Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the economic and tourism impacts of football events on local communities, aiming to synthesise empirical evidence, evaluate methodological approaches, and identify determinants of success or failure. Utilising the PRISMA framework, the study analysed 92 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2023 from databases including Scopus, Web of Science, and EBSCO host. Inclusion criteria prioritised empirical studies on international, regional, and domestic football events, while theoretical analyses and non-football sports events were excluded. Data extraction focused on variables such as event type, geographic context, and stakeholder governance, with quality assessment conducted via the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Thematic analysis revealed three key findings: (1) mega-events generate significant short-term economic gains (78% of studies), particularly in hospitality and transportation sectors, but long-term sustainability remains limited (34% of studies), often overshadowed by hidden costs like infrastructure debt; (2) stakeholder collaboration and inclusive governance enhance benefit distribution, as seen in Germany’s post-2006 World Cup tourism growth (+8% over five years); and (3) small-scale events demonstrate greater economic sustainability and community engagement compared to mega-events due to lower costs and localized participation. The study highlights disparities between developed and developing nations, where the latter experience higher short-term GDP growth (+15%) but face greater financial risks. These findings underscore the need for transparent cost-benefit frameworks, post-event audits, and prioritised investment in regional events. By integrating quantitative and qualitative insights, this review proposes a holistic model for optimising football events as tools for equitable and sustainable development.

Abstract

Enhancing student health and improving the quality of education are the core objectives of the School Health Program (UKS). However, its implementation continues to face several challenges, including inadequate facilities, limited student awareness of health, and low parental engagement. This study aims to evaluate the application of School-Based Management (MBS) in supporting the effectiveness of the UKS program. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was used. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis, involving school principals, physical education teachers (PJOK), and students as participants. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 software to explore relationships among variables. The findings reveal that the implementation of SBM within the UKS program has yet to be fully optimized. Schools struggle to provide adequate health facilities, develop student health cadres, and coordinate with community health centres (Puskesmas). Limited human resources and a lack of parental involvement also remain significant barriers. In addition, UKS policies in some schools are not yet systematically structured, leading to less effective implementation. Nevertheless, the UKS program holds strong potential to enhance the quality of health education. Ensuring greater effectiveness and sustainability requires more focused policies, adequate resource support, and strengthened collaboration with external health professionals.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of a structured underhand passing training program on the volleyball skills of Grade V students at Mawas State Elementary School. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, 60 students were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group (n = 30) that received specialized underhand passing training, and a control group (n = 30) that followed the standard physical education curriculum. Pretest and posttest evaluations were conducted using the Brumbach Forearm Pass Test. The pretest results showed similar baseline performance between groups, with mean scores of 55.23 for the experimental group and 54.87 for the control group. After six weeks of intervention, the experimental group showed a significant improvement to 68.47, while the control group improved slightly to 58.10. A paired sample t-test revealed a statistically significant difference in the experimental group (p < 0.05), while the control group's improvement was not significant (p = 0.068). An independent sample t-test confirmed a significant difference between the two groups in the post-test (p < 0.05). Qualitative data supported the quantitative findings, with students in the experimental group exhibiting higher enthusiasm, better discipline, and improved motor coordination. These results highlight the value of structured, age-appropriate training programs in enhancing basic volleyball skills in elementary school settings. The study suggests incorporating targeted skill development modules into physical education curricula to promote both performance and engagement.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of equestrian training on the concentration levels of athletes at Club Stable Bahar, located in the Peat District. Recognising the unique cognitive demands of equestrian sports, this research investigates how structured training contributes to riders' mental focus and attentional capacity. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method, utilising observation techniques and validated questionnaires to collect data on athlete concentration levels. Six athletes from the club participated as respondents. The analysis categorised concentration levels into three groups: high, medium, and low. The results revealed that none of the athletes (0%) were in the high-concentration category, five athletes (83%) were in the medium category, and one athlete (17%) was categorised as having low concentration. These findings suggest that while equestrian training at Club Stable Bahar provides some cognitive stimulation, it may not be sufficiently structured to develop high-level concentration skills in most athletes. In conclusion, the overall concentration level of athletes engaged in equestrian training at Club Stable Bahar falls within the medium category. This highlights the need for the integration of targeted psychological skills training—particularly focused attention and mental conditioning—into the existing equestrian training programs. Enhancing these aspects may not only improve rider concentration but also positively influence overall performance and safety in equestrian sports. Further research with a larger sample size is recommended to validate these findings and develop evidence-based training models for cognitive skill development in grassroots equestrian settings.
