Abstract

Feminism was born out of women's dissatisfaction with men's oppressive attitudes and marginalizing their roles. They demand equality of treatment, demand recognition of their role in family life, and even more so in various sectors of community life. Feminism, which was originally sectoral in nature, has become a movement and globalized to all corners of the world, including the Islamic world. Information technology has a bearing on the spread of feminism issues throughout the world so as to influence the mindset of society, including Islamic society. Feminist struggles in many cases contradict Islamic values. The task of Islamic da'wah in this case is to straighten out their thinking. Muslim da'wah is the most appropriate da'wah element to answer the issues of feminism. The issue of feminism and the role of Muslim da'wah in countering feminism raises at least two questions, namely how feminism and their struggle actually became a global movement and how Muslim da'wah answers the global challenges of the feminism movement. To answer these questions, researchers used a qualitative research method using a literature approach. Data analysis is focused on the transformation of Muslim da'wah in facing the global issue of feminism movement. The result is that the issue of feminism spreads throughout the world including the Islamic world following the development of modernization and information technology. In response to this, Muslim da'wah must be able to transform by using information technology as a manifestation of da'wah bil hikmah. The development of da'wah methods today favors the use of audio visuals on digital and online media. The use of audio visual media can be done by combining the methods of bil lisan, bil qalam and bil hal.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics and civilization of Islam in the Nusantara with a focus on intercultural interactions that shape the social and cultural structures in this region. Islam, which came through trade and da'wah routes, played an important role in shaping civilization in the Nusantara through the exchange of science, technology, and adaptation of local culture. The great contribution of Muslim scientists in the fields of mathematics, medicine, and philosophy also influenced the development of science in the Nusantara. Meanwhile, cultural interactions between Islam and local cultures resulted in acculturation that enriched the heritage of Nusantara arts and culture, such as performing arts and gamelan music. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and historical analysis to explore how Islamic civilization adapted and developed in the Nusantara, and how it influenced local social, legal, and cultural structures. In conclusion, Islamic civilization in the Nusantara is not only limited to religious aspects, but also includes social, economic, and cultural fields that are interrelated and shape the identity of the Muslim community in the Nusantara.

Abstract

Global Islamic discourse is dominated by Middle Eastern centrism. Indonesia promotes Islam Nusantara (Archipelagic Islam), emphasizing moderation and syncretism (adat), aiming to be a global counter-model for reconciling faith, democracy, and modernity. This study aimed to analyze the strategic efficacy and global reception of Islam Nusantara among Middle Eastern religious elites and Western policymakers, addressing the critical Theological-Policy Translation Gap hindering its soft power projection. A qualitative, comparative multi-site case study (N=25 elite informants) was conducted, including Indonesian propagators, Salafi critics, and integration experts. Data were gathered via interviews and analyzed using a Policy Translation Matrix. The campaign is severely constrained by the Translation Gap. Middle Eastern elites rejected the concept based on Theological Purity (bid’ah). Western policymakers marginalized it due to a lack of Policy Utility and secular framing, proving the uniform message failed to satisfy opposing filters. The findings mandate an urgent dual-track communication strategy. The study’s contribution is a novel Global Policy Strategy for Contextual Islam that requires focusing on rigorous Arabic fiqh scholarship for the East and pragmatic, secular policy framing for the West.

Abstract

This study passionately explores the profound and timeless concept of the manners of seeking knowledge championed by the venerable Muslim scholar, Imam Al-Ghazali, and investigates its compelling humanistic relevance for fostering ethical character within contemporary Islamic education. Employing a rigorous qualitative literature review (library research) focused on Al-Ghazali's ethical masterpieces, particularly Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din, the primary objective is to articulate a holistic ethical roadmap for the moral development of both the student and the teacher. Our method involved systematic thematic analysis to uncover Al-Ghazali's core manners principles: sincerity of intention, deep reverence for knowledge, profound humility, patience, and the moral obligation to apply learning for personal and societal betterment. The results demonstrate that Al-Ghazali’s educational philosophy transcends mere intellectual acquisition; it fundamentally seeks human transformation from an unrefined state to a person of wisdom, self-awareness, and ethical integrity. This research offers novelty by synthesizing these classical spiritual-ethical requirements into a deeply relevant, character-centric framework that challenges the current education paradigm's over-emphasis on purely cognitive metrics. The implication is that by consciously integrating this ethical framework, contemporary Islamic education can cultivate responsible, compassionate, and ethically grounded scholars more effectively. While rooted in education, this holistic emphasis on ethical integrity and the pursuit of objective truth is foundational for any scholarly endeavor, critically contributing to the development of science and learning across all disciplines by ensuring that intellectual exploration is always guided by profound human values and responsibility, leading to unbiased research and applications that genuinely serve the greater good of humanity.

