Abstract

Abstract. The Plants Cemba (Acacia pennata) included in family Leguminoceae, which is typical plant in Enrekang, South Sulawesi. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of methanol extract of cemba leaves to decrease blood glucose levels in mices male ICR strain induced by alloxan. The leaves were extracted using 96% methanol by maceration method. This study is a randomized complete design (RAL), which contains of 5 treatments and 5 replicates. The extract was dissolved using Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) 0.5% and given orally in mices that had been previously injected by alloxan 120 mg/kg intraperitoneally. The awarding of the extract given different doses i.e., 125, 250 and 500 mg/kg. The data were Analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) using SPSS 2.0 Program and continued by Duncan test (α 0:05), as drugs control using glibenclamide 5 mg / kg whereas the normal control using CMC 0.5%. The results showed that 250 mg/kg dose of the extract had a most effective to decrease blood glucose levels during 14 days of given cemba leaves extract. These results were significantly different with negatif control (105.6 mg/dl) and positif control (105.80 mg/dl), as well as groups of mice that were given the cemba leaves extract 150 and 500 mg/kg. Extract of cemba leaves shows the effect of the decrease blood glucose levels in mices male.Keywords: cemba leaves extract, family Leguminoceae, Enrekang.

Abstract

NPV is one of the biological insecticides that kill the target by infecting their cells including hemocytes. Hemocytes play a key role on defense mechanism against pathogens like NPV. This defense mechanism may cause the insect to become more tolerant as well as to chemical insecticides. The tolerances of insect to NPV could be induced by humoral immune system (HIS). The HIS can be recorded by watch prophenoloxidase (PPO) activity or the presence of antibacterial compound (AC). Based on that assumption, this research was conducted to observe the alteration of PPO and AC due to sublethal infection of HaNPV (Helicoverpa armigera nuclear polyhedrosis viruses) on Helicoverpa armigera larvae and their offspring. PPO was detected as PO and measured spectrometrically on microplate-reader. Protein concentration was measured based on the color which appears due to protein-CBG (PO and Bradford reagent) bond at 570 nm. Protein concentration was calibrated with BSA. The occurrence of antibacterial activity was tested using modified Hoffman method. Inhibition zones were used to measure the antibacterial activity from E. coli (Gram negative) and B. cereus (Gram positive). Immune responses were observed on the fifth instar Helicoverpa armigera after 24 hpi by HaNPV (NPV-P) and their offspring (NPV-F1 and NPV-F2). Also, immune response on control larvae (K-P) were monitored and their filial (K-F1 and K-F2). The titer of PO enzyme were not significantly different for each generation. There was no inhibition zone on antibacterial activity test in every generation on NPV-P and K-P larvae.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakanpenelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) yang bertujuan menghasilkan media yang memiliki tingkat validitas tinggi serta menarik bagi siswa. Prosedur penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada model pengembangan yang dikemukakan oleh Hanaffin and Peck yang terdiri dari tiga tahap kegiatan, yakniAnalysis, Design, dan Implamentation. Hasil validasi oleh tim ahli menunjukkan media pembelajaran biologi berbasis Macromedia Flash pada konsep sistem reproduksi manusia memiliki tingkat validasi yang sangat tinggi dengan rata-rata total nilai validasi (Va) = 4,6 (sangat valid). Hasil analisis data yang diperoleh pada kegiatan ujicoba terbatas menunjukkan  ketertarikan siswa terhadap media dengan persentase respon 43,1% siswa menilai sangat baik, 46,7% siswa menilai baik, 10,2% siswa menilai cukup baik, 0% siswa memilih kurang baik, dan 0% siswa memilih tidak baik. Sebagai kesimpulan Media Pembelajaran Biologi Berbasis Macromedia Flash dapat dijadikan sebuah media pembelajaran yang valid serta dapat menarik minat siswa.

