Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model implemented through Educandy in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of twelfth-grade students in Pancasila Education at SMAN 18 Surabaya. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design by comparing learning outcomes between the experimental group and the control group. As a form of treatment, the experimental group received instruction using the Educandy-based Game-Based Learning (GBL) model. In contrast, the control group continued to participate in the learning process through conventional teaching methods. To collect the data, this study used two main instruments: cognitive tests to measure students’ learning outcomes before and after the treatment, and questionnaires to describe students’ responses during the learning process. The significance of the difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups was tested using the Independent Samples t-Test. To measure the extent of improvement in students’ cognitive abilities, this study also applied the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) score as a parameter of the effectiveness of the intervention. The results of the statistical analysis showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which was below the 0.05 significance threshold. This finding confirms a significant difference in students’ learning outcomes between the experimental group and the control group. The experimental class achieved an average posttest score of 90.13, reflecting an improvement of 36.58 points from the pretest score of 53.55. In comparison, the control group obtained an average posttest score of 86.97, indicating an increase of 30.79 points from the initial pretest average of 56.18. Based on the N-Gain analysis, the experimental group obtained a score of 0.71, which falls within the high category, whereas the control group achieved a score of 0.57, which is classified as moderate. In addition, 94.21% of students gave positive responses to the use of Educandy, indicating that the learning medium was categorized as highly effective. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model through the Educandy platform is more effective in improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes than conventional teaching methods.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of gamification-based Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning in improving elementary school students’ participation. The research employed a literature review method by examining various scientific articles, national and international journals, and relevant references related to the implementation of gamification in education. Data were collected through literature searches in several academic databases using keywords related to gamification, physical education, student participation, and elementary education. The selected literature was analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the application of gamification elements, such as points, badges, leaderboards, levels, challenges, and rewards, can significantly enhance student participation in physical education learning. Furthermore, gamification has been found to improve learning motivation, student engagement, physical activity levels, and the overall learning experience. The results suggest that gamification is an effective instructional strategy that aligns with the developmental characteristics of elementary school students, who naturally enjoy play-based activities. Therefore, gamification-based PJOK learning can serve as an innovative approach to improve learning quality and increase student participation in elementary schools.

Abstract

Parental involvement is an important factor in supporting the learning process of early childhood. This study aims to describe the forms of parental involvement with teachers in supporting the learning process and to identify the forms of cooperation and communication established between parents and teachers at TK Kristen Rajawali Sakti 3 Palangka Raya. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of teachers, parents, and the principal who were selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that parental involvement is manifested through participation in school activities, assistance in children's learning at home, provision of learning facilities, and monitoring of children's development. In addition, cooperation between parents and teachers is carried out through regular communication, meetings, and discussions regarding children's learning and developmental progress. The collaboration established between parents and teachers contributes positively to creating continuity between home and school learning environments, thereby supporting children's holistic development. Therefore, strengthening partnerships between families and schools is essential to optimize early childhood learning processes.

Abstract

  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media Komik Neng Odel terhadap hasil belajar materi organ sistem pencernaan manusia pada siswa kelas V SDN Cisengkol. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada masih rendahnya hasil belajar siswa serta kurang bervariasinya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif dan mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami materi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experiment dan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SDN Cisengkol dengan subjek penelitian seluruh siswa kelas V yang terdiri dari kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, tes, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal pretest dan posttest. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji statistik non-parametrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa data hasil belajar tidak seluruhnya berdistribusi normal. Hasil uji normalitas pada kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai signifikansi pretest sebesar 0,207 dan posttest sebesar 0,107 > 0,05 sehingga data berdistribusi normal. Sementara itu, pada kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai signifikansi pretest sebesar 0,010 dan posttest sebesar 0,044 < 0,05 sehingga data tidak berdistribusi normal. Hasil uji homogenitas menunjukkan bahwa data memiliki varians yang homogen dengan nilai Sig. Based on Mean sebesar 0,612 > 0,05. Oleh karena itu, pengujian hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan uji statistik non-parametrik. Hasil uji hipotesis memperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,022 < 0,05 sehingga Ho ditolak dan Hₐ diterima. Selain itu, rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen sebesar 83,60 lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol sebesar 74,40. Dengan demikian, media Komik Neng Odel berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar materi organ sistem pencernaan manusia pada siswa kelas V SDN Cisengkol.

