Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan uji fitokimia dan aktivitas antibakteri dari senyawa metabolit sekunder ekstrak metanol daun Rhizophora mucronata yang diperoleh dari Desa Lappa, Samataring, Kabupaten Sinjai Timur, Sulawesi Selatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam beberapa langkah, diantaranya proses maserasi, penguapan, uji fitokimia dan aktivitas antibakteri. Hasil penelitian uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung dalam ekstrak metanol daun Rhizophora mucronata berupa senyawa flavonoid dan alkaloid. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli yang dilakukan pada Diameter Daya Hambat (DDH) dengan konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Kimia dan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Negeri Makassar. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa DDH ekstrak metanol daun Rhizophora mucronata paling efektif menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus dan E. coli di 40% pada konsentrasi 60% karena memiliki DDH> 8 mm.

Abstract

Based on the high incidence and fatality of malaria, a comprehensive management to control the disease, including Anopheles larval control to remove the transmission path, is urgently required. Chemical insecticides used for this purpose is claimed to be less environmentally safe and potentially increase the mosquito resistance.  Thus, there is a need to use alternative insecticide. Some studies found that Bacillus sphaericus dan Bacillus thuringiensis israeli could effectively kill Anopheles larvae and has a low potency to increase resistency. Besides that, it is environmentally safe and does not affect non-target organisms. Therefore, the use of Bacillus spp as larvicides could be undertaken in malaria control programme especially in endemic areas.

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to know and analyze the plankton diversity and water quality of Batu Gosok Beach in three research locations: sand location, waste location and mangrove location. Population in this research is all plankton contained in coastal waters of rubbing stone and sample taken by Purposive Sampling method. The results of plankton research in three locations were Diversity (H`) of coastal location: 0.732, waste location: 0.71 and mangrove location 0.777. Index Domination of sand location: 0.24, waste location: 0.22 and mangrove location 0.21, Index Abundance of sand location: 1.99, waste location: 1.18, and mangrove location: 1.72, uniformity index of sand location: 0.66, waste location: 0.71 and mangrove location: 0.75. The quality of the coastal waters of Batu Gosok Beach is still good for the survival of plankton animals.Keywords: diversity, plankton, water

Abstract

Abstract.  This study investigated a natural acid-base indicator which is extracted from plants in Kupang city. There are 14 plants that potential as a source of natural indicator for acid base titration, i.e, Kol Ungu (Brassica oleracea Capitata Group), Turi Merah flower (Sesbania grandiflora L. Pers), Belimbing Wuluh flower (Averhoa bilimbi L), Kaktus Merah fruit (Opuntia vulgaris Mill), Ruelia flower (Ruellia simplex), Flamboyan flower (Delonix regia), bugenvil flower (Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd.), Bayam Merah leaves (Amaranthus tricolor L.) Jamblang fruit (Syzygium cumini L.), Murbey fruit (Morus alba L.), Pinang fruit (Areca catechu L.), Sirih fruit (Piper betle L.), Kunyit (Curcuma longa Linn), and Nanas Kerang leaves (Rhoeo discolor). Plants extract shows a sharp color change in acid and base solution. Promising results as a natural indicator also shown in acid base titration which is have similar equivalent point to synthetic indicator. We can use these natural indicators as an alternative to synthetic indicator because they are found to be simple, very useful, cheap, easy to extract, accurate, and eco-friendly. Abstract

Motivasi siswa adalah salah satu faktor yang berperan penting dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Empat aspek yang menjadi bagian penyusun motivasi adalah aspek attention, relevance, confidence, dan satisfaction. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian survei yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat motivasi siswa SMP di Kota Makassar berdasarkan empat faktor penyusunnya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada sembilan sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) dan sederajat di kota Makassar. Sampel penelitian diambil secara acak dengan jumlah seluruh sampel sebanyak 265 siswa. Instrumen yang dipergunakan adalah berupa angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa empat aspek motivasi yang diukur pada penelitian ini, yaitu aspek attention, relevance, confidence, dan satisfaction seluruhnya masih termasuk dalam kategori cukup baik.

