Journal of Islamic Studies is a journal for the study and development of Islamic studies. As a medium to: 1) develop science based on literature and empirical results, 2) encourage the birth of new research ideas and actions within the scope of Islamic studies concepts and practices. This journal is a media published which aims to improve the quality and disseminate science in the field of Islamic studies studied in Indonesia, in order to increase the strength and results of educational institutions in Indonesia. This journal specializes in Islamic studies. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational concepts and values ​​contained in Surah al-Saff and their relevance to the educational context in Indonesia. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research and thematic interpretation methods. Primary data are verses of Surah al-Saff and their interpretations in Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir al-Maraghi, and Tafsir al-Mishbah, while secondary data are obtained from Islamic education literature, character education, and national education policies. The results show that Surah al-Saff contains key educational values, namely integrity between words and deeds, collective discipline and order, commitment to truth, transcendental orientation, and the spirit of cooperation and sacrifice. These values ​​have strong relevance to educational challenges in Indonesia, particularly in strengthening character education and religious moderation. Surah al-Saff emphasizes the importance of role models, consistency of values, and synergy of all educational elements in shaping students who are faithful, have noble character, and are socially responsible. It is hoped that this research can provide a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic education that is contextual and rooted in the values ​​of the Koran. This study also enriches the treasures of Al-Qur'an studies in the perspective of contemporary Indonesian national education.

Abstract

This study examines the ideologization of caliphate-related hadiths in contemporary Islamic political discourse and its implications for the construction of political legitimacy. It argues that the central challenge does not lie in the authenticity of the hadith corpus, but in the interpretive frameworks through which these narrations are selectively appropriated and mobilized. Employing a qualitative library-based research design, the study integrates classical hadith methodology with contemporary political analysis. Primary data consist of hadiths on leadership, obedience, and political authority drawn from major Sunni canonical collections, while secondary sources include classical commentaries and modern scholarship on political Islam. Through sanad evaluation, matan criticism, and critical discourse analysis, the research demonstrates that many caliphate-related hadiths, although textually authentic, were articulated within specific historical contexts and primarily convey ethical guidance rather than prescriptive political models. The findings reveal that contemporary ideological readings tend to absolutize selected narrations, marginalize ethical constraints, and conflate textual authenticity with political obligation. This interpretive reduction transforms hadith into instruments of political domination. The study concludes by proposing a methodological repositioning of hadith between ethics and power, reaffirming the Prophetic tradition as a moral framework that guides and constrains political authority rather than legitimizing immutable political forms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pillars and conditions of marriage from the perspectives of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Egyptian positive law, and to compare them within the framework of contemporary Islamic family law. The focus of the analysis is directed at identifying both the differences and similarities in the views of Islamic legal schoolsparticularly the Hanafi schooland the regulation of marriage law in Egypt, which has undergone processes of codification and modernization. This research employs a normative legal research method with a comparative approach, drawing upon classical fiqh literature, Egyptian statutory regulations, and relevant contemporary scholarly works. The findings indicate that Egyptian marriage law substantively adopts the principles of Hanafi fiqh, while simultaneously introducing adjustments through the establishment of a minimum age for marriage, the mandatory registration of marriage, and the strengthening of legal protection for women and children. From a comparative perspective, it can be concluded that Egyptian marriage law represents a model of integration between Islamic legal norms and modern state law. Therefore, an integrative approach that combines madhhab-based fiqh, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, and the demands of positive law is essential to maintain the relevance and legitimacy of Islamic family law in addressing contemporary social challenges.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of family conflict triggered by the phenomena of infidelity and polygamy within the framework of Islamic family psychology. The objective of the research is to analyze the differences in psychological and sociological impacts between infidelity, viewed as a breach of commitment, and polygamy, which often triggers conflict due to structural unreadiness and emotional management issues. The method employed is a literature study (library research) with a qualitative-descriptive approach, analyzing various references related to family psychology and Islamic family law. The results indicate that infidelity leads to a profound breach of trust (betrayal trauma), while polygamy tends to trigger conflict due to unfair distribution of resources and attention, resulting in decreased psychological well-being for wives and children. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that although polygamy has legal standing, both phenomena have the potential to destroy family harmony if not managed with emotional maturity and the principle of justice. Conflict resolution in both phenomena requires a comprehensive psychological approach to restore the emotional stability of family members.

