Abstract

Neck pain is one of the musculoskeletal complaints that people often complain about. Unergonomic work posture is one of the risk factors that can cause neck pain. Among batik craftsmen, unnatural working posture is done in a long time with repetitive movements. This study aimed to determine the relationship between working posture and the incidence of neck pain in batik craftsmen. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional design. Sampling was done using total sampling. The research subjects were 41 batik craftsmen who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The working posture of batik craftsmen was measured by the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). Neck pain was measured using Neck Disability Index (NDI) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Kendall's tau correlation test. The results of the study showed most of batik craftsmen working in high risk posture as appeared on 25 people. For neck pain, most of batik craftsmen was in the mild pain category as appeared on 26 people. Based on the bivariate analysis test using the Kendall's tau correlation test, the results were significant (p=0.014; r=0.358). There is a significant relationship with a weak correlation between working posture and the incidence of neck pain among batik craftsmen in Kampung Batik Laweyan Surakarta

Abstract

This study analyzes material transportation vehicle incidents in the hauling area of PT. XYZ from 2018 to 2020. Incidents are analyzed with bowtie method to identify risk factors or threat, preventive controls, consequences, escalation factors and controls. The purpose of this research is to analyze incidents in PT. XYZ using bowtie methods to further identifies which failures of barrier that allows incident to take place. This research is qualitative study by using incident investigation records as the unit analysis. The results of this study suggest the company to review procedures, standards, or methods used for preventive and mitigative controls and their risk identification document, conduct workload analysis on field supervisors, increase control and monitoring over human factors at work and improve the performance of preventive control’s technology.

Abstract

Background: Not all of awkward postures that exist in the industry should be eliminated. Due to the fact, awkward posture can not be separated from daily work activities. Any movement that makes the body angle away from the normal position, can be said to be an awkward posture. Misconceptions related to the concept of awkward posture are followed by the fact that the assessment’s concepts of the observation method that are often used to assess awkward postures (REBA, RULA, and OWAS) is not accordance with the theory it should be. That condition can reduce the effectiveness of controlling musculoskeletal system disorders. To overcome this, it is necessary to review the literature that explains what variables can affect the severity of awkward postures. Method: This study uses a narrative literature review method with the aim is for describing the relationship between duration, frequency, and angle inclination of posture with the severity of awkward postures. Results: 15 literatures were obtained from the online databases of Science Direct, ProQuest, and Google Scholar, with details of 9 literatures using the semi-experimental method, 5 literatures using the cross sectional method, and 1 literature using the systematic literature study method. Conclusion: Based on results of the literature, there are some evidences that proof the linear relationship between the duration, frequency, and angle inclination of postures with the severity of awkward postures.

Abstract

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are one of the most common occupational health problems among workers, including teachers. High work demand and awkward posture are among the most common risk factors. In addition, individual characteristics are included as risk factors that can increase these complaints. Thus, the purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between individual characteristics, physical and psychosocial risk factors against WMSDs on teachers at State Vocational High School. This research was conducted in April – July 2021 using various questionnaires like NMQ, QEC, and a combination of psychosocial questionnaires. A cross-sectional study design was used in this research with 100 teachers involved from three State Vocational High School in Pekanbaru. The results of this research indicate that there are three variables that have a significant relationship, namely: a high level of risk on wrist/hand and low control of work with neck complaints and low social support with shoulder complaints. Therefore, further control and intervention are needed to overcome these problems.

Abstract

Construction industry has a high hazard and high risk to allow work accident. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of individual risk factor and organizational risk factor associated with unsafe behavior or substandard action in construction workers. This study used a cross sectional study design. The instrument used for collecting data and this research conducted in Mei – July 2021 involving 165 workers in the sports center stadium construction project Banten. The result of this research indicate age has a positive effect but not significant against unsafe behavior or substandard action. While education level, work experience in the project, average weekly working hours, safety motivation, organizational safety behavior have a negative effect but not significant against unsafe behavior or substandard action, and safety knowledge, psychological capital (self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and optimism) have a negative and significant effect against unsafe behavior or substandard action. Therefore, we need to control and intervene to reduce unsafe behavior or substandard action in workers.

Abstract

Road transportation accidents are the eighth leading cause of death worldwide, reaching 1.35 million people annually (WHO, 2021). Data from the NTMC Korlantas Polri for 2019-2021 shows that the number of road transportation accidents in Indonesia is above 100 thousand every year. This study identifies latent and active failure factors contributing to Indonesia's land transportation accidents to determine the causes of accidents comprehensively. This study uses secondary data with 320,084 traffic accident case reports in 2019-2021 belonging to the NTMC Korlantas Polri. The method used is qualitative by analyzing based on the Swiss Cheese Model. The results of this study indicate latent failure factors in road transportation accidents in Indonesia in 2019-2021, namely the initial condition of the brake vehicle not functioning (5.7%), occurring on roads with suitable conditions (92.5%), occurring in sunny weather conditions ( 92.3%), and bright/clear lighting conditions (79.1%). Active failure factors in land transportation accidents in Indonesia in 2019 - 2021 are the age of drivers aged 22 – 29 years (15.7%), drivers with a senior high school education/equivalent (48.4%), drivers who do not have a driver's license (28.3 %), and drivers who are careless towards traffic from the front (19.0%).
