Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA) has transformed modern auditing practices by improving efficiency, accuracy, and data analysis capabilities. However, the digitalization of auditing also presents challenges to professional ethics and auditor independence, particularly regarding automation bias, data confidentiality, and the decline of professional skepticism. This study aims to analyze the influence of AI and BDA implementation on professional ethics, auditor independence, and audit quality in the digital era from the perspective of Islamic accounting. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-qualitative design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving 12 informants consisting of public accounting firm auditors, academics in auditing and Islamic accounting, and audit technology practitioners in Indonesia selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted systematically through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that AI and BDA are capable of improving audit quality through increased audit efficiency, more accurate analytical processes, and faster risk detection capabilities. Nevertheless, the use of technology also creates risks of excessive dependence on automated systems and data security threats if not supported by adequate technological competence and the strengthening of auditors’ professional ethics. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of digital auditing, auditor independence, and Islamic accounting values within a comprehensive framework. This study implies the importance of strengthening digital literacy, data security, and digital audit ethical standards, although the findings remain limited to a specific context and number of informants.

Abstract

Krisis moral merupakan fenomena yang terus muncul dalam berbagai peradaban manusia, termasuk dalam masyarakat modern yang ditandai oleh percepatan teknologi, perubahan sosial, dan transformasi nilai. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsep krisis moral melalui perspektif filsafat moral Ibnu Sina, seorang filsuf besar dalam tradisi Islam klasik yang dikenal di Barat sebagai Avicenna. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan (library research), menelaah karya-karya utama Ibnu Sina seperti Al-Shifa, Al-Najat, dan Al-Isharat wa al-Tanbihat, serta literatur sekunder yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa dalam pandangan Ibnu Sina, krisis moral bukan sekadar penyimpangan perilaku, melainkan ketidakseimbangan struktur jiwa manusia. Moralitas, menurutnya, berakar pada keharmonisan antara akal (‘aql), nafs (jiwa), dan kehendak (iradah). Ketika daya syahwat dan daya amarah mendominasi tanpa kendali akal, maka lahirlah penyimpangan moral. Pendidikan dan pembiasaan etis menjadi solusi utama untuk membangun kembali keseimbangan tersebut. Relevansi pemikiran Ibnu Sina terhadap kondisi kontemporer menunjukkan bahwa krisis moral modern sejatinya adalah krisis rasionalitas dan krisis orientasi jiwa. Dengan demikian, rekonstruksi moral menurut Ibnu Sina menuntut revitalisasi fungsi akal sebagai pengarah utama kehidupan manusia.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether students who learn using the Read-Ask-Put (RAP) Strategy achieve better reading comprehension scores than those who learn using the Discovery Learning strategy in the Reading for Enjoyment course of the second semester students of the English Language Education Department at UHN I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa. The design used was a quasi-experimental design, especially non-equivalent control-group design. The sample of this research was 38 students of the second-semester English Language Education Department that was chosen using convenience sampling technique. The data collection technique included pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data were analyzed using the Quade ANCOVA in SPSS 26 version. The results showed that pre-test mean score of the experimental group was 86.48 and the post-test was 94.29. Meanwhile, the pre-test mean score of the control group was 80 and the post-test was 88.24. The hypothesis testing result showed the value of Sig. (1-tailed) = 0.320 > 0.05 which meant the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected. In conclusion, the students who learned using the Read-Ask-Put (RAP) strategy do not achieve better reading comprehension scores than the students who learned using the Discovery Learning strategy.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Spotify-based learning in improving the speaking skills of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati. Speaking is a crucial skill in English as a Foreign Language (EFL), yet students often experience difficulties such as low confidence, limited vocabulary, poor pronunciation, and lack of speaking practice. To address these issues, Spotify-based audio materials, particularly podcasts and narrative stories, were integrated into Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) to provide students with authentic English input and meaningful speaking practice. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group involving pre-test and post-test procedures. The sample consisted of 59 students, with 35 students in the experimental group and 24 students in the control group. The experimental group was taught using Spotify-based learning integrated with TBLT, while the control group received conventional instruction. Students’ speaking performance was assessed based on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and content organization. The data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test. The results revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with a p-value of 0.027 (p < 0.05). The experimental group showed greater improvement in speaking performance, with mean scores increasing from 69.34 in the pre-test to 75.34 in the post-test. Among all speaking aspects, comprehension showed the most significant improvement, followed by vocabulary and content organization. These findings indicate that Spotify-based learning is effective in enhancing students’ speaking skills by providing repeated exposure to authentic listening input and supporting active language use through structured speaking tasks. Therefore, Spotify integrated with TBLT can be considered an effective alternative instructional media in EFL speaking classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum toward students’ learning development at SMA Muhammadiyah Palembang. This study employed a qualitative method with a field observation approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain information regarding the implementation strategies of the Merdeka Curriculum and its impact on the learning process. The results of the study indicate that the Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs plays an important role in planning, directing, and evaluating the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at school. The strategies implemented include Project Based Learning, differentiated learning, and the use of creative and interactive learning media. The implementation of this curriculum has a positive impact on students’ learning development, such as increasing learning motivation, creativity, activeness, and critical thinking skills in the learning process. Although there are several obstacles, such as teacher readiness and limited facilities, the school has made various efforts through training, workshops, and regular evaluations to overcome these challenges. Therefore, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Muhammadiyah Palembang is considered effective in supporting the improvement of learning quality and students’ learning development

