Abstract

This study aims to explore the extent of mental skills exposure and understanding among first-year students enrolled in a Sports Coaching Education program, the majority of whom are athletes representing various regions in South Sulawesi. A descriptive research method with a cross-sectional survey design was used. The population consisted of 195 new students, with 171 valid responses obtained through an online questionnaire comprising both closed and open-ended questions. The data were analyzed using descriptive techniques and qualitative interpretation of open responses. Results show that while the students come from diverse sports backgrounds and levels of competitive experience, only a minority have received structured mental skills training. Most psychological guidance came informally from coaches, and upon further analysis, it was revealed that such guidance often involved physically intensive or disciplinary measures rather than scientifically grounded psychological techniques. Furthermore, a significant majority of the participants reported experiencing performance anxiety, loss of motivation, and diminished self-confidence before competitions, yet lacked the tools to manage these psychological challenges effectively. This study underscores the importance of introducing structured mental skills training early in athletes’ careers and integrating sport psychology into coaching education programs. By doing so, future coaches will be better equipped to foster both performance and psychological well-being in athletes under their guidance

Abstract

Aerobic physical activity has an important role in improving students' fitness and health. However, the level of participation of MAN 1 Sinjai students in this activity still varies. This study aims to analyse the factors that influence students' participation in aerobic physical activity, including motivation, available facilities, and environmental support, and examine the relationship between students' perceptions of the benefits of aerobic physical activity and the level of students' participation in aerobic activity. This research uses quantitative methods with a descriptive design. The population in this study were MAN 1 Sinjai students, with a sample of 50 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires, while data analysis used descriptive statistics. The results showed that the level of student participation in aerobic physical activity varied, with most students showing a fairly good involvement, but there were still those who were neutral towards participation. Motivational factors, sports facilities, and environmental support have a significant effect on student participation, where students who are highly motivated and receive more support tend to be more active. In addition, students' perception of the benefits of aerobic physical activity had a positive relationship with their level of participation. In conclusion, increasing student participation can be achieved with strategies to increase motivation, provide better facilities, and strengthen environmental support. It is hoped that the results of this study can be the basis for designing programs to increase students' physical activity in schools.

Abstract

This literature review examines the effects of tennis-based physical education (PE) on fitness development among students. A total of 15 recent studies conducted over the past decade were analyzed, encompassing elementary to university levels. The findings consistently demonstrate significant improvements in multiple fitness components due to tennis-based learning. Cardiovascular endurance increased by 15–20% following tennis drills lasting 8 to 12 weeks (Smith et al., 2015; Wijaya, 2020). Agility improved by 12% as a result of reaction-based tennis activities (Rahmawati, 2016). Balance and postural stability enhancements of 10–15% were observed in interventions reported by Chen & Lin (2017) and Tanaka & Ishikawa (2022). Furthermore, muscle strength in the upper and lower body increased by 10–18% due to tennis stroke and footwork training (Sulastri, 2021). Motor coordination improvements were noted in middle school students through longitudinal programs (Kwon et al., 2024). Despite these promising results, gaps exist, including limited longitudinal studies and underrepresentation of younger students and diverse geographical regions. The review highlights the importance of integrating tennis into PE curricula as a multidimensional tool to enhance physical fitness, cognitive skills, and motor development. Future research should focus on long-term impacts and include qualitative assessments to deepen understanding of student experiences. Overall, tennis-based PE offers a comprehensive approach to physical fitness development, promoting health and active lifestyles among youth.

Abstract

Physical education plays an important role in improving students' motor skills and fitness. One important aspect of playing football is a dribbling technique, which requires good coordination, balance, and control. However, many students still have difficulty dribbling the ball properly. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of one-on-one games on improving students' dribbling skills at MTs Nurul Cholil 03. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of one-on-one games on dribbling skills in students at MTs Nurul Cholil 03. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental experimental approach (pretest-posttest design). The sample used was 20 students from classes VII A and VIII A who had difficulty dribbling the ball. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and dribbling skills tests before and after treatment. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and hypothesis testing with paired t-tests using SPSS 20 software. The results of the normality test showed that the pretest and posttest data were normally distributed. Hypothesis testing shows a significance value of 0.005 <0.05, which means that there is a significant effect of one-on-one games on students' dribbling ability. After the treatment was given, students showed an increase in ball control, balance, and dribbling strategy, compared to the pretest results before the treatment. One-on-one games have proven to be effective in improving students' dribbling ability. With training that focuses on individual skills, students are able to develop better techniques in carrying the ball and defending the ball from opponents. Therefore, this method can be used as an alternative learning method to improve football skills in physical education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of constructive communication in driving community sports through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. A total of 218 peer-reviewed articles published between 2017 and 2025 in the Scopus database were thematically analyzed to examine how communication contributes to building inclusive, resilient, and empowered sports communities. The findings revealed five major themes: participation and social inclusion, digital transformation and community media, interpersonal skills and leadership, crisis communication strategies, and communication as a tool for social justice. The study highlights that open, empathetic, and collaborative communication not only enhances community engagement but also strengthens inclusive leadership and social resilience. Digital technology plays a significant role in expanding communication channels, although it requires adequate literacy and social sensitivity. The study recommends strengthening interpersonal communication capacities among coaches and facilitators, promoting inclusive use of digital technologies, and implementing continuous evaluation mechanisms to ensure the success of community sports programs