Abstract

The research aimed to examine the effect of Zn+Fe supplementation on optimalizing the biomotoric ability. One field intervention research among of 40 of a 12-years old group of football players of Makassar Football School (MFS)-2000 in South Sulawesi Province had been conducted to figure out a possible mechanism specifically examined the discrapancies of the change in the increasing rate of biomotoric ability between the targeted and the placebo group. This study was designed with randomized double blind pretest-posttest. A full of 20 participants in group A (targeted group) was supple-mented by Zn+Fe for 6 months while other 20 in group B counterparts were given with placebo. All data related to biometric ability, nutrient supplementation, hemoglobin level as well as IGF-1 level were recorded before and after intervention. The result showed greater increasing in the level of Hb, IGF-1, biomotoric ability: muscle endurance (sit-up test), and aerobic endurance (bleep test) among the targeted group up  to 2.05%, 32,5%, 19.85% and 47.08% respectively, after supplemented by Zn+Fe for 6 months, compared to that number in the placebo group (0.61%; 15%; 5.11% and 11,66% respectively). Moreover, the result demonstrated a positive correlation between the level of Hb and the increasing of ability to perform sit-up (r= 0.361) as well as aerobic capacity (r= 0.325). Similar result found in correlation between IGF-1 and the increasing rate of ability to perform sit-up (r= 0.385) as well as aerobic capacity (r= 0.392). Conclusions, the increasing level of Hb and IGF-1 improved the increasing rate of, muscle endurance in sit-up test as well as aerobic endurance in bleep test. Therefore, giving Zn+Fe supplementation may improvement biomotoric ability in  12-years old group of football players.   Keywords: biomotoric  ability, Zn + Fe supplementation, nutrition feed, fitness tests

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan isolat bakteri penambat nitrogen yang diisolasi dari rhisosfer tanaman padi dan jagung asal Kabupaten Takalar dalam memproduksi zat pengatur tumbuh IAA dan pelarutan posfat. Isolasi bakteri penambat nitrogen dilakukan menggunakan medium selektif bebas nitrogen yaitu Ashby dan Burk’s. Koloni bakteri yang tumbuh dan menunjukkan perbedaan karakteristik dipilih kemudian dikarakterisasi secara fisiologi dan morfologi. Kemampuan menghasilkan IAA dari isolat bakteri dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode spectrophotometry pada panjang gelombang 535 nm. Uji kemampuan pelarutan posfat secara kuantitatif dilakukan pada medium Pikovskaya dengan membandingkan rasio antara diameter koloni dengan diameter zona bening yang terbentuk. Dari hasil isolasi bakteri diperoleh 20 isolat bakteri penambat nitrogen dimana 6 isolat diantaranya terdeteksi mampu memproduksi zat pengatur tumbuh IAA dengan konsentrasi antara 7.35-38.35 ppm. Dari 6 isolat yang mampu memproduksi zat pengatur tumbuh IAA, 2 isolat diantaranya terdeteksi mampu melarutkan posfat dengan rasio zona bening 1,7 cm-2,6 cm sedangkan empat isolat diantaranya tidak memiliki kemampuan dalam melarutkan posfat.

Abstract

One of the secondary metabolite, namely a sterol had been iosolated from the n-hexane extract of Phyllanthus niruri L leaves. This compound was obtained by isolation that consist of extaction, fractionation, purification, and identification. The identification covers the melting point test, thin layer chromatography and Liebermann-Burchard test. The research results show that the compound is white needle crystal with the malting point 120-122⁰C and positive with Lieberman-Burchard reagens that give blue-green coulor. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) yang mengacu pada pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran model 4D. Pengumpulan data dilakukan sebagaimana tahapan pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran model 4D yaitu Define adalah melakukan investigasi awal, Design adalah mendesain perangkat pembelajaran dan instrument penelitian, Develop adalah melakukan validasi dan revisi perangkat pembeljaran serta Disseminate adalah melakukan sosialisasi hasil pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah (i) Pengembangan perangakat pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri pada materi sistem ekskresi dilakukan dengan empat tahapan utama yaitu: tahap pendefinisian (define), tahap perancangan (design), tahap pengembangan (develop), dan tahap penyebaran (disseminate).  (ii) Perangkat pembelajaran biologi berbasis inkuiri pada materi sistem ekskresi yang dikembangkan terdiri atas RPP, BPD, LKPD, dan THB. Hasil validasi dan uji coba menunjukkan  bahwa perangkat pembelajaran tersebut memenuhi kriteria kevalidan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan. Kata kunci: Perangkat Pembelajaran Biologi, dan Berbasis Inkuiri.

Abstract

This study was an experiment that aims to determine the effect of boiling time on protein content of cowpea tempe. This research was conducted in a laboratory experiment of Biology, Makassar  State University and in Central Laboratory of the Ministry of Health Makassar, Indonesia. The sample used cowpea tempe, made using 100 grams cowpea and 0,2 grams of tempe yeast for each sample, and got treatment without boiling as a control and variety of boiling time treatment for 2 minutes, 4 minutes and 6 minutes. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replication. Determination of protein content by Kjeldahl method. The results showed that the effect of boiling time was very real (P˂0,05) for protein content, where the highest protein levels found in the treatment of boiling for 2 minutes (8,50). It was comparable with boiling for 4 minutes and 6 minutes, but did not different from the control. The lowest protein content was found in boiling treatment for 6 minutes (4,76). So it can be concluded that the longer time boiling, then lower protein content.
