Abstract

Family planning is a program that is stigmatized as a woman's responsibility. However, with the increasing number of family planning failures in various regions, the government through the BKKBN has introduced contraception that can be used by men. Male contraceptive options so far include condoms and vasectomies. In recent years, the government has accelerated the increase in male birth control acceptors through various methods, one of which is by subsidizing vasectomy costs and receiving prizes. But unfortunately, these efforts have not resulted in significant improvements. This research focuses on the reasons why men's participation as family planning acceptors is still low even though various methods have been implemented. The cause is referred to in this article as 'masculine panic'. This research is an exploration of conceptualization based on revealing courageous news to uncover masculine fears. It is hoped that this concept exploration will be able to provide an alternative and in-depth explanation of the various technical strategy failures that have been implemented by the government. Abstract

Women's participation in various student organizations is a social phenomenon that embodies gender equality in the campus environment. Traditionally, organizational activities have been dominated by men, but this situation has gradually changed with the growing representation of women in various leadership roles. Higher education institutions, as educational bodies, play a strategic role in shaping students' social practices, particularly female students who are active in organizations. The cultural differences between the student organizations of Sociology at Unesa and UTM present an interesting factor to explore how the social practices of female organizers are formed and interpreted. Using a qualitative approach, the research was conducted through in-depth interviews with female students who are members of student organizations from the Sociology program to obtain accurate data and information. This study aims to explore gender equality among women in the campus organizational scope of two different institutions. It is expected that this research will provide practical and theoretical benefits to readers and the public. Keywords: Women, Organizational, Organization, Student Organizations.

Abstract

Gender equality remains an issue in Indonesia due to the deeply rooted patriarchal culture in society. Online media, as a form of digital communication, has the potential to be a platform for voicing various issues related to gender equality. However, online media often continues to portray women as objects of gender-biased discourse. This study aims to analyze strategies that online media can adopt to build gender-equal communication. The research employs a qualitative method through a literature review. Data analysis is conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach with an interactive model. The findings indicate that, although efforts have been made to establish more inclusive gender-equal communication, gender bias is still found in some content and narratives presented by online media. Strategies that online media can adopt in building gender-equal communication include presenting content and narratives that do not marginalize women as mere objects, strengthening digital literacy through content and discussion spaces in online media, and granting women the freedom to voice gender equality through digital platforms. Abstract

Early marriage is still a significant social issue in Sumba, influenced by economic factors, culture and lack of access to education. This practice has a negative impact on women's health, education and economic independence. This research aims to analyze the role of education in preventing early marriage and increasing women's independence in Sumba. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive approach, referring to secondary sources such as government reports, statistical data, academic journals, and previous studies related to the issue of early marriage and education. The results show that education has a crucial role in raising awareness of women's rights, opening up economic opportunities, and changing social norms that support the practice of early marriage. Human Capital Theory, Feminist Theory, and Modernization Theory reinforce that education is an investment that can improve individual and community welfare. The conclusion of this study confirms that increasing access to education for women in Sumba is a strategic step in preventing early marriage and promoting women's emancipation. Therefore, policies that focus on educational equity and changing people's mindsets need to be strengthened to create a more supportive environment for the future of women in Sumba. Abstract

The migration of female migrant workers (TKW) has had complex implications for family structure, caregiving systems, and the identity of left-behind children. This study explores the dual role of TKW as both breadwinners and educators of their children, as well as its impact on children's identity formation. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research analyzes previous studies on female migrant workers and long-distance caregiving strategies. The findings reveal that children from migrant families experience changes in intergenerational family relationships and face challenges in developing their social, cultural, and emotional identities. Although left-behind children exhibit higher resilience levels than those from non-migrant households, they often experience a caregiving deficit and a decline in psychological well-being. Additionally, gender-based caregiving patterns have undergone transformation due to mothers assuming the primary breadwinner role. This study highlights the importance of incorporating children's perspectives into migration policies and family welfare programs to create a more sustainable migration strategy. Keywords: Female Migrant Workers, Long-Distance Caregiving, Child Identity, Dual Roles, Transnational Families.

Abstract

Life in densely populated residential areas located in the heart of a metropolitan city such as Surabaya City, is highly dependent on work income outside the home. While income growth is much slower than development and has destroyed the use value of the environment, it is inevitable. Finally, the phenomenon of modernized poverty becomes unavoidable. The condition becomes even more discriminatory when it is pointed out that most of the poor household heads living in this area are women. This paper aims to explain the social injustice practices of women heads of poor households in urban areas by using class analysis, cultural analysis, gender analysis, and critical analysis that aims to provide the meanings, conceptions, ideologies, and practices that are happening in female heads of poor households in urban areas. The reality of social injustice experienced by women heads of poor households is an issue that cannot be covered up anymore about future social conditions. Theoretical analysis born from this fact has sparked a variety of critical thinking. First, class analysis tries to understand the form of economic injustice and its relation to the broader social system. The process of industrialization and urbanization has contributed to the instability of urban society. Secondly, Gramsci's thought discusses ideology and culture and challenges both because they are considered tools and part of those who benefit from perpetuating injustice. Gramsci saw that this condition was born because there was an effort to maintain power by the ruling and capitalist classes, in the sense that it was not only limited to state authorities but all dominant groups in society, called hegemony. The third idea is supported by the critical theory of the Frankfurt school, which questions the methodology and epistemology of positivism as a source of injustice. What needs to be done is to fight the hegemony that demeans women, by deconstructing ideology. Keywords: Female Heads of Poor Households, Feminization of Poverty, Social Injustice.