Abstract

The Kudus Tower adopts a form resembling a Hindu-Buddhist temple, raising important questions about the theological meaning of beauty and symbolism in Islamic architecture. This study aims to examine how the theology of beauty is articulated through the architectural form of the Kudus Tower and how Javanese, Hindu, and Islamic elements are harmoniously integrated within it. Using a qualitative research design, the study utilizes historical-architectural analysis, visual interpretation, and textual examination of classical Islamic and Javanese sources, complemented by secondary literature on acculturation and aesthetics. The findings indicate that the Kudus Tower embodies a contextual Islamic aesthetic that emphasizes harmony, tolerance, and local cultural continuity, rather than architectural fragmentation. Its form reflects a theological understanding of beauty as a means of da'wah, enabling Islam to be accepted without negating existing cultural identities. The study concludes that the Kudus Tower is not simply an architectural anomaly, but a profound expression of Islamic theology of beauty that accommodates local wisdom and encourages peaceful religious acculturation. This research contributes to broader discussions on Islamic aesthetics, cultural hybridity, and contextual religious expression in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Religion has long been a fundamental force in shaping social behavior, with Islamic rituals playing a central role in structuring moral and social conduct within Muslim communities. This study investigates the sociological dimensions of key Islamic rituals, including Salah (prayer), Sawm (fasting), Zakat (charity), and Hajj (pilgrimage), exploring how these practices influence individual and collective behavior. The aim of the research is to examine how Islamic rituals function as mechanisms for social cohesion, moral regulation, and identity formation. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing semi-structured interviews and participant observation among Muslim individuals from diverse backgrounds. The findings indicate that these rituals not only foster personal spiritual growth but also strengthen social bonds, promote social responsibility, and encourage ethical conduct. Participants reported that Salah reinforced community unity, while Sawm and Zakat increased empathy and social responsibility. Hajj was viewed as a transformative experience, creating a sense of global Muslim identity. The study concludes that Islamic rituals are vital tools for fostering social solidarity and regulating social behavior, highlighting their dual role in personal devotion and community building. Understanding the sociological implications of these rituals provides valuable insights into the relationship between religion and society.

Abstract

Islamic economics has emerged as an important alternative economic paradigm that integrates ethical values, legal principles, and economic activities derived from Islamic teachings. In recent decades, the rapid expansion of Islamic banking has positioned Islamic economics as a significant component of the global financial system, raising questions about its evolution, practical implementation, and broader international impact. This study aims to analyze the evolution of Islamic economics by examining its foundational principles, contemporary practices, and the global role of Islamic banking. The research employed a qualitative and descriptive-analytical approach, drawing on secondary data from academic literature, policy documents, and international financial reports related to Islamic finance. Data were analyzed through thematic and comparative analysis to explore the relationship between Islamic economic principles and institutional banking practices. The findings indicate that Islamic banking has successfully translated core Islamic economic principles, such as risk sharing, asset backing, and ethical responsibility, into modern financial operations, while also adapting pragmatically to global regulatory and market environments. The study further reveals that Islamic banking has gained global relevance by promoting ethical finance, financial inclusion, and institutional stability. The study concludes that Islamic economics represents an adaptive and evolving economic framework in which Islamic banking serves as a key mechanism for integrating ethical values into contemporary global finance.

Abstract

Hadith constitutes a foundational source in Islamic intellectual tradition, shaping both legal reasoning and theological articulation alongside the Qur’an. Ongoing debates concerning authenticity, interpretation, and contemporary relevance highlight the need for a comprehensive re-examination of its role within evolving socio-legal contexts. This study aims to analyze how Hadith functions as a normative and interpretive framework in the formation of Islamic legal and theological systems. A qualitative interpretive design was employed, integrating isn?d analysis, thematic textual examination, and comparative study of major legal and theological schools, supported by contemporary scholarly discourse. Results indicate that Hadith operates as a multidimensional source that informs detailed legal rulings and doctrinal positions, with methodological diversity across schools enabling both continuity and adaptability. Findings further reveal that context-sensitive interpretations enhance the applicability of Hadith in addressing modern issues, while text-oriented approaches provide structural stability. This study concludes that Hadith remains a dynamic and authoritative source, bridging revelation and interpretation, and offering a flexible yet coherent framework for the development of Islamic legal and theological thought in both classical and contemporary contexts.

Abstract

The growing challenges of economic inequality, environmental degradation, and social exclusion have prompted a search for alternative economic systems. Islamic economics, grounded in principles of justice, equity, and responsible resource management, offers a promising solution to these global issues. This study aims to explore how Islamic economics can contribute to sustainable development by fostering an inclusive and ethical global economy. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews with key informants and case studies from countries that have implemented Islamic economic principles. Data collected highlights the alignment of Islamic economics with the goals of sustainable development, emphasizing social welfare, environmental stewardship, and equitable wealth distribution. The study reveals that Islamic economic principles not only promote economic growth but also ensure that such growth benefits all segments of society without compromising environmental integrity. Barriers to the widespread adoption of Islamic economics, such as institutional resistance and limited awareness, are also identified. The findings suggest that integrating Islamic economic principles into global economic systems could significantly contribute to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers, business leaders, and scholars seeking to incorporate Islamic economics into development strategies.
