture, limited educational awareness, economic hardship, and strong societal expectations that women marry before the age of 25. These factors collectively shape a perception that unmarried women are socially undesirable. Applying Berger and Luckmann’s Social Construction Theory, the study illustrates how societal norms are formed through externalization, objectification, and internalization, institutionalizing the stigma surrounding spinsterhood. As a result, the concept evolves into a socially constructed label that significantly influences women's opportunities, autonomy, and psychological health within the Pekal community.

This study explores religious tolerance between the Chinese-Indonesian and Muslim communities in Keude Siblah Village, Southwest Aceh. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research draws on in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that religious tolerance in this village is a lived reality, visible in shared participation in village activities, mutual respect for religious holidays, and inclusive social solidarity. Rather than stemming from formal regulations, this tolerance has evolved through long-standing symbolic interactions rooted in local history and culture. Local institutions—including the village government, customary councils, religious leaders, and women’s groups—play essential roles in sustaining social harmony. However, minority religious expressions remain culturally constrained, often practiced in private. The main challenges include limited structural representation for the Chinese community and increasing intolerance among youth influenced by digital media. The study concludes that local religious tolerance is a negotiated social construct that requires structural support to be sustained. The findings highlight the need to integrate multicultural values into village policies and local education.

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has given rise to the phenomenon of digisexuality—sexual preferences and behaviors mediated by digital devices, either as a supplement to or replacement for human relationships. This new reality poses significant challenges to Islamic sexual ethics, especially concerning the preservation of moral values, human dignity, and family stability. This study offers a critical analysis of digisexuality through the lens of hadith literature, employing a qualitative approach rooted in library research. The primary sources include prophetic traditions related to sexual conduct, as well as contemporary literature on human-technology interactions and Muslim scholarly responses to digital sexual issues. The findings reveal that fundamental prophetic teachings—such as the encouragement of marriage, prohibition of celibacy (tabattul), and self-restraint through fasting—remain highly relevant in guiding sexual behavior amid digital realities. Modern scholars increasingly emphasize the maqasid shariah framework, enabling Islamic ethics to be more adaptive in addressing socio-technological transformations. This study recommends enhanced digital literacy education, multidisciplinary collaboration, and renewed engagement with classical sources, ensuring that Islamic sexual ethics can continue to serve as a moral compass in the digital era. These insights offer a foundation for further policy development and empirical research in Islamic ethics and digital society.