Abstract

Matematika merupakan ilmu dasar yang memiliki peran krusial dalam pengembangan kemampuan kognitif dan pemecahan masalah di kehidupan sehari-hari. Artikel konseptual ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam manfaat pembelajaran matematika dalam mengasah kemampuan berpikir logis, kritis, dan sistematis peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil kajian literatur dari berbagai penelitian dan sumber ilmiah, pembelajaran matematika berkontribusi dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir logis, kritis, sistematis, serta meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, ditemukan kesenjangan antara target kurikulum dengan realitas kemampuan pemahaman konsep peserta didik di lapangan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan inovasi strategi pembelajaran yang lebih kontekstual agar manfaat matematika dapat dirasakan secara aplikatif dan optimal dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Test validity is a crucial aspect of educational evaluation because it determines the extent to which an assessment instrument measures the competencies it is intended to assess. This article aims to examine the importance of test validity in improving the quality of educational evaluation through a literature review approach. Data were collected from various scholarly sources, including books and journal articles, and analyzed descriptively. The findings indicate that test validity plays a significant role in ensuring the accuracy, fairness, and trustworthiness of assessment results. Three main types of validity are identified: content validity, construct validity, and criterion-related validity, each contributing to the alignment of assessment instruments with measurement objectives. Furthermore, the development of valid test instruments requires a systematic process, including the formulation of objectives, preparation of test blueprints, item writing, expert review, pilot testing, and empirical analysis. Instruments with high validity provide evaluation results that can serve as a basis for objective, accurate, and accountable educational decision-making. Therefore, test validity is a fundamental element in enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and educational evaluation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of portfolio assessment as an authentic evaluation instrument in the learning process to improve students’ activeness and learning outcomes. Portfolio assessment is an assessment method that emphasizes the process of students’ learning development through collections of assignments, students’ work, activity records, and learning reflections arranged systematically and continuously. Through this assessment, students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, creativity, and learning progress more comprehensively.The method used in this study is a literature review by utilizing various scientific sources such as books, journals, articles, and previous studies related to portfolio assessment and authentic evaluation in learning. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to determine the effectiveness of implementing portfolio assessment in teaching and learning activities.The results of the study indicate that the implementation of portfolio assessment can increase student participation in learning, foster responsibility toward assignments, develop creativity, and train reflective thinking skills. In addition, portfolio assessment helps teachers evaluate students’ learning development more comprehensively and objectively because it focuses not only on final results but also on the learning process experienced by students. Therefore, portfolio assessment can be used as an effective alternative authentic evaluation method to support the improvement of learning quality and student learning outcomes in schools.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Simurelay software-based learning media on students&#x2019; computational thinking skills and creativity in the context of Electric Motor Installation subject at vocational secondary school. A quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed involving 60 tenth-grade students (TITL) at SMKN 1 Driyorejo, divided equally into an experimental group using Simurelay (n = 30) and a control group using PowerPoint (n = 30). Data were collected through validated pretest and posttest instruments and analysed using N-Gain scores, independent sample t-test, and MANOVA. Results indicate that Simurelay did not produce a statistically significant effect on computational thinking (Sig. = 0.708 > 0.05), whereas it yielded a significant effect on creativity (Sig. = 0.011 < 0.05). N-Gain scores for both variables were categorised as moderate in both groups. These findings suggest that simulation-based media is more appropriate for cultivating creativity through open-ended exploration, while the development of computational thinking demands more systematic, algorithm-oriented, and long-term pedagogical strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of supervisory officers in improving the quality of learning and institutional management at TK Gugus 5 Bunga Krisan. Theoretically, supervisory officers function as academic and managerial supervisors who are responsible for guidance, mentoring, evaluation, and the development of teachers’ and principals’ competencies. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed that supervisory activities began with the preparation of systematic work programs and plans, including structured schedules for coaching and classroom supervision. In practice, the supervisor implemented coaching approaches adapted to the characteristics of each school and principal, making the guidance process more flexible and contextual. The discussion results indicated that the coaching activities increased teachers’ motivation to develop more varied and child-centered learning strategies and learning processes. In addition, the supervisor also acted as a mentor, facilitator, and motivator in assisting schools to adapt to policy changes and demands for educational quality improvement. Therefore, the role of the supervisory officer contributes to the sustainable improvement of learning quality and institutional management in early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran kepala sekolah dalam membangun budaya mutu untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di SD Muhammadiyah 2. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas kepala sekolah, guru, dan peserta didik. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah berperan sebagai pemimpin, motivator, fasilitator, dan penggerak budaya mutu di sekolah. Budaya mutu dibangun melalui berbagai program, seperti pembiasaan disiplin, kegiatan literasi, rapat evaluasi rutin, pengembangan komunitas belajar guru, serta pelibatan orang tua dalam kegiatan sekolah. Kepala sekolah juga memberikan motivasi kepada guru melalui apresiasi, pendampingan, dan kesempatan mengikuti kegiatan pengembangan profesional. Implementasi budaya mutu berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan profesionalisme guru yang ditunjukkan melalui meningkatnya kedisiplinan, tanggung jawab, refleksi pembelajaran, dan inovasi dalam proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, budaya mutu turut meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang ditandai dengan keterlibatan aktif peserta didik, suasana belajar yang kondusif, serta pembelajaran yang lebih berpusat pada siswa. Meskipun terdapat kendala berupa perbedaan kesiapan guru dalam menerima perubahan, keterbatasan waktu, dan sarana prasarana, berbagai upaya seperti komunikasi yang efektif, pendampingan berkelanjutan, dan penguatan kolaborasi antar guru mampu mendukung keberlangsungan budaya mutu di sekolah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kepala sekolah memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam membangun budaya mutu yang berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di SD Muhammadiyah 2.
