Abstract

Curug Embun is a well-known natural tourist destination in Pagaralam City due to its pristine natural beauty and towering waterfall. However, in recent years, this destination has experienced a significant decline in visitors. This study aims to identify the factors causing the decline in visitor interest and formulate a sustainable development strategy to regain its popularity. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The results indicate that factors such as minimal supporting facilities, inadequate access, lack of promotion, limited government involvement, and weather influences are the main causes of the decline in tourist visits. This study concludes that the management of the Curug Embun tourist destination needs to be improved through facility improvements, digital promotion, and collaboration between the government, managers, and the local community so that this tourist attraction can regain its competitiveness with other destinations.

Abstract

Social media is currently the primary channel for disseminating tourism information. Optimal media use is not only a promotional tool but also a form of PR communication in building a destination's image. This study analyzes the use of social media as a promotional tool for public relations (PR) at Parai Tenggiri Beach, Bangka Islands. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through observation and interviews at Parai Tenggiri Beach to determine the optimization of social media. The results show that the use of social media is still not optimal due to the lack of digital communication strategies, two-way interactions between managers and tourists, and the minimal use of persuasive communication techniques. The gap between the visual potential and the public relations promotion used needs to be evaluated to strengthen the role of PR in creating creative and sustainable digital communication.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven the emergence of new business opportunities through the utilization of creative video content on social media. This study aims to analyze creative video content as a form of digital entrepreneurship in promoting tourism in Bangka, as well as to identify opportunities, constraints, and its impact on tourists' visitation interest. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection conducted through in-depth interviews with content creators and tourists, observations on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, and simple documentation. Research by Paris et al. (2025) proves that TikTok significantly influences visit intention, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.655, meaning 65.5% of variation in tourist visit intention is explained by social media content. However, utilization of these opportunities is not yet optimal due to constraints such as inconsistent uploads, limited reach, production fatigue, and minimal support from the government and tourism communities. This study concludes that creative content has potential as a digital-based business that simultaneously supports tourism promotion in Bangka, and needs to be strengthened through synergy among stakeholders.

Abstract

The growth of the tourism sector in Bangka has increased the demand for accommodations, including community-based homestays. This study aims to analyze the role of digital technology in enhancing the competitiveness of homestays, using Homestay Hidayatullah in Pangkalpinang City as a case study. The methodology employed is descriptivequalitative, utilizing direct observation, in-depth interviews, and the collection of visitor data. The results indicate that the use of digital technology remains limited to conventional promotion and manual administration, although the homestay’s occupancy rate is satisfactory, particularly during weekends and holiday seasons, driven by service quality and customer trust. Digital technology holds the potential to improve marketing, streamline the reservation process, enhance operational efficiency, and expand market reach. Key barriers include limited human resources, low digitalliteracy, a lack of supporting facilities, and a traditional mindset among managers. Therefore, the use of digital technology is a crucial strategy for enhancing the competitiveness of homestays in Bangka and supporting business sustainability in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran generasi muda dalam menjaga identitas budaya di Sidoarjo di tengah arus globalisasi dan perkembangan teknologi digital. Globalisasi membawa dampak signifikan terhadap pola pikir dan gaya hidup generasi muda, sehingga berpotensi menggeser nilai-nilai budaya lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi terhadap generasi muda berusia 15–25 tahun yang aktif dalam kegiatan budaya, serta tokoh masyarakat dan pelaku seni sebagai informan pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa generasi muda memiliki kesadaran yang cukup baik terhadap pentingnya pelestarian budaya daerah. Bentuk peran yang dilakukan antara lain partisipasi dalam kegiatan seni tradisional, keterlibatan dalam sanggar dan komunitas budaya, serta pemanfaatan media sosial untuk mempromosikan tradisi dan kearifan lokal. Namun demikian, terdapat tantangan berupa pengaruh budaya populer asing dan kurangnya pemahaman mendalam terhadap makna filosofis budaya. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sinergi antara keluarga, sekolah, dan pemerintah daerah untuk memperkuat pendidikan berbasis kearifan lokal. Generasi muda memiliki potensi besar sebagai agen pelestari budaya apabila didukung secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Overtourism has emerged as a highly debated phenomenon in tourism studies, particularly within urban tourism dynamics. It occurs when the negative impacts of tourism begin to outweigh its benefits for a destination. Driven by a scarcity of research examining its formation, impacts, and relationship with sustainability, this study maps the literature development on urban overtourism using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were collected from the Scopus database (2015–2025). Following rigorous selection, 167 eligible articles were extracted and analyzed using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny to map research trends and keyword co-occurrence networks. The bibliometric analysis identified four main thematic clusters: shifts in tourist motivations, urban tourism governance, structural socio-economic impacts, and tourism sustainability. This study concludes that although current overtourism research is predominantly Eurocentric, such studies remain vital for fostering adaptive urban governance to mitigate negative impacts and ensure the overall sustainability of urban tourism.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a conceptual model for a silent luxury-themed wellness tourism product in a mangrove ecotourism destination through sensory-based forest bathing. The study is grounded in the growth of the global wellness economy, Indonesia's quality tourism agenda, and previous findings indicating that Munjang Mangrove Ecotourism offers a suitable landscape for forest bathing. The method combines a guided narrative literature review examining numerous journal articles, industry reports, and policy documents on wellness tourism and forest bathing, analysis of secondary data from global and national market reports, and product design synthesis. The results indicate that silent luxury can differentiate the product by offering silence, digital pauses, sensory depth, limited group size, and psychological restoration rather than expensive physical facilities. The novelty lies in integrating forest bathing, five-sense experience design, evidence-based wellness indicators, and low-impact ecotourism governance. Wellness claims are framed as restorative experiences that require validation through pilot projects, pre-post surveys, and willingness-to-pay studies.
