Abstract

Oil and gas drilling activities have associated high risks. 80% of the causes of drilling accidents are caused by human performance. In 2020, drilling activities at PT. X accounts for 3 out of 8 accidents and the common cause that occurs due to human factors. Unsafe acts are the main cause of drilling accidents in the oil and gas industry. This study discusses the analysis of cases of oil and gas drilling accidents at PT.X from the point of view of human factors. The purpose of this study is to analyze the contributing factors of active and latent failure and to analyze cases of work accidents from the point of view of human factors in drilling activities at PT. X year 2022, and determine recommendations for future improvements from drilling activities at PT. X. This research method uses descriptive analytic from secondary data and interview results. It was found that the latent condition that contributed to the drilling accident that occurred at PT. X in 2022, namely failure to update the latest regulations, the control carried out is still administrative in nature, etc. While active failures that contribute are failure to interpret damaged equipment, SOP violations, etc. So, it was found that latent conditions contributed more to cause unsafe acts. The synthesis of the analysis results obtained shows that the safety value has not been embedded in PT. X. So, the recommendation given by the author is to make OHS a safety of work.

Abstract

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many activities that were previously carried out offline have turned into online, including the education sector. This condition increased the use duration of electronic devices with digital screens/VDT, especially among students. It is one of the risk factors for Computer Vision Syndrome. Apart from duration, several risk factors are also associated with Computer Vision Syndrome. The aims of this study are to see an overview of Computer Vision Syndrome incidence and analyze the relationship between Computer Vision Syndrome incidence and its risk factors in regular (S1) and postgraduate (S2) students, FKM UI during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted in March-June 2022 using the CVS-Q questionnaire and several short questions related to risk factors distributed online. The study design used in this study was cross-sectional and involved 250 respondents from regular undergraduate and postgraduate students of FKM UI. The results of this study indicate that there are 6 variables that have a significant relationship, namely age (P 0.000), duration of use of digital screens/VDT (P=0.006), rest pattern (P=0.007), eye refraction abnormalities (P=0.014), use of antiglare (P=0.011), and Screen brightness (P=0.030). Therefore, further controls and interventions are needed so that these problems can be overcome.

Abstract

Eye strain is a condition where the eyes are strained due to prolonged overuse, especially in computer-based activities. NIOSH states that about 75 - 90% of computer users who spend three hours or more complaining of visual impairment. A study by Kowalska et al (2011) on office workers who use computers intensely stated that the prevalence of eye strain in female workers was 50,7% and in men was 32,6%. This study aims to determine the relationship between illuminance, reflectance, and work area contrast on eye strain complaints in office employees at PT. X. This research was conducted from April - June 2023 with a total sample of 134 employees by simple random sampling. The design used in this research is cross-sectional and data collection is carried out by distributing questionnaires, which were adopted from Haeny (2009) and Ramadhani (2012), and direct measurements using a lux meter. Results showed that there were 113 employees (84,3%) complaining of eye strain with the most common symptom felt by them was tension in the neck and shoulders (43,3%) and the least common symptom was pain in the eyelids (8,2%). The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between illuminance (p-value = 0,000), reflectance (p-value = 0,001), contrast (p-value = 0,027), work duration (p-value = 0,000), and age (p-value = 0,022), but there was no relationship between visual impairment (p-value = 0,749) and history of eye health problems (p-value = 0,918) to eye strain complaints.
