Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the open unemployment rate (TPT), Human Development Index (HDI), and inflation on economic growth in Bengkulu Province over the 2014–2023 period. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes secondary data sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The findings reveal that, on a partial basis, only the HDI has a statistically significant influence on economic growth, while the open unemployment rate and inflation do not demonstrate significant effects. However, when analyzed simultaneously, all three variables collectively exert a significant impact on economic growth in the province. These results underscore the pivotal role of human capital development in driving sustainable economic performance. Enhancing education, healthcare, and general welfare as reflected in HDI can contribute more effectively to long-term economic resilience. The study highlights the need for targeted policy interventions that prioritize improvements in human resource quality alongside macroeconomic stability. Future research may explore additional socio-economic indicators or extend the analysis to a broader regional scope for comparative insights. Overall, the findings provide empirical support for formulating inclusive development strategies aimed at achieving sustainable economic growth in Bengkulu and similar regions.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Direct Cash Assistance (Bantuan Langsung Tunai/BLT) on community welfare in Pa’rappunganta Village, Polongbangkeng Utara District, Takalar Regency, Indonesia. Despite the widespread implementation of BLT as a social protection instrument, empirical evidence on its effectiveness in improving long-term welfare at the village level remains limited. This research aims to analyze the extent to which BLT contributes to community welfare and to identify its practical limitations. A qualitative research approach was employed, using primary and secondary data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. Informants consisted of BLT recipients, village officials, and community representatives selected purposively based on their involvement in the program. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis with triangulation to ensure validity and reliability. The findings reveal that BLT provides short-term financial relief and helps households meet basic consumption needs, particularly during periods of economic vulnerability. However, the assistance does not significantly improve long-term welfare, income stability, or quality of life, nor does it effectively reduce poverty levels. This limitation is mainly due to the temporary nature of the program and the absence of complementary empowerment or income-generating initiatives. The study contributes to the literature on social assistance by highlighting the gap between short-term aid effectiveness and sustainable welfare improvement. Policy implications suggest that BLT should be integrated with productive economic programs to achieve more sustainable social welfare outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of work–life balance on job satisfaction, with burnout serving as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative explanatory design, the study was conducted within a mining services company in Indonesia, namely PT Pama Persada Nusantara (KPCT Site). Data were collected through a survey-based approach using structured questionnaires administered to 67 employees selected through purposive sampling. Statistical analysis was applied to test both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The findings indicate that work–life balance has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction and a significant negative effect on burnout. However, burnout does not exhibit a significant direct effect on job satisfaction. Despite this, burnout plays an indirect mediating role in the relationship between work–life balance and job satisfaction, suggesting that improvements in work–life balance can reduce burnout levels, which in turn enhances job satisfaction indirectly. These results highlight the complexity of employee well-being dynamics, where burnout may not independently determine job satisfaction but still functions as an important psychological mechanism linking work–life balance to employee attitudes. This study contributes to the human resource management and organizational behavior literature by clarifying the mediating role of burnout in the work–life balance–job satisfaction nexus, particularly in high-demand industrial contexts. Practically, the findings underscore the importance for organizations to implement effective work–life balance policies as a strategic approach to managing employee well-being and improving job satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to identify leading agricultural commodities in Simalungun Regency during the 2019–2023 period using the Location Quotient (LQ) approach. The analysis is based on secondary production data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Simalungun Regency and North Sumatra Province. LQ analysis is employed to measure the comparative advantage of agricultural commodities by comparing their production concentration at the regency level with that of the provincial level. Commodities with LQ values greater than one are classified as base (leading) commodities, indicating surplus production and export potential. The results show that the horticulture and plantation subsectors exhibit the strongest comparative advantages in Simalungun Regency. Key leading commodities include shallots, cabbage, long beans, large chili, and several vegetables in the horticulture subsector, as well as cocoa, oil palm, Arabica coffee, and Robusta coffee in the plantation subsector. Cocoa records exceptionally high LQ values, indicating a dominant production surplus relative to the provincial average. In contrast, most food crop commodities, except soybeans, and several livestock and fishery commodities remain non-base and primarily serve local demand. Overall, the findings indicate that Simalungun Regency possesses substantial potential to strengthen its regional economy through the development of leading agricultural commodities. Policy efforts should focus on value chain enhancement, infrastructure improvement, institutional strengthening of farmers, and market expansion to support sustainable agricultural-based regional development.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Village Fund policies in promoting economic development and infrastructure improvement in Bonto Jai Village, Bissappu District, Bantaeng Regency, Indonesia, during the 2020–2024 period. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide a comprehensive evaluation of policy outcomes. Quantitative data were obtained from village budget realization reports and analyzed using an effectiveness ratio comparing planned and realized expenditures. Qualitative data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with village officials, community leaders, and beneficiaries, as well as documentation review, to capture stakeholder perceptions and implementation dynamics. The findings indicate that Village Fund utilization in Bonto Jai Village was generally effective, with effectiveness levels ranging from 90% to 98% over the study period. Infrastructure development, particularly in agricultural support facilities such as farm roads and irrigation systems, significantly improved accessibility, mobility, and productivity. In terms of economic development, Village Fund–supported programs, including the establishment of village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), microenterprise assistance, and capacity-building initiatives, contributed to local economic activity and employment creation. Furthermore, increased community participation in village deliberation forums strengthened transparency and accountability in fund management. Despite these positive outcomes, the study identifies challenges related to unequal benefit distribution, limited community involvement in BUMDes management, and infrastructure maintenance issues. Overall, the study concludes that Village Fund policies have effectively supported local development in Bonto Jai Village, while highlighting the need for improved governance capacity, inclusive participation, and sustainability-oriented planning to enhance long-term policy impact.