Abstract

This article aims to examine in depth the concepts of ‘Ilm al-Lughah (Arabic Linguistics) and Fiqh al-Lughah (Philosophy of Language) as two important disciplines in Arabic language studies. ‘Ilm al-Lughah focuses on the linguistic study of Arabic from the aspects of phonology, morphology, syntax, to semantics. In contrast, Fiqh al-Lughah emphasizes the philosophical aspects of language, vocabulary development, and the relationship between language and culture and thought. The two are closely interrelated in forming a comprehensive understanding of the Arabic language, both in academic and practical realms. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method by analyzing various classical and contemporary literature. The study's results indicate that ‘Ilm al-Lughah and Fiqh al-Lghah are inseparable in developing Arabic linguistic science. Their synergy is highly relevant in addressing the challenges of language modernization, Arabic language teaching, and the integration of Islamic sciences.

Abstract

This journal analyzes the development of the Arabic language during two crucial periods in Islamic history: the Umayyad Dynasty (661–750 CE) and the Abbasid Dynasty (750–1258 CE). The study aims to identify the general characteristics, language policies, linguistic developments, and literary contributions of each period, as well as to compare them in order to highlight their fundamental differences and similarities. A historical-descriptive and comparative research method is employed by examining both primary and secondary literature. The findings indicate that the Umayyad Dynasty served as the foundation for the dominance of the Arabic language through administrative Arabization and the early stages of standardization, while the Abbasid Dynasty brought Arabic to the height of intellectual glory through a massive translation movement and the advancement of various sciences. Although their focuses differed—political-administrative in the Umayyad era and intellectual-scientific in the Abbasid era—their shared commitment to Arabic as the core of Islamic civilization remained a fundamental similarity. This journal provides a deeper understanding of the dynamic evolution of the Arabic language within the context of Islamic history and its relevance to linguistic and civilizational studies. Abstract

This study analyzes the transformation of religious practices on the Roblox gaming platform as a manifestation of contemporary piety among the youth. Using a qualitative netnographic approach to the Majelis Roblox Indonesia (MARIO) and Roblox Muslim Community (RMC), it explores the utilization of Roblox's technical features for religious activities through Heidi A. Campbell’s “Digital Religion” framework. Findings indicate that Roblox has evolved from an entertainment medium into an effective space for religious expression, facilitated by multi-platform strategies. These virtual practices represent the characteristics of contemporary digital religion, where digital culture shapes new religious practices while simultaneously ‘culturalizing’ new media by integrating offline religious values into digital spaces. This study concludes that technology is not merely a supplementary tool but has become deeply integrated into the daily religious structures of the younger generation as a core part of their digital identity.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of educational evaluation practices on the satisfaction and learning motivation of 10th grade students at the PPI Muharrikun Najaah Islamic Boarding School in Klaten. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with teachers and students, participatory observation, and assessment documents. Thematic analysis shows that transparent, participatory, and process-oriented evaluation increases students' sense of appreciation, responsibility, and intrinsic motivation. Student participation in assessment, the quality of feedback, and the suitability of evaluation methods with Islamic boarding school values are key factors. The implications of this study include recommendations for a more dialogical and sustainable evaluation design to improve the quality of learning in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study examines the application of Islamic law principles in Article 173 of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) regarding inheritance barriers (mawāni‘ al-irts) in the context of Islamic inheritance law in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Sharia basis, social relevance, and legal rationality of the expansion of inheritance barriers in Article 173 of the KHI through the ijtihad tathbîqî approach within the framework of tahqîq al-manâṭ. This study uses a literature review method with a normative juridical approach, accompanied by an analysis of shar‘i texts and contemporary social realities. The results of the study show that the expansion of mawāni‘ al-irts—which includes attempted murder, severe abuse, and slander against the heir—has shar‘i legitimacy through the stages of istinbâth min al-nushûsh, idrâk al-wâqi’, and tanzîl al-ahkâm, and is in line with maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, particularly the protection of life and honor. In addition, this provision serves as a preventive measure through the application of the principle of sadd al-dzarî‘ah. Thus, Article 173 of the KHI represents a contextual and adaptive renewal of Islamic inheritance law to the needs of contemporary Indonesian society

Abstract

This research aims to know the figure of mujtahid Abu Hanifah and his method in istinbath a law, istihsan is a characteristic attributed to this madzhab. Istihsan has a significant role in contributing as a method of determining Islamic law in religious, social, economic and health fields. Although it is still debated to be used as a proof, it is still used in several aspects of resolving a law by other madhhabs. This research uses qualitative methods, the types of data used are primary and secondary data. And the method of collecting data for this research is by literature study. The results of this study are to open insights to readers about the figure of the great mujtahid Abu Hanifah and his istinbath method in formulating the law, explaining the concept of istihsan Hanafi madzhab and differences in fuqaha opinion to be used as an argument, and the implementation of istihsan law that occurs in everyday life in society.
