Abstract

Undang-Undang RI No. 23 Thn. 2002 regulates the protection of children, so that children can be avoided from cruelty, physical abuse, torture and other misbehavior. In fact, physical and verbal aggressive behavior toward children are still often found. One of several strategies to decrease such behavior is to undergo tuning in to kids intervention. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of “tuning in to kids” training in decreasing parents’ aggressive behavior toward their kids. This research is a quasi experimental research with non randomized pretest posttest control group design. The subject of this study consisted of 10 mothers which are divided into two groups. Data collection is performed using “parents’ aggressive behavior toward children scale” (33 items) which is adapted from (Savitri, 2005). Data is analyzed by using independent sample t-test. The result shows that there is a significant difference of mother’s aggressive behavior toward their children score between experimental and control group. It means that tuning in to kids training gives a great effect in decreasing aggressive behavior toward their children.

Abstract

Abstract

Education at the junior high school level is a crucial phase for early adolescents requiring structured guidance. This study aims to gather evidence on the management of Guidance and Counseling (BK) in various Indonesian junior high schools, focusing on planning, implementation, evaluation, and supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a systematic literature review method of ten articles published between 2020–2025, the results show that most junior high schools have implemented BK management functions. Planning is generally initiated by needs assessments, but its implementation faces challenges such as an unfavorable student-counselor ratio, limited facilities, and insufficient allocated hours for BK. Program evaluation is often weak, hindering continuous improvement processes. Despite some progress, structural and technical challenges persist. Therefore, enhancing BK teachers' competencies, better school support, and adequate facilities are needed to create more transparent and effective BK services.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling using the Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) approach, with the Exception Question and Miracle Question techniques, in improving students' self-adjustment at MTs Negeri 1 Palembang. The research employed an experimental method with a Randomized Pretest–Posttest Comparison Group Design, involving 21 seventh-grade students divided into three groups: the Exception Question, the Miracle Question, and a control group. The instrument used was a self-adjustment scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to assess effectiveness within each group and the Kruskal-Wallis Test to examine differences in effectiveness among groups. The findings show that both techniques effectively improved students' self-adjustment, with the Miracle Question technique demonstrating a stronger effect. These results indicate that SFBC, particularly the Miracle Question technique, can be an effective intervention to enhance students' self-adjustment

Abstract

The research aims to analyze students' perception of the implementation of the Guidance and Counseling (GC) management system in schools, identify managerial gaps, and formulate recommendations for developing a digital-based system. Comprehensive GC services require systematic management, regulated through the integrated POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) functions. The method used is descriptive qualitative through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with 10 high school students. The results showed significant success in the Actuating (Implementation) function (high interaction comfort and quality of interpersonal relationships). However, a critical communication gap was found in the Planning function, where the majority of students (9 out of 10) were unaware that the need assessment was used as the basis for program development. Furthermore, a strong aspiration from students was found towards the digitalization of GC services to increase accessibility and transparency, especially in scheduling and online need assessment. The implication is that the GC management system needs to be enhanced by strengthening two-way communication and integrating digital technology as part of the System Support to achieve accountability and effectiveness.

Abstract

Emerging adult students face complex adaptation challenges that demand effective decision-making abilities. This study aims to examine the mediating role of depression in the relationship between resilience and decision-making styles. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 70 college students through purposive sampling. The instruments employed included the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and the General Decision-Making Style (GDMS) inventory. Mediation analysis using the PROCESS Macro Model 4 revealed that resilience was negatively correlated with depression (r = -0.612) and positively correlated with decision-making style (r = 0.559). The mediation test confirmed that depression serves as a partial mediator (indirect effect 0.419;95% CI [0.267, 0.570]). These findings underscore that resilience enhances decision-making quality both directly and indirectly by reducing depressive symptoms

Abstract

The Bulusan Tradition in Hadipolo Village, Jekulo Subdistrict, Kudus Regency is a local cultural heritage that remains preserved and is rich in religious, social, customary, and moral values. This study is important to examine the values contained in the Bulusan Tradition and its relevance to Islamic Guidance from the perspective of Islamic Guidance and Counseling studies. The research hypothesis is that the Bulusan Tradition aligns with the principles of iman (faith), Islam (practice), and ihsan (excellence), making it relevant as a media for culturally- based Islamic guidance. The study employed a qualitative approach using ethnographic methods through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted descriptively-interpretatively using Koentjaraningrat’s cultural theory and Anwar Sutoyo’s Islamic Guidance concept. The results show that the values of the Bulusan Tradition are internalized in seven elements of culture and support the strengthening of faith, social care, and moral development. These findings highlight the importance of the Bulusan Tradition as a medium for cultural da’wah and non-formal Islamic guidance that is contextual and sustainable.

Abstract

Students with disabilities continue to face various challenges in pursuing higher education, particularly in non-metropolitan areas such as Sukabumi. Limited facilities, social stigma, and the lack of optimal inclusive education services may affect their learning motivation. This study aims to analyze the motivation of students with disabilities in pursuing higher education in Sukabumi based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which emphasizes three basic psychological needs: autonomy, competence, and relatedness. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving 23 students with disabilities from seven higher education institutions in the Sukabumi region. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that students’ motivation is influenced by internal factors such as the desire for independence, self-actualization, and self-affirmation, as well as external factors including family support, social environment, and educational institutions. The fulfillment of autonomy, competence, and relatedness plays an important role in sustaining motivation and perseverance among students with disabilities in completing higher education.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to examine the relationship between empathy and emotional literacy in early childhood. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 16 children aged 3-6 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable empathy and emotional literacy scales. Pearson correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between empathy and emotional literacy in early childhood (r = 0.291, p > 0.274), as young children have not fully developed an understanding of empathy toward others. These findings suggest that children's emotional literacy is not solely dependent on empathy but is influenced by other factors. Young children can recognize others' emotional states without necessarily engaging in empathetic responses. This study provides insights for educators and parents in designing learning programs aimed at enhancing children's emotional literacy. Keywords: empathy, emotional literacy, early childhood, correlational study
