Abstract

Occupational Diseases (PAK) in the form of pain complaints in the skeletal system that cause the work process are called Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). PT. PLN Yantek workers are at risk of experiencing MSDs complaints because the work is done manually and the work posture is less ergonomic. This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing full-body stretch and digital-based manual handling education and to assess its effectiveness on MSDs. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 26 Yantek workers. The intervention was given at 10 meetings, MSDs complaints were measured using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire and analyzed using a paired sample t-test with a significance of α = 0.005. The study's results on the full body stretch variable and digital-based manual handling education in the experimental group showed a p-value of 0.000, which means there are differences in MSDs complaints before and after the intervention. The full-body stretch intervention results showed a mean difference of 13.27, while the digital-based manual handling education intervention showed a mean difference of 10.58. Therefore, both interventions have the same effect in reducing MSDs complaints, but whole-body stretching showed greater effectiveness. Abstract

Distribution of fuel oil (FO) using tanker trucks is highly risky. Although PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has adopted the Tanker Truck Safety Management System, accidents still occur. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of FO distribution safety procedures at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Jambi. This study used a cross-sectional approach. Primary data were collected through direct observation of 50 tanker trucks, including the physical condition, completeness of documents, and driver behavior. Secondary data, such as accident and inspection reports, were also analyzed. Fishbone analysis was used to identify the root cause, and scoring was done to determine the solution. The evaluation showed that although the company had made efforts to implement safety procedures properly, 79 potential hazards were found in 38 of the 50 tanker trucks observed. The most common findings were related to damage to the emergency cut-off, fire extinguishers, and tires. Fishbone analysis identified human factors (awareness and understanding), materials (equipment quality), methods (inspection procedures), and the environment (road conditions) as the causes. The fuel distribution safety procedure at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Jambi is quite effective, but it needs improvement in supervision, training, and technology utilization. Further research with broader samples and coverage areas is recommended. Keywords: fishbone analysis, occupational safety, tanker trucks, fuel terminal.

Abstract

Work fatigue is a common problem that can reduce productivity and increase the risk of workplace accidents. At UMKM Garmen X Karanganyar, the lack of supplementary food intake causes energy deficits and fatigue among workers. This condition underlies the research to analyze the effectiveness of giving banana raja (Musa paradisiaca L.) as an additional snack in reducing work fatigue among sewing operators at UMKM Garmen X Karanganyar. The research was conducted using a true experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. 42 sewing operators were selected from 47 workers using simple random sampling, divided into two groups of 21 people each. The experimental group received an intervention of 100 grams of banana raja for 4 consecutive days. Work fatigue was measured using the Swedish Occupational Fatigue Index (SOFI) questionnaire before and after the intervention, then analyzed using paired sample t-test and independent t-test statistical tests. The results showed that there was no significant difference in work fatigue in the control group p = 0,060 (p > 0,05) and there was a significant difference in work fatigue in the experimental group p = 0,001 (p < 0,05). Work fatigue between the control and experimental groups showed a significant difference p = 0,001 (p < 0,05) with an effect size (d) of 1,74. The provision of banana raja is significantly effective in reducing work fatigue among sewing operators at UMKM Garmen X Karanganyar. Abstract

Educational Play Equipment (APE) is one of the facilities provided by Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions to support the learning process through play. This study aims to assess the compliance of APE and the arrangement of outdoor play areas with the 2018 Guidelines for Managing PAUD Classroom Space, SNI 9169:2023, the Ministry of Education and Culture’s 2021 Safe APE Guidelines for Early Childhood, and Ministerial Regulation No. 3 of 2022. The study employs a qualitative design with a descriptive approach through facility observations, interviews with teaching staff, and a review of school documents. The data analysis process includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that Kindergartens X and Y have not fully met the required safety standards. Both schools still show insufficient attention to the stability of playground equipment, and several materials used may pose potential hazards to children. Such conditions can increase the risk of accidents in the play area, including bumps, falls, pinching injuries, and cuts. Therefore, repairs and replacements of unsafe equipment, rearrangement of play structures, improvements to the play surface using softer materials, and strengthened supervision by teachers and parents are needed to reduce the risk of injury. With these measures, children can play in an environment that is safer and minimizes potential hazards. Abstract

The textile industry is one of the leading sectors in Indonesia, playing a crucial role in providing employment and driving economic growth. However, this industry also carries significant potential for occupational safety and health hazards, particularly due to unsafe actions. Observations at PT X revealed that workers' level of knowledge and behavior regarding unsafe actions remained low. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the effectiveness of an educational video intervention on unsafe actions on workers' knowledge and behavior. This quantitative research employed a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group model. The study was carried out at PT X Karanganyar from January to April 2025. The research sample consisted of 72 weaving section workers, divided into two groups: 36 workers as the experimental group and 36 as the control group. The experimental group received the educational video intervention, while the control group received no intervention. Data analysis was performed using the paired t-test and independent t-test, along with Effect Size calculation (Cohen’s d). The results indicated that the experimental group, which received the unsafe action educational video intervention, showed a significant increase in both knowledge (∆ = 2.30; p < 0.001; d =1.628) and behavior (∆ = 5.02; p < 0.001; d = 1.034). Inter-group tests revealed a significant difference in post-test knowledge (p < 0.001) with a 'very large' effect size (d = 1.705) and behavior (p < 0.001) with a 'large' effect size (d = 0.913). It can be concluded that the educational video on unsafe actions proved effective in improving the knowledge and safe behavior of weaving workers at PT X Karanganyar. Abstract

Heat stress is a serious threat to construction workers that can reduce productivity and even threaten lives. Existing cooling vest innovations still have limitations, such as weight, manual systems, and the risk of leakage. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Automatic Vest (AUVEST), an automatic cooling vest based on Wearable Thermoelectric Cooler and the Internet of Things (IoT), in preventing the risk of heat stress. The method used is experimental with trials on one construction worker in indoor and outdoor environments. AUVEST is equipped with temperature sensors (DS18B20, TMP102) and humidity (DHT11), whose data is processed by an ESP8266 microcontroller to automatically activate the Peltier module based on the Heat Stress Index (HSI) indicator ≥28 and internal temperature ≥35°C. The performance test results show that AUVEST successfully activates the cooling system automatically in outdoor environments, with the temperature reduction rate reaching a peak of 6.91°C in the 7th minute and stabilizing at 6.65°C. AUVEST weighs only 992 grams and has a battery life of 8 hours, outperforming similar products. It was concluded that AUVEST is effective as an innovative, ergonomic, and intelligent solution for heat stress prevention in construction workers. Abstract

Industrial environments often generate high noise levels due to the continuous operation of machinery and production equipment. Persistent exposure to workplace noise exceeding the Threshold Limit Value (TLV) can lead to noise-induced hearing loss. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 430 million people worldwide require rehabilitation for hearing impairment, with 109.4 million of these cases occurring in Southeast and Central Asia. As a critical component of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management, noise control is often implemented using Hearing Protection Devices (HPDs). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an earplug-earmuff combination, developed as Madcom Noise Protection, in enhancing noise attenuation and assessing its acceptability among users. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 30 students from Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta. The results demonstrate that Madcom Noise Protection significantly improved hearing threshold levels by an average of 8.50 dB compared to using an earmuff alone ($p < 0.001$). Furthermore, user acceptability was remarkably high, reaching an average score of 97.33%. In conclusion, the developed earplug-earmuff combination is highly effective in strengthening hearing protection and is well-received as an innovative HPD modification.