Abstract

Student activeness is a crucial component in the success of the learning process; however, its assessment in practice still faces various challenges due to the absence of structured instruments with clear indicators. This study aims to develop a performance indicator-based observation sheet that teachers can use to assess student activeness objectively and systematically. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach through observation techniques and in-depth interviews with teachers and students. The findings reveal that teachers' current assessment of student activeness tends to be subjective and inconsistent, relying on general impressions rather than measurable criteria. Based on this needs analysis, an observation sheet was developed incorporating five main indicators of student activeness: participation in discussion, ability to ask questions, ability to answer questions, collaboration in group work, and responsibility in completing assignments. The instrument is complemented by a four-category rating scale (very active, active, fairly active, and less active) to assist teachers in categorizing students' level of activeness. The resulting performance indicator-based observation sheet is expected to serve as an alternative assessment instrument that is more objective, measurable, and sustainable, while also having the potential to enhance students' intrinsic motivation in the learning process..

Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether there was a significant effect of self-repair strategies on students’ speaking skills at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 2 Bangli. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The participnts consisted of 68 students divided into two groups, The research instruments used in this study was speaking tests. The data were collected through pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis through an independent sample t-test. The findings showed that the mean score of the experimental group in the post-test was higher (M = 85.15) than the control group (M = 76.32). The result of the independent sample t-test showed a t-value of 13.637 with a significance value lower than 0.05, indicating that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group after the treatment. These findings related to Constructivism theory. Therefore, self-repair strategies were effective in improving students’ speaking skills at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 2 Bangli.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether there was a significant effect of Cake application on students speaking skill at the eighth grade of SMPN 3 Tembuku. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was the eight-grade students of SMP N 3 Tembuku. The sample consisted of 54 students, divided into 27 students in the experimental class and 27 students in the control class. The instruments used in this study were pre-test and post-test in the form of speaking tests. The data were analyzed by using ANCOVA. The result showed that the pre-test score had a significant effect on the post-test score, F(1,51) = 129.992, p = 0.001. After controlling the pre-test scores as a covariate, there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class, F(1,51) = 32.491, p = 0.001, ηp² = 0.389. This indicated that the students who were taught by using Cake application achieved better speaking skill than those who were taught by using Busuu application. Therefore, the use of the Cake application had a significant effect on students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the significant effect of YouTube videos on students’ vocabulary mastery for the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bangli. This research was conducted with the quasi experimental design containing two group as experimental and control groups. The eighth grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Bangli were involved as the research population. The cluster random sampling technique was applied, that made class 8E and 8F became the selected sample. Participant of this research were split into 35 students in group experimental and for other 35 students in group control, numbering total  of 70 participant. Vocabulary test was used as the instrument delivered into pre-test and post-test. The form of the vocabulary test was a multiple choice questions, applied also to pre-test and post-test. The collected data from the research participant was analysed using independent sample t-test to determine the significancy of the data. From the independent sample result showed that, the students’ vocabulary mastery was showing significant effect after given the post test. As shown by the value of t (68) = 3.044, with p value = 0.003, which the p value was lower than 0.050 (0.000>0.050). Also proved by the post-test mean score from experimental group of 82,56 was greater than control group of 76.23. According to these finding, can be concluded that the vocabulary mastery of the students was effected significantly by YouTube videos for the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Bangli.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of the Duolingo application in improving the speaking skills of tenth-grade students at SMK Pariwisata Budaya Bedulu. The study used a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental group taught using Duolingo and a control group taught using conventional media. The participants consisted of 66 students divided into two classes. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test speaking assessments covering pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. The findings showed that the experimental group improved from a mean score of 52.73 to 75.30, while the control group improved from 51.36 to 72.42. However, the Mann-Whitney U test showed a significance value of 0.238, which was higher than 0.05. Therefore, statistically there was no significant difference between the two groups, although the experimental group showed better improvement descriptively. These findings are related to Cognitive Learning Theory, which emphasizes practice and active learning. The study concludes that Duolingo can support students’ speaking skills as a digital learning medium.
