This study examined the relationship between self-care management and hospitalization frequency among patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis. A quantitative empirical approach with a descriptive correlational cross-sectional design was applied to 99 patients undergoing routine hemodialysis. Self-care management was measured using a validated questionnaire, while hospitalization frequency during the previous year was obtained from medical records. Descriptive analysis demonstrated that a substantial proportion of patients exhibited moderate to high levels of self-care management. Bivariate analysis revealed a statistically significant association between self-care management and hospitalization frequency, indicating that patients with higher self-care capacity experienced fewer hospital admissions. These findings suggest that effective self-care behaviors, including adherence to diet and fluid restriction, vascular access care, and stress management, contribute to greater clinical stability. Integration with existing literature confirms that self-care management operates as a protective behavioral mechanism influencing objective health outcomes in chronic kidney disease. Strengthening self-care management through structured nursing education and supportive interventions may reduce preventable hospitalizations and improve healthcare efficiency for hemodialysis populations. The results provide empirical support for incorporating self-care management as a core component of chronic renal care strategies.

Diabetic nephropathy remains a major microvascular complication contributing to morbidity among patients with diabetes mellitus, particularly in relation to prolonged disease duration and poor glycemic control. This study aimed to describe the distribution of diabetes duration and random blood glucose levels among patients with diabetic nephropathy. A retrospective descriptive design was applied using medical record data of diabetic nephropathy patients treated at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang, in 2025. A total of 97 patients were selected using the Taro Yamane formula. Data on duration of diabetes diagnosis and random blood glucose levels were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented as frequency and percentage distributions. The findings indicate that most patients with diabetic nephropathy had been diagnosed with diabetes for more than one year and exhibited elevated random blood glucose levels, reflecting sustained metabolic stress. These patterns support the concept that cumulative exposure to hyperglycemia over time plays a critical role in the development of renal microvascular damage. The study highlights the clinical relevance of early glycemic monitoring and long-term disease management to mitigate the progression of diabetic nephropathy.

Self-esteem is an important aspect of mental health that reflects how individuals value and appreciate themselves. Various factors such as social environment, academic demands, and lifestyle behaviors like smoking can influence self-esteem levels. Among nursing students, smoking behavior is considered contradictory to the values of the nursing profession, which emphasizes health promotion. This study aimed to determine the relationship between smoking behavior and self-esteem among students of the Faculty of Nursing, Sultan Agung Islamic University. This study employed a quantitative method with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 84 male students of the Faculty of Nursing, selected using stratified purposive sampling. Data were collected using a smoking behavior questionnaire and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The findings indicated that most students were non-smokers and had a moderate level of self-esteem. The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between smoking behavior and self-esteem (p < 0.05), where students who smoked tended to have lower self-esteem than non-smokers. There is a significant relationship between smoking behavior and self-esteem among students of the Faculty of Nursing, Sultan Agung Islamic University.

Adolescents are a vulnerable age group when it comes to mental health disorders, one of which is depression. Depression in adolescents can be influenced by various factors, one of which is social support. Good social support from family, friends, and the surrounding environment plays an important role in maintaining the emotional stability of adolescents so that they can avoid depression. This research method is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 108 student respondents using total sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a social support questionnaire and a depression level questionnaire (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale), which were then analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation test. The results showed that most respondents were 17 years old and received good social support. The depression level was in the normal category for 106 respondents. The Spearman Rank test results showed a p-value of 0.006 (p<0.05). The conclusion is that there is a significant relationship between social support and depression levels among adolescents at SMA Negeri 2 Semarang. The better the social support received, the lower the depression levels experienced by adolescents.

This study aimed to analyze factors influencing menstrual cycle regularity among adolescent girls using Virginia Henderson’s basic needs theory framework. A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was conducted among 128 tenth-grade students at a public senior high school in Semarang, Indonesia. Biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual variables were assessed using validated instruments, and data were analyzed through chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression. The findings indicate that menstrual cycle regularity is not determined by a single factor but reflects the interaction of multiple unmet basic needs. Sleep quality and physical activity emerged as the most dominant predictors, while nutritional status and stress showed indirect effects after controlling for other variables. These results suggest that lifestyle-related needs play a central role in maintaining reproductive health during adolescence. The application of Henderson’s theory provides a comprehensive explanatory model by linking physiological regulation with daily functional behaviors. This study contributes empirically to adolescent reproductive health research by demonstrating the relevance of a nursing-based theoretical framework in identifying dominant determinants of menstrual health and informing school-based health promotion strategies.

This study examines the relationship between screen time habits and picky eating behavior among preschool-aged children. The increasing exposure of young children to digital devices has raised concerns regarding its impact on eating behavior, appetite regulation, and dietary patterns. Using a quantitative approach, this research analyzed screen time duration and picky eating behavior through structured questionnaires completed by parents of preschool children. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant association between excessive screen time and the emergence of picky eating behavior, indicating that longer screen exposure tends to coincide with reduced food variety acceptance and irregular eating patterns. The findings also highlight the role of parental supervision and feeding practices in moderating the effects of screen time on children’s eating behavior. These results support existing evidence that prolonged screen exposure may interfere with hunger awareness and mealtime routines in early childhood. This study emphasizes the importance of regulating screen time and strengthening parental involvement to promote healthier eating behavior during the preschool period. The findings are expected to contribute to preventive strategies in child nutrition and early health education programs.

This study aimed to analyze the role of peer support in smoking cessation motivation among adolescents at MTs Al Hamidiyyah WringinJajar. A quantitative empirical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in August 2025. The population consisted of all ninth-grade students who smoked, totaling 55 respondents, and total sampling was applied. Peer support was measured using a 20-item questionnaire, while motivation to quit smoking was assessed using the Richmond Test. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis, with Somers’ d test applied at a significance level of α = 0.05. The findings showed that most respondents had moderate peer support and moderate motivation to quit smoking. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between peer support and smoking cessation motivation, indicating that higher levels of peer support were associated with stronger motivation to quit smoking. These results highlight the importance of social influences in shaping adolescents’ health-related motivation. Strengthening positive peer support within the school environment may serve as an effective strategy to enhance smoking cessation motivation among adolescents and support healthier behavioral change.
