Abstract

Assessment or assessment is an activity that has principles and strategies that can guide teachers and educational units in planning, implementing and evaluating learning. The intended learning includes the activity of formulating learning outcomes into learning objectives and how to achieve these learning objectives. While assessment is an activity during the learning process to find evidence of the achievement of learning objectives. In this guide, learning and assessment is a cycle; where the assessment provides information about the learning that needs to be designed, then the assessment is used to check the effectiveness of the ongoing learning. Therefore, the preferred assessment is a formative assessment that is oriented towards the development of student competencies. The government has determined Learning Outcomes which are the main reference in developing learning designs, especially for intra-curricular learning activities. This research facilitates the process of thinking about the effectiveness of diagnostic assessments in planning and implementing learning, which starts from analyzing learning outcomes, learning objectives develop a flow of learning objectives.

Abstract

The main capital of teachers is to foster students' interest in learning and become true learners so that students can apply their knowledge in everyday life. Therefore, apart from being educators, teachers also have other roles in the teaching and learning process, namely as motivators, evaluators and facilitators. Through the role of teachers in learning, students are able to show their perseverance in learning in order to achieve learning completeness. Therefore, teaching and learning activities do not only lie with teachers but students also interfere in the teaching and learning process. Referring to the complexity of the learning system which includes the importance of the role of the teacher and student motivation during learning, the purpose of this study is to examine the correlation between the role of the teacher and student learning motivation. Data in this study were collected through questionnaires and observations. As a result, there is a close relationship between the role of teachers and student motivation in learning. This is also evidenced by the results of data processing using SPSS.25 software. with criteria If the sig > 0.05 accept Ho, From data processing obtained sig 0.038 < 0.05 means that Ho is rejected. Thus there is a significant correlation or relationship between the role of teachers and with student learning motivation in learning in grade 10 of SMK Negeri 2 Tourism Merauke, South Papua. Abstract

Literature, in a broad definition, can be defined as a term that denotes works such as drama, poetry, novel, and short story. From an educational point of view, literature can be utilized as a medium for teaching English as a foreign language. This study attempts to suggest the activities that can be used to maximize the prominent role of literature in teaching English skills and describe the relationship between literature and the English teaching and learning process. This study employs the qualitative approach with a library research technique. The data are collected from books and articles in various academic journals. The findings show that the relationship between literature and English teaching and learning is symbiotic and inseparable. Literature does have a really important role in teaching English as a foreign language: literature can be used in developing students’ language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. However, the use of literature in English classes can be fully optimized when accurate methods or techniques are used. This study suggests that the use of literature to enhance students’ language skills has to be done in integration.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' speaking English skills regarding their reading habits. The research method used in this study is a survey method. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. After analyzing the data using statistical methods, the research results can be described as follows. The results of the hypothesis testing indicated a beneficial relationship between reading habits and students' speaking prowess. The correlation coefficient r count of 0.739, which is higher than the r table and is represented as rxy = 0.739 > t 0.5 (1:30) = 0.349, serves as evidence for this. The findings indicate that at the t table level of 5%, 0.5 (1:28) = 2.048 when the t value is then consulted on the t value table. These findings show that the t-test is superior than the t-table. The equation of the linear regression line, which reads = 18.90 + 0.92 X, expresses the impact of the two variables. According to this equation, speaking ability (Y) increases by one unit for every rise in the reading habit variable (X) score, with a constant of 0.92.

The instruments used to collect the data were open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The findings show that teachers: 1) integrated technology by utilizing applications such as using WhatsApp Messenger and Google Classroom in the teaching and learning process, 2) teaching English language skills by providing materials in the form of voice notes, videos, files, and photos, 3) presented the materials in attractive manner, 4) collaborated on teaching materials from various internet sources. However, the integration of this technology was still not optimal, such as the absence of face-to-face virtual interactions, the lack of use of technology in understanding English skills, and non-specific sources of materials. The lack of integration of technology experienced by teachers was caused by the challenges they faced, such as: technological inhibition, infrastructure limitation, disturbance in execution, state of mind, and hiatus between people.