Abstract

This research have as a purpose to know the influence VCO to cholesterol content in hare blood rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) masculine. Variable in this research that is gift VCO as free variable and cholesterol content in hare blood (O. Cuniculus) as variable trussed. This research represent the experiment research by using complete random device ( RAL) consisted of  four treatment level namely A0 as control ( gift water), A1 ( gift VCO during 7 days ( ml / kg), A2 ( gift VCO during 14 days ( ml /kg)) and A3 ( gift VCO  during 21 days ( ml / kg). Parameter observed is cholesterol content of hare blood. Result of research showed that gift VCO statistically do not have an effect on the reality to degradation of cholesterol content of hare blood (O. cuniculus ) masculine.   Keywords : Influence VCO, cholesterol content of hare blood (Oryctolagus cuniculus) masculine.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian Skletonema costatum sebagai pakan alami terhadap sintasan (tingkat kelulushidupan) Artemia salina. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data hasil sintasan dan kualitas air. Analisa statistik yang dilakukan adalah analisa ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNJ/Tukey untuk mengetahui perlakuan yang memberikan pengaruh  yang terbaik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan terbaik adalah perlakuan D dengan rata-rata hasil sintasannya yaitu 53%. Berdasarkan suhu, salinitas dan pH, kualitas air selama penelitian masih dalam kisaran yang layak untuk kehidupan Artemia salina kualitas air selama penelitian masih dalam kisaran yang layak untuk kehidupan Artemia salina. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pakan Skeletonema costatum dengan kepadatan 4,5 x 106 sel/L/hari mempengaruhi sintasan Artemia salina.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini kami mengevaluasi antioksidan dan aktivitas antibakteri biji Swietenia mahagoni dengan menggunakan berbagai jenis pelarut. Ekstrak disaring untuk menguji aktivitas antioksidan radikal bebas scavenging 2,2- difenil -1-Pikril hydrazyl (DPPH). Total fenol juga telah ditentukan. Ekstrak metanol dari biji Swietenia mahagoni menunjukkan aktivitas DPPH tertinggi (60.89 %), bila dibandingkan dengan ekstrak  metanol 70 % (60,77 %), etanol 100 % (58,85 %), etanol 70 % (59.87 %) dan aseton 100% (46.54 %). Jumlah kandungan fenol ditentukan dengan teknik spektrofotometri, menggunakan reagen Folin-Ciocalteau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 100% memiliki kandungan fenolik yang lebih tinggi (67 mg/g sampel ) dibandingkan dengan jenis pelarut lain (etanol 70 %: 65 mg/g sampel, metanol 100 %: 63 mg/g sampel, metanol 70 %: 55 mg/g sampel , aseton 100%: 54 mg/g sampel). Aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Gram-positif (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus) dan bakteri Gram-negatif (E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) diuji berdasarkan zona penghambatan dengan metode difusi disk. Streptomisin sebagai antibakteri standar (kontrol positif). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa biji Swietenia mahagoni dengan ekstraksi pelarut metanol, etanol dan aseton memiliki efek penghambatan terhadap pertumbuhan Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa pada konsentrasi 100 mg/ml.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keanekaragaman dan pemanfaatan  Catharanthus roseus sebagai sumber belajar IPA SMP dan Biologi SMA. Ditemukan 10 kultivar/varietas tapak dara Catharanthus roseus yang dibedakan berdasarkan warna bunga, antara lain: varietas  rosea dan alba, kultivar Heatwave Burgundy, Heatwave Red, Heatwave Grape, Heatwave Peppermint, Cobra Peach, Cora Cascade Polka Dot, Sun Devil Extreme Blush, dan Mediteranean pink. 1 jenis tidak teridentifikasi.Keragaman varietas Catharanthus roseus tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber belajar yang menjembatani sains dan pendidikan, khususnya pada konsep klasifikasi makhluk hidup. Pendekatan pembelajaran yang relevan digunakan adalah pendekatan sains yang melibatkan lima aktivitas utama, yaitu (1) mengamati, (2) menanya, (3) mengumpulkan data, (4) mengasosiasi, dan (5) menyimpulkan sebagai wujud implementasi kurikulum 2013. Abstract

This experimental study aimed to analyze the toxicity of the Cassia alata L. leaves extract in Pomacea canaliculata L with the concentration of the extract as independent variable and the mortality of Pomacea as the dependent one. There were two steps in this study: introductory test and main test. Both of them were done to examine LC50 (lethal concentrate) and LT50 (lethal time) using the number of mortality and its velocity during 48 hour observation. Based on the introductory study, we chose concentrate of 2,5 %; 3%; 3,5%; 4%; and 4;5% of the leaves extract for the treatment groups. Control group were not given any extract. Every group of treatment consisted of 50 Pomacea and each treatment was done 5 times so that there were 1500 Pomacea used in this study. Probit analysis was used for this study result. I then be sown that Cassia alata L. leaves extract could cause mortality of Pomacea canaliculata L which occured from 4 hour after the start of the study. The LC50 was 4,290% of leaves extract after 16 hours after the application with regression  slope Y = 2,456 + 4,561X, and the LT50 was 29,834% with Y = 0,047 + 1,976X.

Abstract

Abstract. Bioflok is a microbial community consisting of bacteria, protozoa and zooplankton, as a shrimp feed supplement containing amino acids methionin, vitamins, minerals and enzymes that can help the process of digestion of feed on shrimp. Bioflux is a suspension contained in water consisting of microalgae, and bacteria that are potentially developed in the field of aquaculture that is as natural food because of high protein content as well as an alternative solution to the problem of cultivation waste. This study aims to find out how optimization of biofloc formation from Skeletonema sp., Nitzschia sp. and probiotic bacteria through the optimum salinity level used on the Walne medium. This research was conducted at Biology Laboratory of Makassar State University. This research was an experimental research using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications, ie treatment with pH 9, treatment with pH 8,5, treatment with pH 8, treatment with pH 7,5, treatment with pH 7 , pH 6.5 treatment, pH 6 treatment, and pH 5 treatment, on Walne medium using a combination of inoculant Skeletonema sp., Nitzschia sp. and probiotic bacteria. Parameters observed were biomass (dry weight) floc, floc volume, floc activity, temperature, pH, light intensity, and aeration rate. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued by Duncan test (α 0,05). The results showed that the treatment with pH 6.5 was the optimum salinity for biofloc formation shown by the highest floc biomass, the highest floc volume, and the highest floc activity with the floc volume indicator 0.01278 ml, dry weight (biomass) 0.00733 g / ml and floc activity 83.45 ml.Keywords: biofloc, ph, skeletonema sp., nitzschia sp., probiotic bacteria.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan strategi pembelajaran berpola Pemberdayaan Berpikir Melalui Pertanyaan (PBMP) dipadu Think Pair Share (TPS) dan strategi konvensional dalam memberdayakan sikap sosial siswa multietnis. Penelitian ini tergolong quasi experiment dengan rancangan pretest-postest nonequivalent control group design pola faktorial 2 x 5. Variabel bebas penelitian terdiri adalah strategi pembelajaran dan multietnis siswa. Variabel yang diukur adalah sikap sosial siswa. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara statistik dengan Anakova dibantu program SPSS versi 17.0 for windows. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran berpola PBMP dipadu TPS dan strategi konvensional memiliki perbedaan dalam memberdayakan sikap sosial siswa multietnis. Strategi pembelajaran berpola PBMP dipadu TPS berpengaruh terhadap sikap sosial siswa, akan tetapi strategi berpola PBMP dipadu TPS tidak memiliki peluang yang lebih besar dalam memberdayakan sikap sosial siswa multietnis dibandingkan dengan strategi konvensional.
