Abstract

Practicing spoken Arabic is not an easy task. Collaboration with various parties is required, one of which is the school teacher. The primary issue with the Salaf Islamic Boarding School is that a significant number of students struggle with spoken Arabic, although they are capable of reading Arabic texts without diacritical marks. Unfortunately, research on this topic remains highly limited. To address this gap, this study employs exploratory qualitative methods to analyze the challenges faced by Salaf students in speaking Arabic. Data collection was conducted through in-depth and open interviews, involving five teachers from the Salaf Islamic Boarding School and ten students. From this study, several findings emerged, including the following difficulties experienced by students in speaking Arabic: (1) a lack of vocabulary, (2) a lack of motivation, (3) hesitancy to speak due to fear of making mistakes, and (4) feeling embarrassed when speaking Arabic. It is hoped that this research will help identify the difficulties faced by students in speaking Arabic and provide appropriate solutions to further enhance their speaking skills.

Abstract

This research focuses on the use of educational technology in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and the challenges it faces. Educational technology, which involves the application of scientific and technical principles and theories to the teaching-learning process, has shown significant potential to enrich learning methods and facilitate access to diverse learning resources. Some examples of its application in PAI include the use of Al-Qur'an applications, videos and animations, online discussion forums, and Islamic educational games. However, this research also found various challenges, including limited infrastructure, lack of digital literacy, and the need to adapt learning methods from conventional to digital. To overcome this challenge, this research suggests the need for developing technological infrastructure, increasing digital literacy, and further research on the adaptation of digital learning methods in the context of PAI. This research shows that, despite the challenges, educational technology has great potential to enrich Islamic education learning and provide better and more flexible learning opportunities for students

As a finding, the level of learning media is at a high level with mean score = 3.60 while student learning motivation is at a very high level namely meanscore = 4.69. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between learning media and student learning motivation. However, although learning media has great potential to increase student learning motivation, other factors such as students' physical and psychological conditions, learning environment, and the role of parents also play a role in influencing student learning motivation. In addition, the role of teachers in integrating learning media with the right teaching methods is also an important factor. Teachers who are able to use learning media effectively can increase the attractiveness and relevance of learning, and provide positive feedback to students. This can increase students' learning satisfaction and encourage their motivation to continue learning and achieve better results.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to explore the fundamental ethical principles of character education based on Islamic principles. Islam guides its followers to become the best individuals (khoirun ummat). Character education encompasses a broader scope than moral education, as it not only revolves around distinguishing between right and wrong, but also instilling positive habits that promote a sense of awareness and comprehension among children/students. This, in turn, fosters a sense of responsibility and dedication to incorporate virtuous behavior in their daily lives. The Prophet SAW epitomizes the Islamic teachings conveyed in the Qur'an and the Prophet's hadiths, thereby earning him the moniker "walking al-Qur'an." Islamic teachings on character have been gradually eroding and experiencing moral decay, with Muslims no longer serving as exemplary role models. The research approach utilized is qualitative, with a descriptive analysis method, and the data collection involves reviewing literature and previous studies.
